Artpop is an imperfect album, but one that honestly has some of my favs from her, still. I wouldn't mind getting an Artpop 2 just as a fun little gift for fans somehow.

ARTPOP is by far her tackiest album, so naturally I think it's one of her better ones overall. I'd probably rank it third behind her debut and Monster.

Realistically though, that album is best left alone.

The EDM on Artpop is one of my favorite genres. Even if Gaga doesn't release another album like it, I'd like if at least one mainstream artist released that type of music. I want someone to bring it to the forefront again lol.

I always liked this take on Artpop. The extra layers of piano makes it sound so full and satisfying. I think that was one of my overall qualms of Artpop was how empty it sometimes sounded in the background. Swine is the worst offender of that, which sucks because I think it’s such a good song otherwise.

While we're on the topic of ARTPOP, can she drop the solo version of Do What U Want on streaming? The Christina version is fine, but I never felt like she was a great fit on it.

YES!

I love the album because it so outlandish and covers several genres and styles. It's the theatre Gaga doing what she wants and a bit more - the excessiveness is the strength. It's nowhere near perfect album, but it's a memorable album, rich sounds and lots of WTF moments which she also can pull off. I can't think of anyone else platinum selling artists to put out an album like that (and we know SHE won't put out album like that either). It's a once in a lifetime operation that she survived.

I revisited ARTPOP... what worked back in the day (like the singles) still works. But a lot of it still feels excessive and sort of like... a mess of EDM and Pop in the worst way. I can see why some people like it but it's definitely not what most people wanted from her at the time and it wouldn't do much better now.

Chromatica feels like a natural, polished evolution of that, even if the safer direction made it a bit less brave and bold.

I remember when people were declaring her over basically every six months and every success was somehow not a success or didn't count toward her career not being over. (TV doesn't count! Movies don't count! Its not a major Grammy so it doesn't count! It wasn't as big as Bad Romance so it doesn't count! Cheek to Cheek doesn't count its a collaboration! Touring doesn't count!)
I have to admit I kind of expected her to fade out even as a big fan, but man, Gaga just lingers and keeps getting wins, even in places I never expected her to find success. It will be fun watching what she does in the future!

Yeah, pretty much from the release of Born This Way the album up until the success of A Star is Born could no longer be dismissed, Gaga was deemed over time and time again. I wonder if that’s why Chromatica was received so positively because no one could declare her finished anymore so now they’re riding the wave.
