I truly believe her press tour did more harm than good. Some stuff was just ridiculous.
She'll be fine. The Academy hated the film so it was an uphill climb and she most likely came in at sixth place in spite of that. Find her a better script.

Considering only one of the most nominated films was any sort of commercial hit (Dune), they could have the entire roster of Avengers hosting and it would still tank.
I hope this means we get new music soon-ish though. Chromatica was so short. The VMAs was the first and last time she promoted lmao.

The Academy changed the way they vote a few years ago and expanded their non-US members to be around 25% of their membership, which helps the discrepancies between the precursor awards and the actual Oscar nods/winners, because modt of those like SAG do not have that many international members.

I must say I'm disappointed but it's mostly because I love watching her at the awards shows. Her appearance and performance at the 2019 Oscars is unforgettable (over 500 million views on Youtube and counting) and she smashed the Sound of Music tribute few years prior.
She already has an Oscar for Song and a nomination for best actress so it's not a big deal in the long run in that sense. The movie is still top ten on Box Office in several countries.

I personally found the movie HoG fun in a campy way. I didn't think it was particularly a great performance though. Entertaining for sure, but not Oscar worthy. I definitely preferred her performance in ASIB better. She was impressive in that.
I know we want our divas to get all the awards, but not sure she was worthy of Oscar here.

Yeah sometimes actors get their awards and noms from roles that are considered "worse" than then ones they didn't get a nominated... For instance Jesse Plemons was much better in I'm Thinking of Ending Things than The Power of the Dog, but the latter was a big Oscar favourite in many ways so he got a nomination. |

One day Glenn Close is finally gonna get that Oscar and it's gonna be a boring biopic instead of one of her great roles. Just like how Leonardo DiCaprio won for The Revenant instead of, say, Wolf of Wall Street, which has stayed on the pop culture conversation much longer.
I don't think Gaga is quite there in terms of being an Academy favorite. She wants another nod? She needs a great role. HOG was great on paper but the film wasn't that good and what seemed like an Oscar contender ended up being mostly forgotten. Had it been well received she would have turned that probable sixth place finish into a nod or a win.

Idk for me, she deserved a nomination. Even though the movie had mixed critical reactions, she carries the film and is phenomenal in it. I have seen Kidman in Ricardos, Chastain in Tammy Faye, and Stewart in Spencer and Gaga was just as good or even better. Her facial expressions, actions, delivery and obviously her dialogue were fascinating and riveting. In my opinion, Gaga and Rachel Zegler should have been nominated.

People saw some dates for July 23 for London and July 24th for Paris but i guess they delayed the announcement to be respectful about the situation in Ukraine. |
