Well, at least this becomes Audioslave's best performance on Alt so far - by a lot - and well deservedly so.
A slightly predictable winner from the start, but certainly worthy of #1 spot.

And that is that! I'd like to thank all of you who followed along on yet another wild and crazy Alt rankdown journey. Despite my (many) non-rankdown-changing screwups, I had a blast hosting this rankdown. I hope that I've given you all some fond memories (or perhaps some not-so-fond memories) to take from this wild ride. If nothing else, I just hope that I was never boring. That's always my goal as a rankdown host, to excite and to make everyone as excited as I am for every reveal, and I hope that I accomplished that here.
And with that out of the way, the next Alt rankdown, 2002, is coming...and it's being hosted by someone you guys might be familiar with.
HEY BOSS?
"WHAT?"
IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO HOST!

Sup Nick Sup Josh You want to know what I'm happy about today Sure Josh MY #1 WON A 100-SONG RANKDOWNMe too! I'm not gonna get used to it though, my taste is way too niche. I really wanna see these guys live but I don't want to have to go to Australia for it, so this will have to do.

10. Lose Yourself - However you want to classify it, this is a fantastic record and I think it absolutely deserves top 10.
9. Clocks - Wow, I was not expecting my ranking to be higher than Pulse's overall ranking. Great song, one of Coldplay's best, and I would've had no problem with it being top 5 or even #1, but I can't complain about "The Scientist" being higher.
8. Can't Stop - Another one that I'm rather shocked to see miss the top 5. This one wasn't in my top 10, but it's a great marriage of their rap-funk and melodic styles.
7. Times Like These - Now this is one of my favorites from the Foo Fighters. Better than any of their songs that made #1 on an Alt rankdown, but I guess the competition is tougher here.
6. The Red - Chevelle fans get their top 10! And this deserves to be the song that claims the title too. I'd call it their signature song.
5. All My Life - I don't get how the Foos had multiple #1's before but missed it in this era. Their two top 10 entries here are prime Foo.
4. The Scientist - Quite possibly Coldplay's best song, certainly a worthy choice for their highest entry. At least one of their songs made top 5, and a rather pleasant surprise to see it be this one over "Clocks".
3. Go With the Flow - After the reveal of #4, this was the one song left that I was really rooting for. One of my favorites from them, I like it more than "No One Knows" personally, but I guess I'll root for that one now.
2. Like A Stone - It's a good song, the best of theirs from this era and maybe their second best after "Doesn't Remind Me". But I do have to admit I'm quite burned on it, and that it would have been an underwhelming #1.
1. No One Knows - Not one of my top favorites from this band or this year, but it's still a very good song. Plus QOTSA have always been good performers here and this is their most popular song, so they've earned their #1.
Another really fun rankdown, and all of the top 10 songs are really good despite my not agreeing with the order. Great job Red, and let's bring on 2002!

Very predictable winner but certainly not one to take issue with. I remember “No One Knows” was on a NHL video game back in the day, which is where I became addicted.
But can we address a #100 for “Lose Yourself”? Doc, I love ya, but this is by far your biggest offense on this board. I know it’s a rap song, but give me a break. The flow isn’t harsh, there’s not a crazy amount of curse words, it’s not offensive, and lyrically it’s the Mona Lisa of rap songs. I feel like you didn’t even listen to this song, just went “oh no, a rap song!” and slapped a 100 on there.

The top 2 was great. "Like a Stone" was a song that I was familiar with but revisiting it in the light of singer Chris Cornell's suicide made it that much more haunting to me. "No One Knows" is an amazing winner, though. That riff. Mmm. I don't know if I'll keep on doing these but I am discovering some fine ass songs I've never heard before.

Excellent top 2, and especially a great winner. Cool to see 2 QOTSA songs in the top 3. Makes up for all the crap that happened in the last set. Thanks for hosting, Red!

I thought my column looked awfully red, but then I saw some of the other columns were almost entirely bright red

10. Lose Yourself - Eminem blahblahblah... , overstayed it's welcome. You know the story. and LOL! ...of course I like "The Korn and Metallica songs better. (Exhale)
9. Clocks - Coldplay Good song. I'm not completely blown away with it, some voters are, but a good song.
8. Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers What can I say? At least rap Rock beat rap.
7. Times Like These - Foo Fighters Look at that! I got a perfect rank with one of my top 10 songs. I gotta screen Save that.
6. The Red - Chevelle I have to admit that Chevelle was pretty dcent on this Alt rankdown.
5. All My Life - Foo Fighters Good Foo Fighter song. 'nuff said.
4. The Scientist - Coldplay ...and there goes my last top 10 song. This is is epic Coldplay.
3. Go with the Flow - Queens of the Stone Age I guess I'm one of the few who prefer this one to the other song.
2. Like A Stone - Audioslave I'm ok with this. I liked 'Cochise" more, but this barely missed my top 10.
1. No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age I'm also ok with this winner. It still made my top 40 songs. A lot of #1's. pretty surprising.

I feel like you didn’t even listen to this song, just went “oh no, a rap song!” and slapped a 100 on there. You asked for it, so here it goes: Why I tanked "Lose Yourself" by Eminem.91x played it's share of this song, and I had to change the station, so sad to say, I know it well.. Also think of the hate some have for John Puddle Of Mudd's vocals, or even Chad Kroger's vocals. A favorite of you , me and a few others. I remember people tanking Hinder's songs just Austin's, vocals and "growls" alone. Well; I can't stand Eminem's tones one bit, so it goes both ways. I didn't pay attention to the lyrics because I don't like the backround music nor his tones, so lyrics are not gonna save the song. It started off at #95, but in the end,I penalized it , 5 slots lower, because I don't think it had any business on Alternative chart. I think It might still have been known as Alternative Rock back then? Not sure? I draw the line on, Linkin Park, rap rock. BTW, without even knowing, I ranked ; "Can't Stop" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers at #3. A song; that up until now, didn't realize fell under "Rap Rock". It just has always sounded great to me.

Great job on the rankdown. Red always adds that extra bit of excitement to the mix. Looking forward to the next one. Hopefully less Bipolar songs appear?
