Joan Clare Ciccone passed away peacefully early in the morning of September 24th, 2024, after a brief encounter with a very aggressive cancer. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends whose lives she enriched with her enthusiasm, joy and love.

Joan was born February 3rd, 1943 in Taylor, Michigan and raised by mother Rose and her husband Howard Gustafson. She was followed by five brothers with whom she remained close for the rest of her life.

In 1961 she graduated from Holy Redeemer in Detroit. Joan attended Henry Ford Community College and became a dental assistant through on the job training with dentists in Dearborn and Allen Park. She liked to reminisce about fun times in Detroit shopping at Hudson's and eating Saunder's hot fudge cream puffs which remained a special treat whenever she ventured back.

On April 16th, 1966 she married Silvio Tony Ciccone who had been widowed with six kids (Anthony, Martin, Madonna, Paula, Christopher and Melanie Ciccone) and had an instant family. They were active in the Catholic Church and community and remained so for the rest of her life. In 1967 she gave birth to Joey Ciccone who had a heart defect and never made it home from the hospital. Jennifer Ciccone was born in 1968 and Mario Ciccone completed the family in 1969. During this time Joan helped Tony build their house in Rochester Hills, moving from the Harrington Hills subdivision in Pontiac which would be developed into the Silverdome property.

Kinda surprised Madonna didn't make some sort of statement of post about the death of her stepmother. In the various concert films / documentaries they appeared to have a warm relationship in adulthood. I am blessed to still have my mom (I am 54), so obviously I am not privvy to what happens in a step-parent relationship, I just hope they had continued to have a warm relationship.

Confessions and Ray of Light are my favourites from her, so anything in line with those will make me extremely happy.

LOL for some reason, my mind automatically went to a dolphin when you said flipper and I was like...then I Googled and was like ahhhh. It's weird though, because, despite having a prominent gap, Madonna has gone countless albums without using grills. Like...girl, at least take them out when you sing in the studio. I'm hoping the rumours of a Bedtime Stories 30th Anniversary Edition this month prove true. I donated all my Madonna CDs to a library a decade ago and want to re-collect her catalog on vinyl with these reissues.

So far I have the pride edition of Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones and I just nabbed the Madame X rainbow picture disc used for $10.

To me the gap tooth is also what made Madonna so iconic including her smile, hence its sad to know she doesn’t feel her smile looks pretty. I concur with others and hate the grills to my core.

it's a travesty some of those songs at the bottom that nobody has had the pleasure to listen to. Beautiful Killer, Till Death Do Us Part, Nobody's Perfect, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You.

It's just a byproduct of being an older act. Her stanbase actually bought copies of her music and they have little incentive to stream when they already own everything without a subscription (and in some cases they haven't moved to streaming at all).

As for the most recent stuff I'm gonna blame GMAYL. It did it's job and went top 10 but it was so disliked that it made it killed any casual interest of her newer stuff after that.
