Happy to see "She Thinks His Name Was John" make the top 20. I thought it might leave within the top 30 so this placement is even better than I expected. This really was a song that Reba took a chance on releasing and I'm glad she did. 18. "Till You Love Me"
Album: Read My Mind Year: 1994
Now why does that video look so familiar...oh yeah I was there My very first Reba concert in 1994 was actually filmed for a NBC concert special that aired sometime in 1995. Filmed at the Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska, John Michael Montgomery was the opening act for this tour. Going into the concert we had no idea at the time that this was being filmed for TV nor did we know that a music video was also going to be recorded at the same time. I was probably only 11 or 12 when I went to this show with my mom so I don't have a full memory of everything she performed, but I do remember the shooting for the music video of "Till You Love Me." Reba performed what we thought would be one of her last songs before doing an encore, but lo and behold an announcement was made that there would be a small intermission to allow Reba time to change and the crew to setup the stage as they would be filming a music video. They also announced during this time that during the intermission a special guest would be performing...none other than Linda Davis! She of course was touring with Reba at the time as one of the background vocalists and had also just released her solo album Shoot for the Moon earlier that year. Some time later Linda comes out and performs quite a few songs including her single at the time "Love Didn't Do It" (oh yea she recorded her music video for that there too!). Linda then completes her show and finally Reba comes out for the shooting of "Till You Love Me." Not sure if its always the case with recording music videos live, but she performed the song twice. Reba went back to change after the song and came back to finish out what was already an epic concert! Below are clips of the NBC special as it aired as well as the music video Linda Davis recorded: As an encore is Reba's performance of "Fancy" from that show!

hopefully "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" because that is the weakest song here (not saying much because it is amazing, the other 10 are better)

The greatest words I never heard I guess I'll never hear. The man I thought could never die has been dead almost a year. Oh, he was good at business, but there was business left to do. He never said he loved me. Guess he thought I knew.
11. "The Greatest Man I Never Knew"
Album: For My Broken Heart Year: 1992Total: 321Average: 21.40Std Dev: 23.67someguy - 4Sean - 4.indulgecountry - 4Cody Wants Out... - 7tim - 8BackwoodsBarbie - 9toomuchboy - 9@adam1995 - 11dub - 16castleoblivion26 - 17BlueShades874 - 23sbp17 - 27Kanenrá:ke - 36bboat11 - 57George Strait Junkie - 89zaclord 🌈 This song, just like "For My Broken Heart", is meeting with the misfortune of missing the top 10 in this rankdown shortly after missing the top 10 in the 1992 Country rankdown... Reba sounds incredible on this song, and the lyrics are so poignant and sad. The way it describes a father who works hard to meet his family's physical needs without focusing on their emotional needs is so clever and well crafted. Unfortunately the melody to this song could easily be seen as boring, which is why I think it keeps missing out on the top 10 in rankdowns. Most of us love it, however, as a whopping 7 of us put it in our top 10s!! That is a record so far for this rankdown. There is also a trifecta of #4 ranks from someguy , Sean , and .indulgecountry . My rank is just outside of the top 50, which makes it a pretty significant outlier, but then George Strait Junkie almost put it in his bottom 10, which makes my outlier vote look pretty darn reasonable... Lol {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie

I just can't stand the thought of splitting up such an intense top 10 over multiple days. Ugh, I'm gutted to see "The Greatest Man I Never Knew" just miss the Top 10. What a shame. That song is so incredible. :'(
Also I'm pleasantly surprised at how far "I'd Rather Ride Around with You" came! I ranked it just outside the Top 20 so it surpassed my own ranking, but it is easily one of her most fun up-tempo singles imo, so I'm really happy to see it get as much love as it did here. It doesn't quite feel like it has a place as one of her 'classics,' but it's every bit as good!

Wtf happened here last night? :( :'(
I was sure And Still, For My Broken Heart and The Greatest Man I Never Knew would all make it to top 10. This songs are amazing and I'm very disappointed that they were eliminated before top 10.
The other two songs I put in my top 10 and were eliminated tonight are She Thinks His Name Was John and I'd Rather Ride Around With You. I like both of them a lot. She Thinks His Name Was John was one of the first Reba's song I heard and I like it instantly. The story it tells perfectly accompanied with piano - truly an excellent ballad and I think no can performe it as good as Reba can. I'd Rather Ride Around With You is my favourite Reba's uptempo song. It never fails to put me in a good mood.
How Was I To Know, Till You Love Me and Little Rock are all great too and I like them a lot even though I didn't put them in my top 10.
I have mixed feelings about top 10. I'm very happy that my #1 made it this far and I do think that almost all songs there are great but I don't think they are really the 10 best songs Reba has ever made.
I really don't understand why is Fancy so popular/well loved. And I hope that It won't win this rankdown.

The fact that "She Thinks His Name Was John" and "And Still" didn't make the top 10 is beyond a crime. Ya'll are fake stans and don't deserve to be here!!! I am very pleased to see "What Do You Say" make it that far though! Yay!
AND THE FACT THAT "THE GREATEST MAN I NEVER KNEW" ONLY MADE IT TO 11 IS LITERALLY THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly one of the best, most heartfelt, beautiful, and poignant songs I have ever heard and I truly believe that it is one of the highet peaks Reba has ever hit. That song (along with "Just Like Them Horses") have truly shaped my life. Changed the person I have become. and made me fall even more in love with this woman. She truly is one of my biggest heroes in life. Here is what i believe the top 10 will be like: 01. Is There Life Out There 02. The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia 03. Fancy 04. The Fear Of Being Alone 05. Does He Love You 06. You Lie 07. Whoever’s In New England 08. Consider Me Gone 09. The Heart Won’t Lie 10. The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter Can we also take a moment...that for the past, like, 40 songs (at least) we all have been hit hard and emotional that favorites have gone out too soon, etc. I truly believe that shows what an incredible entertainer and person that Reba is. I know she has changed so many lives and I am happy to see so many people love such an eclectic assortment of her songs ranging over the past 5 decades.

I can't believe we've made it this far already! Overall I think the top 10 looks about as I expected it would save for a couple songs. I wouldn't have necessarily handpicked "Consider Me Gone" to be one of her all time top ten songs, but I know that it's one of her more recent hits so not surprised to see it make it in. I'm not sure how this is all going to go down, but here's my predictions:
1. Fancy 2. Is There Life Out There 3. The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia 4. Does He Love You 5. Whoever's in New England 6. The Fear of Being Alone 7. You Lie 8. Consider Me Gone 9. The Heart Won't Lie 10. The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

But when he's with me, he says he needs me.And that he wants me, that he believes in me. And when I'm in his arms, oh he swears there's no one else. Is he deceiving me, or am I deceiving myself?
10. "Does He Love You" - ft. Linda Davis Album: Greatest Hits Volume TwoYear: 1993

"Does He Love You" is a song that I would go out on a limb and say is one of the most famous country duets of all time. The wife/mistress facing off is such an interesting theme for a female duet, and is one that Reba would revisit again a few times in the future, once again with Linda Davis on "Face To Face", and then with Jennifer Nettles on "Enough". This is probably also one of the most frequently-covered country songs of all time, with just about any famous female country artist having a video of themselves singing this song online somewhere, whether it was Reba's part of Linda's. This one once again wipes out a trifecta of #4s, this time from toomuchboy, @adam1995, and dub. The bottom 3 ranks are all in the top 50, but every rank ahead of them is in the top 30... Clearly this is an iconic song! {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Fancy Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie

Quite shocked to see this as the first song to leave the top ten as I hought for sure it was going to place closer to the top five. I’ve always really enjoyed the video to this (and that ending!).

If you recall the very beginning of the rankdown, we had a prediction question about which would place better between "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" and "The Heart Won't Lie". Well, they both went on to make the top 10! Now, you get to see which one will win the battle!

Driven by a desperate hunger To the dark of a neon light. Oh, the heart is a lonely hunter, When there's no sign of love in sight.

This song takes two #2 votes with it from BlueShades874 and Cody Wants Out..., and there is only one rank outside of the top 50 from sbp17.
Anyway, I am SO glad to see this song make the top 10, because I had no idea how it would do! It has always been one of my favorite Reba songs, mostly because the musical arrangement is SO delicious. That guitar work especially knocks my socks off Plus I have always loved the imagery that the song gives me, of a heart being some kind of predatory creature or something. Y'all did well, getting this into the top 10! {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Fancy Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie

Time to be honest: I'm relieved to see DHLY out now. Don't get me wrong; it's a decent enough song, but radio plays. it. to. death. Also, I find the performances from both ladies to be a little overdone for some odd reason. *shrug* I originally had "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" as my #1, but obviously changed it at the last second. The mid-90s was such a flawless era of music all around imo. So flawless in fact, that I bet when the '94, '95, and '96 RDs open up (country or otherwise), it'll make that CMA Song of the Year RD feel like child's play. lol @ THIALH potentially being comparing the human heart to a 'predatory creature' as Hunter is my beagle's name and is the COMPLETE. OPPOSITE. of a predator. :kii:

So the song from this album that I have always loved, and that everybody seemed to pretty much agree with, was "I Wish That I Could Tell You". That song is SO well written, I get chills every time I think about it. The whole song is about wondering how to tell someone goodbye, and break up with them, and not really knowing how to do it. Lines like, "How do you choose? Do you hurt 'em with the truth or with a lie?" are like major philosophical gut punches.
But then the hook comes in: "I don't know how to help you. I wish that I could tell you how to tell me goodbye," and you realize that the whole song is the narrator feeling like she is about to be broken up with, and feeling helpless because she sees it coming, but can't help her partner find the words to do it... Talk about a twist that leaves you shooketh!
This definitely should have been a hit, but on an album as stacked as this one, I honestly don't know what I would have swapped out for it... I guess "Why Haven't I Heard From You" would be my choice, but that song still did a lot for Reba's career and became one of her signature songs, so I really don't know!
As you can see, there were 5 singles, and y'all submitted 5 album tracks, and this was a 10 track album... So, yeah, it's safe to say this album is well-liked!

"One Last Good Hand" is one of the most frequently-recommended album tracks of Reba's entire career. Seems like everybody thinks it should have been a hit! And I agree that that has always been one of her catchiest songs, and definitely sounds like a smash #1 hit. "He Wants To Get Married" is one of my other favorites from the album. It probably wouldn't have made a good hit, but it is such a uniquely crafted song! The lyrics are so happy, but the musical arrangement and vocal performance are so sad, and it is a very weird juxtaposition! Until the song suddenly ends, and you realize that the whole time the man she is describing is in love with somebody else... Then it all clicks. Such a well crafted song It takes Thomas Rhett's "Marry Me" and makes it look like it was written by dollar store employees with no songwriting experience.

Oh hey guys, I would just like to point out one thing. The average rank of all the country rankdown winners is 20.58. The average rank of "Does He Love You"? 20.47. That means this entire top 10 is finishing with higher scores than an average country rankdown winner!

I couldn't see spending the rest of my lifeWith my head hung down in shame. You know, I might have been born just plain white trash, But Fancy was my name.
7. "Fancy"
Album: Rumor Has It Year: 1991Total: 279Average: 18.60Std Dev: 21.36tim - 2@adam1995 - 2dub - 3Kanenrá:ke - 4Sean - 5toomuchboy - 5castleoblivion26 - 9BlueShades874 - 9Cody Wants Out... - 16sbp17 - 16someguy - 18George Strait Junkie - 27.indulgecountry - 31bboat11 - 59BackwoodsBarbie - 73zaclord 🌈Surprise! Reba's signature song, one which tim and .indulgecountry predicted would be the winner, and Sean thought would finish in the top 3, is bowing out before the top 5. This song is amazing, and epic, and just SUCH a career-defining moment! It is probably her most well-remembered hit, despite the fact that it was barely a top 10 hit. The fact that it was never a #1 hit is absolutely ludicrous, and I can only assume that it was probably tanked by controversy the same way that Martina's "Independence Day" was.
Nobody put it at #1 here, but SIX people put it in their top 5! Ultimately this song was sunk by BackwoodsBarbie's bottom 30 rank (and probably helped by my rank, even though I was just a hair outside of the top half). Still, it put some major distance between itself and the songs behind it, because this song finishes about 23 points higher than "The Heart Won't Lie". {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie

I was actually thinking that "Whoever's in New England" would kick off our top 10, so maybe that?
I can also see "Consider Me Gone" or "The Fear of Being Alone" leaving also.

"You Lie" or "The Fear Of Being Alone" should be next. Surprised they both made it higher than "Fancy"
"Whoever's In New England" better be Top 5

"Consider Me Gone" is actually , chart-wise, her biggest hit! The song hit #1 for 4 weeks straight, due to the lucky timing of hitting the top right when the Christmas chart freeze happened. It's so odd/awesome that she was able to secure such a massive victory so late in her career
Anyway, this song kicks ass, so I'm so glad it managed to be so huge for her, and I am also thrilled to see it do so well in this rankdown! This song held its own against her all-time classics, and I think this placement feels about right. Nobody put this at #1, but .indulgecountry came close by putting it at #2. tim only put this at #44, but everybody else had it in their top 30! {Songs Remaining} Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie
