But really, enough with giving all the old farts awards at these things. Their target demo has been in bed for hours. In a normal world, people don't care about the target demo. The best deserves to win.

If they had submitted the film and performances in the Musical / Comedy. Ategory, she would have won I bet.

Thank god she didn't cause Coleman deserved her win 🙌 I haven't seen The Wife yet, but I just can't imagine Gaga was better than Close(she certainly wasn't better than Coleman that's for sure) She was great in ASIB but this is not an undeniable performance. The real win is the acting nomination and basically guaranteed win for song.

Gaga was great, but there have been several female performances better than her this year. Sometimes it truly is an honor just to be nominated. And this is one of those cases.
She has song on lock though, so she'll get her gold.

Gaga was very good in the movie, but if you have seen the film The Wife, you would know why Glenn Close won. She gave a deeper and more intricate performance. Also Glenn Close has been nominated and nominated and has never won the Oscar. If she is nominated for the Oscar, I predict she will win it, partially to recognize the current role and also to recognize her body of work. Thank you. As much as I love Gaga, Gleen Close is a motherf**king legend who deserves to be recognized. Gaga is only in her early 30s and has plenty of time to win more awards in the future. I think we would be saying the same if the tables were turned and Gaga was at Glenn's stage and a younger actress came into the race. It would be different if Glenn's role wasn't worthy but she is phenomenal in The Wife.

Plus Gaga already had one GG. I'm more gutted that Bohemian Rhapsody won over ASIB.

I think the studio submitting the film in drama instead of musical was a big mistake. That said, Gaga and company will be nominated for oscars.

I think folks are being a little blinded by their love of Gaga. I loved the movie, but I felt it was just "good" and she did a solid job. The story has been told countless times, whether it has been the prior 3 versions or other movies that have taken liberties with a similar story. It borders on cliche because we are so familiar with it. It was a very satisfying and impressive debut, but lets not kid ourselves that it the best performance than any other actress this year. I would say the same about Madonna in Evita. She won the Golden Globe in the category of Best Actress - Musical / Comedy. She benefitted from being in a category away from the Dramatic performances. That being said, she beat Frances McDormand for "Fargo". I thought Madonna was phenomenal and I am a massive fan, but I can say that Frances was robbed. She made up for it by winning the Oscar that year and Madonna was not even nominated.

Glenn will certainly be nominated and I suspect that this is (finally) her year for a win. Gaga will get a nomination, which is a huge deal and big feather in her cap for her first movie role. Gaga will probably win for best original song, so she will get a statue and be half-way to EGOT.

Yeah I love Gaga and I loved her performance but I knew coming in that a nomination was gonna be as good as it gets. The Oscar will be a fight between Glenn and Olivia. The Oscar nominations are in two weeks, if she gets two nominations like I’m thinking she will, that’s already amazing. She’ll walk out that night as an Oscar winner regardless because Best Song is hers to lose.

Lets be honest. This whole era is already an enormous win for Gaga considering where she was at previously.

I said it before I think but I think it works better in Gaga’s favour that she not win these awards. Nominations are amazing though but winning would be rocking the boat this early on.
With that said, I don’t think anyone would bat an eye if Shallow won the Oscar.

Her losing at the Golden Globes just means that she'll win at the Oscars.. right... right.

I was comparing similar situations where pop divas take on a big role and get recognition for it. I also wanted to emphasize that I was not slamming Gaga because I am a Madonna fan. I give Gagas credit where it is due. She delivered a solid performance in a great movie, but there were other things out there this year that were better. Simple as that.

I remember reading that Glenn was a front runner before ASIB came out. She is a fantastic actress.
I thought Gaga looked great last night. From head to toe.

The media put Gaga as the front runner. I can see where this is a bummer for those who believed she would take it. I'm still very happy for her and the enormous success of the film. I never thought this would blow up like it did for her and Bradley. So kudos to them and everyone else associated with the film.

I agree with the general consensus in here about Gaga. So glad she won Song and cannot wait until she wins the same at the Oscars too but tbh I do feel Bradley was robbed. Not taking anything away from Rami but this was probably one of my favorite performances by Bradley ever.

The only thing this did was make this a three-way race for the Best Actress Oscar win (Colman, Close, and GaGa have about equal chance of winning). The golden globes have never been very predictive of the eventual Oscar win, but it does provide some momentum for Glenn. Now, at least, it seems Gaga is more of the underdog.

I'm really happy "Shallow" won! It's been stuck in my head over the last couple days. This album/movie era has been such a great one Gaga. I hope she can carry this momentum into her next studio album release.

Is she a shoe in for the Oscar? I don't think it has been parallel to the Globes.
