I was excited to finally see the FN tour last night after the covid postponements and goddam she got me in love.. At first I was surprised that she didn’t do many costume changes and speaking of I loved the bedazzled shoes for costume number two. Still I felt the set and backdrop lacked a little oomph for a current star of her stature. It could have matched the amazing music of FN better. Her mic sounded low at points too, I could hardly hear her sing the first few songs which was a little disappointing. Anyone at the show hear the same?
The magnificent Love Again was my runner-up song of the year last year so that was my hilite and I enjoyed how suddenly clubby and energetic it got for Hallucinate, that was the entertainment I was seeking. Be The One was an unexpectedly sweet moment and the performance of Cold Heart did a good job of matching the unique sentiment of the song. Then of course some loser decides to set off fireworks on the floor at her encore which startled everybody for a moment, even Dua appeared shook. How dare they put her at risk!!
Overall it was an entertaining show even if uninspiring like a live video one after the other.
One thing I recalled while watching was her BRIT awards performance of New Rules from 2018 where she doesn’t stand out enough from her backup dancers, even appearing nervous to me. Fast forward to the success of FN and she’s definitely gained great confidence but is still working towards a complete command of the stage imo which is exciting for us and her career because I believe that’s still to come. 8/10 |

My gym has been consistently spinning tracks from her debut album. As a result, "Be the One", "Last Dance", and "Running" are stuck in my head these days. I actually don't mind if she forgets about consistency for a minute and just has some fun with her next album. After Future Nostalgia, she no longer needs to prove she can put together a great body of work.

I’m all for mixed genres albums too. I see it now though - it’ll be the first people complain about - it’s not cohesive like FN! 🙄

My gym has been consistently spinning tracks from her debut album. "Running" ha! that's spot-on. I don't know what to expect from her next record. I don't think she needs to switch it up completely—she's clearly dominating in this lane with 3 of the biggest smashes of 2020 ("Don't Start Now"), 2021 ("Levitating"), and 2022 ("Cold Heart"). she can add different flares, of course, but she has a sound that's working for her. so I don't want to have this big expectation from her to overhaul her sound completely—I'm sure we'll hear from a lot of people that feel this way if she doesn't. |

Did Twitter collectively forget about the pandemic cancelling tours for nearly 2 years? no other pop girl is touring arenas and stadiums for 9 months straight in this day and age, regardless of the panasonic. plus, artists like The Weeknd, Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama (who all released albums within the same month or so as Future Nostalgia) dropped new albums before embarking on their latest tours, while Dua Lipa was able to sustain popularity to carry a (sold out) world tour this far out. so I think that's part of it, as well. |
