Everything Your Heart Desires Hall & Oates
Total Points: 1543
Billboard Hot 100: 3(1)
Billboard Top 100 of 1988: 72
From: Ohh Yeah!
The hits end here for Hall & Oates, who took this to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It would be their last visit to the Top 10 on the chart. Until 2002 it was their biggest hit on the Adult Contemporary chart.
That's it for today, the Top 50 awaits...

Thrilled that Piano In The Dark made it this far. I figured that was out in the first 15.

There we go, NOW we're cutting into the songs I really liked. Go figure, the song I'm most upset about going out now is a song by Richard Marx.
The bright side is that I still haven't lost anything in my top 25...yet.

"Piano in the Dark" was robbed but I love how this set started. Only 2 bottom 10s to go! I can't imagine my #99 is long for this world. My #94 might put up more of a fight, however, but it could go either way.

#60. Say You Will - Foreigner Passable Foreigner material. I think they were at their last stop by this release. Its about this time when I just went back and played my Foreinger 'Records' cassette.
#59. Angel - Aerosmith This song was robbed. Their best Power ballad era song. "Rag Doll" would have been in my top 20. Pretty much my ranking was the one that kept this epic classic Ballad the mix.
#58. Pink Cadillac - Natalie Cole Kind of fun for what its worth. I prfer the Little Red Corvette.
#57. Endless Summer Nights - Richard Marx This is the one I liked the best from Mr. Richard Marx.
#56. Should've Known Better - Richard Marx I always find it odd when two songs by the dame artist show up side by side in these games. I wonder if some of you rank them side by side. I always try to insert two or three songs inbetween. Even in my top 10.
#55. Together Forever - Rick Astley If it wee not for George Michael, Rick Astley would be my favorite male pop vocalist ever. Those deep vocals were the best. SAW High Energy music was also the best.
#54. Don't Shed A Tear - Paul Carrack Never craed for this song. I'm glad plenty of us tanked it.
#53. Cherry Bomb - John Cougar Mellencamp For me this was his last great song. "Dance Naked" waas cool, but this still had that 70's, juke Box, John Cougar vibe. Song like "This Time"
#52. Piano In The Dark - Brenda Russell Nice piano ballad. There were so many great songs on this list.
#51. Everything Your Heart Desires - Hall & Oates Daryl Hall was another of my favorite male Pop vocalist. Throw Huey Lewis in there too. THis song still had that cool Blue Eyed Soul style.

let's keep the fun rolling with the next 20 songs from my own 1988 top 100. 70. Kim Wilde - You Came (Billboard Hot 100 #41) (DOC #7)Kim needs no introduction. Since been in the music scene since forever til today. I charted "You Came" twice. Once in 1988 and another time in 2006 with the revamped version from her album 'Never Say Never". Both times the song peaked at #7 on my chart. Both versions are stellar. Hot babe alert x2 up next. original2006 version69. Wa Wa Nee - Stimulation (Billboard HOT 100 #85) (DOC #12)You have to be a mad 80's freak to have known about Wa Wa Nee. Believe it or not I found many of these bands on that night time video channel "Night Trax"? Anyway this song had groove. Almost like Blue Eyed R&B Funk. Wikipedia page. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wa_Wa_Nee68. ?67. Sa-Fire - Boy I've Been Told (Miami Freestyle) (Billboard HOT 100 #48) (DOC #7)On the next rankdown we are going to get to play with her only Billboard Top 40 hit "Thinking Of You", but it's a shame that her Freestyle dance songs were all underrated by HOT 100. This was another top 30 Billboard Club hit. Would you belive me, if I told you Marc Anthony wrote this? Not me silly, The salsa singer. Smoking babe alert #1. 66. Debbie Gibson - Shake Your Love (Billboard HOT 100 #4) (DOC #7)here is where Debbie scored her big hot on my YE chart. Always loved the Latin vibe of this song. Cute Girl alert #1. 65. ?64. Dale (Bozzio) - Simon Simon (Billboard Dance Chart #33) (DOC #9)The Multi Talented Lead singer of Missing Persons went solo and signed up with Price's record label 'Paisley Park Records'. Prince even wrote some of the songs on "Riot In English'. "Simon Simon' was the first single. You could hear the Prince vibe in all the songs on the record. Hot Babe alert #2. 63. Transvision Vamp - Tell That Girl To Shut Up (Billboard HOT 100 #87) (DOC #11)Were a very popular Powerpop band from the U.K. Their only charting U.S. single was also the only one I knew of at the time. It reminded me of the Go Go's and Jose Cotton's style. Perfect for my 80's cravings. Hot babe alert #3 62. Go West - Don't Look Down (The Sequel) (Billboard HOT 100 #39) (DOC #7)I like this Go West song so much I brought it back in 1988 with its new re release title "don't Look Down- The Sequel". This also became the only time Go West charted a top 40 hit on the HOT 100. 61. Mike Mareen - Don't Talk To The Snake (Hi- Energy) Mike Mareen's German Hi- Energy style was all over dance scene. "Love Spy" was his biggest hit, but these hits were still being played in the clubs in the 90's. I remember this having a video years ago, but I can't find it on youtube. This maxi's are the type of 8:00 minute songs I sit through all day. Don't Talk To The Snake (Extended Version)Part II.60. ?59. Johnny Hates Jazz - I Don't Want to Be A Hero (Billboard HOT 100 #31) (DOC #6)"Shattered Dreams" wasn't the only hit by the British Sophisti Pop band. This one and "Turn Back The Clock" were also big hits in The U.K. 58. ?57. Cover Girls - Inside Outside (Latin Freestyle) (Billboard HOT 100 #55) (DOC #5)Another band that was sorta shuned off by Billboard HOT 100 was The Cover Girls. Their only top 10 hits were the ballads. This one however was big on the Dance music radio stations, like L.A.'s Power 106 FM. Hot babes Alert #4,5,and 6. 56. Amante - Be My Delight (Latin Hi- Energy Disco) (Billboard HOT 100 N/A) (DOC #4)One of the biggest Underground latin Hi- Energy club hits makes an appearance on my YE chart. This was a Sabby Rayas Production on TSr records. 55. Eighth Wonder - Cross My Heart (Billboard HOT 100 #56) (U.K. #13) (DOC #8)British Bubblegum Pop always had a R.S.V.P slot on my charts. Style? early 80's Madonna. Cute Girl alert #2. 54. Duran Duran - I Don't Want Your Love (Billboard HOT 100 #4) (DOC #4)We will be seeing this one in 1989, but i couldn't wait, so I charted it in 1988. 53. Erasure - Chains Of Love (Billboard HOT 100 #12) (DOC #10)This band scored their best year in 1989 on my charts with "A Little Respect" "Stop" and "Knocking At Your Door" from Crackers International, but in 1988 they scored their second top 10 smash with "Chains Of Love". 52. Stacey Q - I Love You (Hi-Energy) (Billboard U.S. Dance #49) (DOC #5)After charting 3 Top 10 hits from Miss Stacey Q, it was only natural that I charted her one last time. This was the first single off 'Hard Machine". Also written by J. St. James, it was the closest thing to "Two Of Hearts" part II. Cute babe alert #3. 51. Jellybean feat. Adele Bertie - Just A Mirage (Hi-Energy) (Billboard U.S. Dance #4) (DOC #4)Produced by Jellybean Benitez of Madonna fame. This one featured the great vocal works of Adele Bertei. Here is the Top Of The Pops live version MV.

IDWGOWYLT is my least favorite Elton John hit of the 80s. Not sure about ever, but it'd be down there. It's not bad, but not one of his best. The singles from Sleeping With The Past were much better.
The H&O track also isn't on par with their big run for me.
PYL & TF are the big recent losses for me, both still hold up for what they are, especially the former. Taylor Dayne was always better with her uptempo tracks, and this might be her best single.

62. They actually had two more top 40 hits in the 90s. One of them was a Top 10.

It’s a shame to see “Mercedes Boy” just barely scrape the top 50; deserves better!! Pebbles is underrated af.
Hoping that we won’t see “Girlfriend” for quite a while.

Nite And Day Al B. Sure!
Total Points: 1599
Billboard Hot 100: 7
Billboard Top 100 of 1988: 87
From: In Effect Mode
Earning a nomination at the 1989 Grammy Awards for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, this was released in late February of 1988 from the album In Effect Mode and would peak at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week ending July 16th.
Losing the first No. 1 with this leaving the rankdown, sorry 🇯🇲 dollybaby 🇯🇲 and 4 more Top 10's fall...
Such a shame! I really love his music! I'm just glad it made it this far. He's such an underrated artist!

Come Go With Me, Point Of No Return, and Let Me Be The One are one of the strongest 1-2-3 single runs ever. That a group like this did them makes it even more astounding. In those three songs, every mood of forward momentum is captured across every possible spectrum. Personal, business, romantic, sexual, dictatorial, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the only three songs Sheryl Sandberg listened to in the late 80s, and are what Melania Trump turns to in the more embarrassing press days as she focuses on the pile of gold awaiting her in the future, and regains appreciation for her luck and the horrors she's escaped across the ocean to be where she is.
This song is what is played when you're asleep (not going to sleep, already asleep) to recharge to grab everything the other three represent the next day, and it's a reflection of all the worst parts of the world that it is what hit the top.
