The assumption being that Respect is award-worthy. On paper, it's definitely a prestige pic, but for all we know it sucks, lol.
Similarly, based on the cast/director, this film is a prestige pic. But watching the trailer, it looks like a trashy thriller with campy/over-the-top performances. Nothing about it screams AWARDS to me. But who knows, the film might have more depth or be completely different than the trailer lets on.
Unrelated, I got my Chromatica boxset today. It's so purty (they nailed the art direction this era). I hadn't paid attention to the remixes this era, but listening to the ROM mixes, it shows how much better these tracks would have been had they been allowed to breathe and not crammed into 3 minute or less running times. I would love a remix album or 12" mixes of these tracks.

I highly doubt she’ll record any music for this film. And I think that’s smart. I think she wants the focus to be on her acting talents and not the music this time around. I think that’s actually smart…and I’ll wait patiently for the Chromatica remix album which she should release when the film comes out.

She wants to be a serious actress no doubt even though she is already critically acclaimed. Making movies with soundtrack albums would be a one trick pony for her. I believe I read that she fought so hard to land a role with no singing. I imagine she wanted to act in something completely different from ASIB. |

I didn’t even realize the album was up on streaming. “I Get a Kick Out of You” is also available.
The track listing is also up and Gaga is doing “Let’s Do It,” which I assume is “Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall In Love)”. That’ll be fun!

Ooh! I love Cole Porter so I'm more excited for this than Cheek to Cheek. Also Tony's voice sounds really good for being in his 90s.

I wonder if the Grammys might extend by a day because of the Friday-release schedule and such? It is odd now that you mention it. I wondered the same because Brandi Carlile’s album is out the same day and I can’t imagine why she’d release outside of the eligibility period and wait a whole year and several months when it’s unlikely her album era would last that long either. |

Initially, she was going to use her real name for A Star Is Born as a way to get audiences to take her seriously, but they ended up ditching that idea once they realized it wasn't necessary in order to get nominations. |

Even closer to that than her previous remix albums as the collaborators mentioned are mostly vocalists rather than producers or remixers - and given that it’s all produced by bloodpop so they’re probably mainly reimagined versions of the songs featuring guest artists? I’m hoping the songs are kept relatively intact and complete instead of the type of dance remix where it’s a couple lines or words placed over a new beat. |
