I used to really like this song, but it has a pretty high burn rate imo.

That Rihanna comment to Diplo about reggae music that can be played at an airport...this was the song I thought of when I read that.

Wait a sec, I put Keith that low?! I could've sworn I did better by him. Especially after I had him top 20 in Cynthia's new jack swing rankdown. WTF was I doing?

This was my lowest Estefan song so of course it's the highest by a decent margin

Glove Slap Roger had 12 children to feed. I think he could be forgiven for not having the energy left to dig out a fan. Phil Collins would though!

Kylie Minogue above Sting is truly tragic

Some acts arrive with a truly special debut single that hints at great further potential. And when you listen to it years down the line when they have built a storied career, you can hear the seeds. Kylie Minogue is not one of those acts, and neither is Madonna, or Janet Jackson for that matter lol.
I'm not big on acts re-recording their material in general, but when Kylie did The Abbey Road Sessions in 2012, it really showcased her growth as a singer.

Just one bottom 10 left, and it's the one I expected to last the longest.

I like Kylie but I have never liked 'The Locomotion'. She's got far stronger material from the rest of her PWL days alone, never mind the rest of her career.

Not a single reveal that I can't deal with in this set. Honestly, given some of the songs I have high, that's a minor miracle. Then there's this scene, which is one of my favorite scenes of one of my favorite episodes.

Wouldn't have made much a difference but I'm disappointed I didn't rank I Want Her in my top 20.
You won't catch me ranking a Bon Jovi song higher than 70. And you would too if you grew up just a stone's throw away from New Jersey.
My treatment of Gloria during these rankdowns feels a little cruel. There's a one person stan war that exists only in my head that pits Lisa Velez and Gloria Estefan against each other. And, of course, I have to show out for my fellow New York native. But I must rise above!

I Want Her Keith Sweat
Total Points: 1301
Billboard Hot 100: 5
Billboard Top 100 of 1988: 74
From: Make It Last Forever
First single from his debut album, Make It Last Forever. It was released in September of 1987 and was the first new jack swing song to reach #1 on the R&B chart where it stayed forΒ 3 weeks.Β It was written and produced by Sweat and Teddy Riley.
π―π² dollybaby π―π² loses yet another Top 5 with this leaving the rankdown...
What a travesty...another R&B classic leaving so soooon. I wish more R&B lovers were participating in this rankdown.

1-2-3 Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine
Total Points: 1315
Billboard Hot 100: 3(1)
Billboard Top 100 of 1988: 62
From: Let it Loose
Spending one week at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week ending August 20, 1988, this was the 5th and final single from the album Let It Loose. It also peaked at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and within the Top 10 in the UK and Sweden.
Handing out a couple of perfect placements with this leaving the rankdown...
Some of these reveals have been disappointing, and this one is no exception.

#70. Out Of The Blue - Debbie Gibson It a lot higher than I ever thought it nwould appear, but "Foolish Beat" floors this song.
#69. Where Do Broken Hearts Go - Whitney Houston It has a nice 80's ballad vibe, but a tad too sappy for me.
#68. Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car - Billy Ocean I don't know how Billy went from the cool, smooth "Carrabean Queen" to this pop travesty, but here it is.
#67. Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi If you see me put a Glam Metal Bon jovi song at #31, beware. I liked this song, but I didn't love it.
#66. Red Red Wine - UB40 Took Billboard five years to chart this 1983 song. I was over it by then.
#65. I Want Her - Keith Sweat One of the cooler R&B/Funk jams around.
#64. 1-2-3 - Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine I was pretty much done with this band after 'Conga".
#63. We'll Be Together - Sting Not too terrible, but pretty much a rehash of his own song. "If You Love Sombody(Set Them Free") .Am I right?
#62. The Loco-Motion - Kylie Minogue One of my personal favorites. This and Bon Jovi's "Bad Medicine" are the only two from this batch that made my top 100 of 1988.
#61. Wild, Wild West - The Escape Club Pretty Silly Song, but I dodn't hate it.

The worst single off PV (especially when Ragdoll is in the mix), but this is helped by the fact that Aerosmith is a great band that performs it with gusto.
