Wait... these posts about diss tracks... are you guys saying people take that stuff seriously? I always thought it was just performative manufactured drama like WWE wrestling or “reality” TV.

What I mean by flop is only earn 800,000 copies instead of 1.3m which I originally thought he would sell. Success will obviously still come in Drake's favor just as The Light Is Coming is coming for #1. Ariana x Nicki x Drake will obviously go #1. *cough, cough* Drake, even though Ariana overpowers both in vocals and can outsell Butterfly with Sweetener since Ariana is a better version of Mariah. Im sorry to say this but he wouldn't have even sold 1.3m to begin with, unless you meant SPS. His last album sold 800k on first week when sales were better than they are now. I’m going to disagree. Outside of the A+ tier artists (Taylor/Adele), 1 million-1.3 million seems to be what the big artists sell these days. This includes ed, Bruno, & Kendrick. I would also include drake and Beyonce in this tier. With drakes last main album selling 1.8 million I don’t think this one selling 1.3 is out of the question. Gods plan was massive and nice for what has been a big success too. As long as the album has two or so more killer tracks I think he’s fully capable of reaching those sales even in the different sales climate

I think a lot of people could take these new issues and accusations pretty seriously. This is more akin to Kanye wearing a Trump hat, or actors being accused of sexual harassment, than it is to rappers just randomly calling each other names in unreleased trash songs. * There's pictures of Drake in black face. * He's been accused of neglecting a "secret child". (Which at this point still sounds to telenovela to believe.) But then again, nobody cared when Drake was accused of having ghost writers. He still broke every record in the book in 2016.

Is Pusha T a big deal in the USA? I don't want to sound ignorant but I haven't heard of him before Drake released Duppy Freestyle, although I don't follow the rap scene THAT much so sorry if I come off as ignorant.
Anyway, Drake absolutely won't flop because of that track. If anything his momentum was halted a bit because of "I'm Upset" but even that is comfortably above a million Spotify streams US only. (And rising, I wouldn't even by surprised if it overtook NFW & Yes Indeed tomorrow)

(And rising, I wouldn't even by surprised if it overtook NFW & Yes Indeed tomorrow) His only charting song as a main artist is "New God Flow" featuring Kanye West. Which barely charted. Back in 2012. He's also been a featured artist on "Runaway" and "Mercy" by Kanye West. As well as "Move That Dope" by Future. He was also a member of the rap group named Clipse which charted three songs from 2002-2003. Including "Grindin'" and "When The Last Time", which were decent Top 40 hits. He will have a second charting song next week as a main artist called "If You Know You Know". So I would say that overall Pusha T is not a very big deal in the US. He's a bottom tier mainstream rapper. BUT, it's not so much about Pusha T. Or Pusha T's diss. It's more about the actual accusations being leveled at Drake.

* There's pictures of Drake in black face. * He's been accused of neglecting a "secret child". (Which at this point still sounds to telenovela to believe.) It was just confirmed by Drake and the photographer himself that the black face thing was just a picture without context; in his words, it was to illustrate that the difficulties of being black in the entertainment industry are still alive and it was Drake's idea to portray this. He wasn't the only one doing it either. Other high profile artists like Beyonce have done the same thing, so I feel that shouldn't be controversial. He still needs to address the allegations of his supposed child, but it's strange this is all of a sudden big deal now because these allegations have existed since 2015. He addressed them on "30 for 30 Freestyle" quote: "Paternity testin' for women that I never slept with, I’m legally obligated if they request it" and just earlier this year in Diplomatic Immunity saying: "I got the sauce and now shorties keep claimin' preggo". I don't doubt his response could say something similar, because as you said I find it hard to believe and it seems like lazy researching on Pusha's part. I can't see the controversy, just a bunch of people saying Drake got ethered, etc because diss was very solid. It's not like Pusha unveiled anything crazy about Drake we've never already known or questioned so I just don't see the controversy. I just hope he responds and clears these things up before his album drop rather than go further at Push, because Push will continue to respond, and the pettiness will get dragged on.

I thought he meant first week.

The Light Is Coming does feature Nicki Minaj this is confirmed, however some people are speculating that Drake's on there too since he and Nicki posted some comments on Instagram suggesting that he's on it. I know her and Nicki worked together on a song, but I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere that TLIC is what they worked on together. I'm pretty sure TLIC was already finished before Nicki was doing something with her. Of course, she could just have a verse for it later on. Remember when everyone thought Nicki was on Be Alright but it was actually Side To Side? What I was originally referring to was that the Drake thing is just a rumor. A quote from her Fader interview:

Too bad Radio is just now catching on to Psycho but it didn't happen the same week Post released his album . Frankly I don't know if it will ever go to number 1 on BB at this point.

Post is really gaining on airplay though. With rockstar, his peak was #5. I think Psycho definitely has a decent chance of hitting #1.

Drake would be the type of person to be the first one to have multiple #1's at once on the Hot 100

^^Like in the 50's? It always confused how that happened, I find it hard to believe that two songs ever have exactly the same amount of points in any given week, or sell exactly the same. What are the odds?

OK - in any case - should that happen, Drake would not be the first. Many Double -A singles have hit #1 before

In the 50s the data was so out there that it was totally possible that songs had the same number of points.
I think it also happened in the early 90s pre-Soundscan, and they gave the #1 song to the single that had the least drop in points from the week before. Voodoo chart math.

Childish Gambino's 'This Is America' Is Now Certified Platinum
News
By Morgan Enos | May 31, 2018 11:56 AM EDT
Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” keeps resonating as a streaming hit. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), "This Is America" has been certified Platinum, recognizing 1 million equivalent song units earned in the U.S.
One equivalent song unit, as recognized by the RIAA, is equal to: one digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams. The RIAA changed its Gold & Platinum Awards Program on Feb. 1, 2016, growing from a strictly sales certification process to one that includes tracks and streams.
The certification follows a series of No. 1s for the hard-hitting track, including debuting at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Since then, the track has been streamed over 147 million times, with its much-applauded video topping it at over 216 million streams.

Both charting Some examples Carole King 'It's Too Late"/"I Feel The Earth Move" George Harrison "My Sweet Lord"/"Isn't It A Pity" Beatles "Something"/"Come Together" Elton Jon "Something About The Way You Look Tonight"/"Candle In The Wind 1997" Since Hot 100 is a songs chart - doesn't happen anymore

It’s not a hit unless it makes the year end chart. (J/K) - LOL No lies here. Million Reasons says hi. It only had like two weeks in the 2016 so that's no excuse... -- This Pusha T mess won't negatively impact Drake's album sales one bit. I'm still expecting 900k+ SPS first week.
