I didn't do this year, but if I did, mOBSCENE probably would've been fighting with The Scientist for my 1. Easily the best song I've ever heard from Marilyn Manson.

Sorry for not helping with the closeness stats. I forgot all about it. I guess with peacebone hosting the last 2 years for the Alt rankdowns and doing the stats himself it slipped my mind that I had been calculating them before that. Looks like you have them under control though.
The only song I'm really disappointed about being out already is "Caught in the Rain". I sure hope it does much better in the active rankdown.

Socialburn sounded more like Fuel to me on first listen, but I hear the Wes Scantlin stuff there too. Puddle of Fuel?
Also I could've sworn Drowning was my 98?

84. Liberate - This song is silly and sounds like a rehash of previous singles, but you gotta admit it’s catchy. This is a band that doesn’t seem to take themselves that seriously, and doesn’t have the overtly douchey vibe of some of their peers, so songs like this make for fun guilty pleasures.
83. Everyone - I thought this was listenable enough to place outside the bottom quarter of my rankings, but I’m still not complaining about it being here.
82. Suffocate - I remember the singles from this band's previous album being solid, but everything I've heard after that has been terrible, including both of their entries here. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some more flowers to sniff.
81. Price To Play - It’s got a nice melodic playing against the overall dark vibe of the song, which makes it appealing to me, even if the rest of the song is nothing special.
80. Not Falling - This was okay, one of the more listenable songs (if not the most so) I’ve heard from Mudvayne. Makes sense for it to be the one to break the bottom-20 ceiling.
79. Always - This isn’t too bad… for Saliva. Glad “Rest In Pieces” was the higher entry, I couldn’t find anything to particularly dislike about that one.
78. Rest In Pieces - And there it is. This song isn’t anything special, but it’s inoffensive.
77. (I Hate) Everything About You - It did worse than in 2004, which is all I could ask for. So long, 3DG.
76. Crazy Beat - Sure, this isn’t the height of Blur’s artistry, but I always found this song to be addictively fun, energetic, and quirky.
75. The Anthem - Lame song. Guess they wanted to be another trend after all.
74. Caught In The Rain - Listening to this again, maybe I was a bit hard on it. It was mostly the vocals that turned me off.
73. Still Frame - This was okay. The wrong Trapt song got eliminated first.
72. The Road I’m On - Forgettable song. Landed close to where it belongs.
71. mOBSCENE - Obscenely bad. Good riddance.

A little early to start this reveal, admittedly, but it seems like we've got enough people online to get started early tonight. Let's groove tonight...let's reveal tonight.
#70 will not be the last time we see this band in a retro rankdown. This song started out at a low point, but would eventually settle in and around the #70 range not too long after. This song spent ten total rankings at #70, including the last one.
Nine top half rankings decide to pass us all by here, with three people going a step further and ranking this song in their top 25. Two posters will also shed a bottom ten ranking. One of them will clear their bottom ten here.

#69 is a song that at least one person is surprised to see survive this long. Outside of a brief flirtation with the top half, this song was destined to finish somewhere in the 60's or 70's. Up until the last ranking, it looked like it would finish in the bottom 30...but it did not.
TWELVE people will lose a top half ranking with #69, though only two of this rankings are top 25 rankings, so there's that, at least. Five posters will lose a bottom ten ranking, meanwhile, with two posters clearing a bottom five. One may even be losing a #100.

#68 has a couple of things going for it that the previous two songs don't have. The first thing is that this song spent multiple rankings in the top half, all spread out earlier in the ranking process. It would reach its lowest point with the last ranking.
Ten posters will watch as a top half ranking leaves them, four of those rankings being top 25 rankings. One ranking is pretty close to being a top ten ranking...while another is a top ten ranking, this poster's first top ten loss. There are also three bottom ten rankings for this song, but all of them are bottom fives.

#67 will not be a kind reveal for one person who just had a very good reveal, while it will also not be a very good reveal for someone who just suffered in said last reveal. Yet another song that spent a very brief period in the top half, this particular song quickly fell hard into the 60's, a range that it would spend all but a handful of rankings at.
Twelve more posters will watch a top half ranking die (from a good, safe distance), though just two of those rankings are top 25 rankings...hey, just like #69. Unlike #69, one of those top 25 rankings is mighty close to being a top ten ranking. Six posters will also lose a bottom ten ranking, with three of those rankings being a lonely bottom five.

#66 is a big one: The fourth-highest standard deviation is about to leave us. This song had a fun run. At one point, it was in the bottom ten. At another point, it escaped the bottom 40. Ultimately, the #66 position was its destiny, landing at that spot for eleven rankings.
Eleven posters will lose a top half ranking here, six of those rankings being high top 25 rankings. Not one, not two, but THREE posters will lose a top ten ranking, with one being a top five ranking. At least one of these posters will be losing their first top ten. Meanwhile, four posters will be losing a bottom ten ranking, all but one of those rankings being a low bottom five. One of these rankings might also be a #100.
