Red's Journey: Extended -- 2000's Rock

Well, this thread is up a little earlier than I was expecting...but there was actually some demand to open this thread now. Admittedly, this rankdown is not going to start for a little while for a couple of reasons, but I suppose I can still start the thread right now, right? For those of you who haven't been following the ride, the Journey Through Time's main trilogy has just been completed, with "Black Hole Sun", "Starlight", and "Lazarus" coming out on top at the very end. Even though the main trilogy is over,I wanted to continue hosting rankdowns with the spirit of the Journey in mind. I came up with the idea of hosting a number of "Extended" Journey rankdowns, rankdowns that aren't main Journey rankdowns, but rankdowns that continue the ride after the original three Journey rankdowns have been completed. I came up with this idea long before I completed the three Journeys, and I have a TON of lists already put together. We're going to start, however, with the ranking I came up with first: 2000's Rock. Spoiler: This isn't the only 2000's Rock list that I came up with.

First, a couple of notes:

- You will send your rankings (1-40, 1 for your favorite song, 40 for your least favorite) to me via PM. As of right now, the deadline is set for Tuesday, April 3rd. It looks like I will have the requisite time needed at around that point to reveal. Here's to hoping, anyway. The deadline time is the same as it always is: 10pm US Eastern.

- There will be two different playlists posted: A YouTube playlist and a Spotify playlist. (Insert comments about the YT/Spotify playlists and the potential unavailability of certain songs here.) Because this thread is being started on short notice, I was not able to put together the playlists for this rankdown at the start of the rankdown. The YouTube and Spotify playlists are now both available, though!

- And this one is a big one: I'm not tagging anyone just yet. Why? Because I'm honestly not sure who all would want to participate, and I don't want to go around tagging anyone and everyone. This isn't going to be like the main Journeys, where there might be something for everyone. For the most part, these rankdowns are all one genre. Most of the time, that one genre will be rock. It's my favorite genre, so of course it will be rock most of the time. But I've already mentioned that there will be at least one pop rankdown coming, so it's not like it's exclusively rock. I've even thought about the possibility of doing a country rankdown. Key words "thought about".

- Having said all of this, if you would like to be tagged when I eventually do start tagging posters, make sure to let me know! Believe me, I will start tagging before too long. I just don't want to go overboard immediately.

So, here's what we're going to do to make up for this, because we're not updating tonight. Wednesday and Thursday, I'll be posting 15 reveals. Wednesday will be 40-26, while Thursday will be 25-11. Okay, now let's get started. For real, this time.

#40 never had a chance. This song was in the bottom five for the entire rankdown, and it would also spend the most time at #40. Incredibly, it spent all but three rankings at the very bottom. The song is also over FIFTY points behind #39, so this really wasn't close. This song was destined to be #40. Only two people didn't rank this song in their bottom ten, and those rankings aren't even top half. Of the bottom ten rankings, eight of them are bottom fives, and two will be our first #40 losses of the rankdown.

With this being the overwhelming #40, I do want to say that I love every song in this rankdown. That includes my #40. It also includes "Whole", which I do feel strongly about and think that it's one of the nu-metal songs from that era that genuinely holds up pretty well. It NEVER had a chance here, though...

Forgot to mention that this has the lowest standard deviation. It's also not close.

As mentioned before, #39 is ahead of "Whole" by over fifty points, so it's around here where things start to get a little more competitive. Even still, this song is over twenty points behind #38. This is the source of the tenth-highest standard deviation. This song was, pretty much, in the bottom five the entire time. It is also one of the few songs to reach the #40 spot that wasn't "Whole", getting there after the fifth ranking. It spent eight rankings at the #39 spot, including the last four.

Five people did not rank this song in their bottom ten, but not one, but TWO people will be losing their first top ten ranking at #39. One poster will even be losing a top five very early. Of the bottom ten rankings, all but two are bottom fives, and two are #40 rankings. There is at least one perfect ranking, as well. The most interesting stat to me, however, is the amount of people who ranked this song at one particular spot in the bottom five: FIVE people ranked this song at the exact same spot.

To me, this is the best Skillet song. By a mile. That did not help the band's cause in this rankdown, however...

Poor Doc Indie Party Rock, losing a top five already.

A bit overranked that Flaw song, I did liked his vocals on the hook. Can't complain here.
But damn it this Skillet song was really good on first listen, their best song by far. Disappointed it's out already and before my #40.
