It's such a jam and would have been an obvious huge hit. It was a new track on the deluxe edition of her debut album, right? I feel like it should've been saved as the lead single for album #2.

I think the plan was for her to go away for a bit between eras. The budget for promo and a video would have been low anyways considering this would have been like... the seventh release from the project not counting feats? I always forget what was and wasn't a proper simgle because of all the re-releases and international-only singles we got before New Rules.

According to Wikipedia this album had like 8 singles lol. If they wanted her to take a break, I still think "Kiss And Make Up" could've been a good comeback single for her as the lead single to her sophomore album.

FYI, "Kiss And Make Up" was going to be a solo track and it was meant to be included in the original version of her self-titled debut album if it was released on September 30, 2016 and the two push-backs to February 10, 2017 and then, to June 2, 2017 didn't happen. As you could see in the .gif above, Dua was teasing the song when the music video of "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" was unveiled. As a consequence, I doubt they would have saved the song (even with BLACKPINK on it) for her sophomore album because it was always going to be attached to her debut album, like "Want To" and "Running".

I think KAMU would’ve been fine as a single from her debut album but wouldn’t feel like a fresh enough single as a lead from a whole new project unless it was being rush-released to capitalize on her debut’s momentum. I’m hoping for something that shows some growth to lead off her sophomore project.

Dua was interviewed by Rolling Stone and she mentioned that one of her priorities is to release his sophomore album this year. Regarding her sophomore album, she said the following: "My album – I guess it's a pop album, but it's so diverse, because it comes from so many different and inspirations. So hip-hop has played a big role in that. I just want to be able to play with different sounds and different feelings at the same time." Also, in regards of her musical mood swings, she added this: "That carries on in the second album. It's me trying to cover all the ground, all of my feelings. Some days are happy and all you want to do is write a song about that. And other days... you know. Things don't go how you want them do – but it's such great inspiration for music. So there's always that silver lining. I guess I'm quite good at hitting all the low notes – I'm still figuring out how to reach the higher ones."

Why do I feel like she's promoting a soundtrack single like her lead single.

I think that Warner is pulling a "Love Me Like You Do" / "On My Mind" strategy here, which means that "Swan Song" is expected to lead her sophomore album and to be included there, but it's not going to be labeled as the first single. Obviously, it will depend how it's going to perform because it could be left from the album if it doesn't meet the label's expectations, which I don't think it's going to happen to be honest though.

If this is any indication of what kind of music she's making for the second album, then it will be incredible.

She's been tweeting a lot today. Mostly about DL2:
1. She's still recording and plans to listen to all the material towards the end of the month to start picking songs that will make the tracklist. 2. "Swan Song" is not expected to be on the album. 3. She already has a few favorites that she goes back and re-listens to see if they can improve the production, etc... 4. There are no plans to reveal any artwork or concepts for DL2 until much closer to release (a fan was complaining that we basically knew everything about DL1 by the time it dropped... I guess he didn't know about the two delays and how the album we got wasn't the one she was dropping originally)

I guess this tweet implies that Dua and Tove Lo haven't only written a song together. Excited!

Not a particular fan of Swan Song in comparison with her other singles, but it's still a good effort. Glad to hear this wont be on DL2.

Performing at the Grammys with St. Vincent. Wow! There's not any information which song(s) they are going to perform yet, but I'm intrigued.

Considering the kind of crap they tried to pull with Ariana it's probably some sort of "New Rules"/"Masseducation" medley. The producers apparently only want nominated tracks and old songs...
But pretty wise of her to attend. Unlike Ari, Dua needs the US exposure. Hopefully she can get at least one of her two nominations. BNA is televised so it would be great for her.

I'm rooting for Best Dance Recording myself, just b/c BNA feels like a longshot with H.E.R. being the only nominee who has another general field nomination and Carolina Liar being the only act with no one else in their genre to possibly split votes with. Also, people act so damn crotchety about BNA being a 'curse' these days and create backlash over nothing that I almost would rather her not win it. Let someone else deal with that drama.

Oh my god I don't want that. But it's probably anything else lol. I'd so be here for a collab though. And I gotta say, its not one I'd thought of before.

Definitely rooting for her to take home the win for Best Dance Recording. If Daya could snag it, I have faith in Dua!
