Also, I'm wondering if some of you would like to include other things related to 1985 to discuss or rank? Maybe we could talk about our favorite movies or other stuff from that year? Just a thought... Let's rank Reagan scandals lol

Acording to wkipedia; these were the highest grossing movies of 1985
1. Back to the Future Universal $210,609,762 2. Rambo: First Blood Part II TriStar $150,415,432 3. Rocky IV United Artists $127,873,716 4. The Color Purple Warner Bros. $94,175,854 5. Out Of Africa Universal $87,071,205 6. Cocoon 20th Century Fox $76,113,124 7. The Jewel of the Nile $75,973,200 8. Witness Paramount $68,706,993 9. The Goonies Warner Bros. $61,389,680 10. Spies Like Us $60,088,980
I only agree with the action flicks.
These are more of my favs:
1. Breakfest Club The scene where Judd Nelson keeps getting detentions is the priceless
2. Fletch Chevy Chase will always be my favorite comedian
3. Commando Arnold duh.
4. Weird Science Because I was a coming of age horndog
5. Day of the Dead One of the best zombie movies. There was more horror among the soldiers and scientists, than the zombies outside.
6. A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
Because who doesn't love Freddy Kruger
7. Retrurn Of The Living Dead Zombies and Punkers
8. National Lampoon's European Vacation
9. Barbarian Queen, Ladyhawk, Red Sonja, and all other "babes with blades" movies. these movies reminded me of Music videos from Motely Crue and Kiss. Plus I was a coming of age horndog.
10. Reserves for slasher and horror films like The Mutilator, The Hills have Eyes part II, Demons, ect...

The Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies ever and the No. 1 hit song from it is one of my favorites songs as well. For anyone interested in that and other John Hughes films I highly recommend reading You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried by Susannah Gora. It's a fun read about the goings-on behind the scenes of his films.
Weird Science is also a must watch for me at least once a year. I used to enjoy The Goonies more than I do now, but obviously I was a kid so...and of course there's Back To The Future which is just such a classic. That movie also contains one of my favorite No. 1 hits ever...
I know most probably hate them but I love the Police Academy movies and one of my favorites, No. 2, came out this year.
Then there's Desperately Seeking Susan which I never saw until the late 90's but remains amazing. Just One Of The Guys is pure 80's camp and I love it. One of the weirdest movies ever came out this year too, Return to Oz and I certainly remember watching this one as a kid.
St. Elmo's Fire, National Lampoon's European Vacation, Summer Rental, Teen Wolf, Clue...lots of great movies from '85 (on top of the excellent music).

83 is my favorite year, but 1982-1986 in general was the pinnacle for pop music Exactly. Pop music used to be a huge variety of styles. You had Heavy Metal sitting right next to R&B. You had 4 New Wave bands in the top 10, but all had different vibes to their music. You had a melting pot of races. English, Americans, Aussies and Canadians. and we had much much ,more music back then. After the 80's, the pop scene became really one -sided.

More like rankdown overload! I nearly forgot about this one, but I've already listened to all of the songs at least once and am familiar with a good bunch of them already. I'll try my best to send a list in, but if I don't make it in time, tag me in results please.

I'm going to extend the deadline for this another two weeks. I've only received 8 total submissions and I'd like to get at least 10.
New deadline is April 21st...

As expected, this was quite tough to rank. The top 40 in this RD is so, so good. Not a lot of weak points to be found throughout the top 100, either. I only genuinely disliked two songs here. One should be obvious, if you remember 1984. The other may not be.
I'm also aware that my #1 will not do as well as my #1 in 1984. I'm just hoping for it to do better than I expect it will.

I had so much fun compiling my list. A lot of these songs I know quite well, others I had heard a few times and enjoyed rediscovering.
Can't wait for this to start!
