The statement we were kind of waiting for, also pretty expected in content.

Yes, I'm still gonna need that song - R. Kelly or no R. Kelly - available to stream.

That was fast. Gotta love how PR people freak out and rush everything when an Oscar campaign is in progress.
I like the track, ngl, but I understand the move.

It sounds very...Idk.
I like the original version and honestly I don't think she should take it down or try to erase its existence. People should have the right to resonate with a song in various ways, regardless of how they feel about the creators.

I have not been a huge fan of the X-tina version.
DWUW with R Kelly is her best single since Bad Romance.

Her statement perfectly describes what I thought was going through her head back in the Artpop days. I'm glad she took full responsibility and was honest with what was already obvious but it being put into words has different weight I guess. With that being said, I just blasted DWUW (original ONLY) and got my life and I don't have any intentions of deleting it or replacing it with Legend X's version.

TBH I feel like we need this to trigger DWUW feat Christina to be the official version of the song

This is one reason why I still prefer to purchase music physically or otherwise in addition to streaming, rather than just streaming it.

Her statement is actually promoting the track instead of discouraging people from listening to/buying it. Lol

Her statement is actually promoting the track instead of discourage people from listening to it. Lol I believe it's a mix of people not really knowing the song and people downloading it before it disappears. The irony if Apple deleted the song remotely from people's devices. lmao

It really is an interesting moral question. Should a creator continue to profit from their work if they've caused harm to others/been deemed morally reprehensible by society at large?
I think her statement was very articulate and I commend her for her transparency. That said, I disagree with removing the song from streaming. I thoroughly dislike when I can only listen to a fragmented version of an album, rather than the entire body of work as it was meant to be heard. You can't erase history when it comes to art. That almost defeats the art's purpose entirely. If the song represents where Gaga was at that time in her life, people should be able to hear that at their leisure.
Plus, the song is a bona fide bop.

Yes. 100% agree with you. There's something wrong for a society to make an artist feel like they needs to self-censor their own works.

Y'all, she isn't censoring herself, she's doing what (little) she can to stop being a part of actively giving a child molester money. That is, rightly, more important than listening to a bop.

It could also be something she herself is ashamed of and would rather remove from where she can. Which is also totally fine. I think it’s probably more pointless to remove it given the song is available to buy in physical formats or downloaded illegally but at the very least this way she is doing is what she can do put her support where it should have been.
As for artists continuing to benefit despite morally objectionable actions, I think that’s a much trickier point because it lends itself to who gets to decide when someone can’t benefit, but it’s also a case of, what’s someone to do after they’ve committed a crime? Would someone like R. Kelly simply be done on every way and not allowed to make money or support himself after this? Where would reformed criminals go if they can’t provide for themselves?

If anything, they should leave it up to the consumer's decision, because it's their money, not Gaga's (yet).
