Interesting read.
I agree with Taylor definitely being the fave, especially since it's not really confirmed if Adele is gonna drop anything before 2020, whereas TS7 is definitely coming.
So to answer this;
1.Who do you think is going to win? Taylor Swift 2. Who do you think deserves to win? Tay/Adele/Drake/Rihanna

^And based on what Taylor's doing with touring this year and the sales of reputation, all of which counts toward the 2018 Year-End, I'd think she'll be at least #3 in the Artist chart there, probably behind Drake and Post Malone.

I bet it will be either Drake or Taylor.

The 2017 year end chart included boxscore data as well as BB200, Hot 100, streaming and social media As has been the case since 2011, which I just happened to find out by digging up this post from a very old friend of ours Also interesting that year, British group Take That managed to chart almost solely from boxscore data in Europe, even though having no activity in the U.S. pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/3642726The Year In Pop: Adele Makes Pop History With Triple Win On Year-End Charts; Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga Score In The Year Of The Women December 08, 2011 By Keith Caulfield For the first time, a woman earns three of Billboard's biggest year-end honors: No. 1 on Top Artists, No. 1 on Top Billboard 200 Titles and No. 1 on Hot 100 Songs. The woman, of course, is Adele. The album: 21. The song: "Rolling in the Deep" (both on XL/Columbia). Since Billboard added the top overall artist category to its year-end recaps in 1981, no woman has ever pulled off the triple crown win until this year. Billboard's year-end music recaps are based on chart performance during the chart year that began with last year's Dec. 4 issue and ended with the Nov. 26, 2011, issue. See Adele's Billboard Cover Story: '21' And Up The Top Artists recap ranks the best-performing acts of the year derived from activity on the Billboard 200 albums tally and the Billboard Hot 100 singles list, as well as streaming, social, boxscore and ringtone data.Previous to 2011, there were only four years where one artist swept the top three pop categories. In 2004, Usher did it with his album Confessions and single "Yeah!" (featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris). The previous year, 50 Cent managed the feat with the album Get Rich or Die Tryin' and lead single "In Da Club." Only one other man, George Michael, claimed the top trio of accolades, with his Faith album and title track in 1988. Ace of Base is the lone group to achieve all three, with its album The Sign and title cut in 1994. Aside from Adele, the only time a woman has earned the No. 1 titles on both the year-end Billboard 200 and Hot 100 recaps was in 1993. That year, Whitney Houston reigned with the soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" and the ubiquitous "I Will Always Love You" single. Adele simply took over Billboard's charts in 2011, storming both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100. Her 21 album, released Feb. 22, debuted at No. 1 on the former tally and has spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks atop the list. Two of its singles, "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You," spent seven and five weeks at No. 1, respectively, on the Hot 100. While 21 could certainly return to No. 1, its 13 weeks in the penthouse mark the most weeks atop the list since the soundtrack to "Titanic" spent 16 weeks at No. 1 in 1998. Adele's triumph as the top artist of 2011 also rewrites a bit of history: This is the third year in a row where a woman takes home the honors. That's the longest women have ruled the Top Artists chart. Adele follows Lady Gaga (2010) and Taylor Swift (2009). Also in 2011, for the first time, all four of the top artists on the year-end recap are solo female acts. Following Adele at No. 1 are Rihanna, Katy Perry and last year's champ, Lady Gaga, at Nos. 2-4, respectively. Truly, it was the year of the woman on Billboard's pop charts. While women rule Top Artists, the top-ranked male is Lil Wayne, who comes in at No. 5 and is the top male artist. His album Tha Carter IV (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Republic) ranks at No. 6 on the Top Billboard 200 Titles recap, while he also places six titles on the Hot 100 Songs recap (Nos. 21, 23, 41, 47, 53 and 95). Also on the Hot 100 Songs chart, below Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" at No. 1 is LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (Party Rock/Will.i.am/Cherrytree/Interscope), featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, at No. 2. It was LMFAO's first top 10 single, and it spent six weeks at No. 1 during the summer. Behind LMFAO at Nos. 3 and 4 are two former No. 1 singles from Katy Perry: "Firework" and "E.T." (featuring Kanye West), both on Capitol. The monopolization of the top four on the Hot 100 Songs year-end recap has been a familiar theme in recent years. In 2009, Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas controlled the top four, each placing a pair of singles within the region. The Peas rank at No. 11 on Top Artists-marking the first time there hasn't been a duo or group among the top 10 artists of the year in the 30 years Billboard has been compiling the overall top artist category. With the addition of streaming, social, boxscore and ringtone data to the formula that's used to compile the Top Artists recap, a curious entry lands on the Top Artists-Duo/Group chart. At No. 9 is Take That, the British vocal group that reunited for a mammoth sold-out tour of Europe this year. The band's achievement on the recap is notable because it hasn't released an album or single in the United States-nor landed on any Billboard chart-since 199

Hot 100 artists of all time
Greatest Of All Time Billboard 200 Women ArtistsThe first list includes 10/10/2015, so "1989" was over and: -Drake is not even in this list (but this list was before Hotline Bling) -Katy is bigger Hot 100 artists than Taylor with only two albums -Rihanna #13 and that was before TIWYCF, Work, Needed Me, LOTB, Too Good, Lemon and Wild Thoughts, so she's clearly much bigger than Taylor in singles, but Taylor is bigger than Rihanna in albums (but 2 Taylor's huge albums were in 2000s and GGGB by Rihanna), with one great album, Rihanna will be #1 imo.

Looking at the year end charts and Daniels 2010s chart, I'd say Drake, Taylor and Katy are all probably even with hot 100 points. And like you mentioned, Katy only has 2 which are doing as well as Taylors 2 albums and cant possibly do as well as Drakes 5 albums, soon to be 6 I really hope its true that Rih is releasing 2 albums this year. That would make things very interesting

I think Bruno deserves the title, personally. Bruno Mars, Artist of the Decade 2010s. Would be kind of ironic, since 70% of his music doesnt belong in this decade

I think it will come down too if Taylor/adele relseae another massive album by the end of the decade, Taylor has said that she wanted to do another album by the end of 2019 I feel like drake could take it just because he releases every year and it his pace he could dominate 2019 and 2020 as well It ends in nov 2019 so we only have roughly a year and a half. I feel like Drake only has a chance if Taylor doesn't release by then. He still has a lot of catching up to do with her on the bb200

Taylor should gross over 900m from her tours this decade. Will any of the others mentioned here come close? Although others come ahead on the Hot 100 they don't have an as big lead thete the way she does over some of these artists in touring and Billboard 200.

Yeah, it's Drake. Not sure what Billboard will say. Still weird to me that Eminem was named in the 2000's. Does anybody know where Eminem would be listed for Hot 100 artists in the 2000s? I feel like he might not even be Top 10. I know that Usher, Beyonce, Nelly and Kanye would be above him. The problem with your inverse point system is that it treats the difference between #99 and #100 the same as the difference between #1 and #2. This inflates Drake’s numbers a ton. Your system is interesting and I love Drake but I think BB’s system is more representative of which artist is actually more popular

^One thing to note is that Taylor Swift has 36 weeks to date at #1 in the Artist 100, while Drake has 26 weeks. That's probably meaningless for the decade-end chart, but I think when Drake releases Scorpion he'll shorten the gap for the record.

^Yeah, that's a factor that hard to account for. I'm not sure that it is taken into account for the weekly Artist 100 given how long after the concerts are held the boxscore data becomes available for them.

If they count all the tours, including retroactively (they didn't start counting them in the year-end calculations until after either 2011 or 2012 I think), Taylor will have four full tours, three of which played only to, or mostly to, stadiums (the SN tour also had some stadium dates too), as well as the 2010 leg of the Fearless tour.

I'm pretty sure Bruno is even with Katy, Drake, and Rihanna on the Hot 100, maybe even more points because Uptown Funk.

2010s tour revenue Taylor Swift: $628m - projected to reach approx $940m with 44 remaining reputation tour dates Justin Bieber: $520m - might hit $800m with a 2019 tour Bruno Mars: $420m - probably around $550m after 24K Magic tour? sidenote - that's a helluva long tour Rihanna: $380m - might reach $500m with a 2019 tour Katy Perry: $320m roughly so far, probably $360m once Witness tour ends Adele: $170m - 2019 tour seems unlikely? Drake: $150m solo - $250m or so with co-headlining tours? might add an extra $100m-$150m with 2018 and 2019 tours? Taylor has such a huge lead over Adele and Drake here... Justin Bieber comes close but he's way too far behind on Hot 100 and Billboard 200 for that to matter. Bruno Mars is looking pretty good too but I'm not sure if he even comes out ahead of Taylor on the Hot 100? Definitely not on the Billboard 200. Rihanna might have a chance but her next era will have to be very successful. Are features (as non-lead) weighted the same as solo hits? In terms of Hot 100 hits as the lead artist, Rihanna is barely ahead of Taylor. Using this point system www.racpro.com/grid.php?pid=4&sid=34293&type=htIt's about 51,000 points for Rihanna vs 48,000 points for Taylor for songs as lead artist. Rihanna's points increase to 75,000 or so if she gets full points for her features. I haven't added up all of Drake's points but it should be around 55,000 points as lead and 80,000 points with features counted in full. Pure album sales Rihanna: 10.7m Drake: 13.7m Taylor: 29.9m RIAA album certifications to take into account streaming + track sales Rihanna: 22.5m Drake: 23m? (estimating 4x Plat for More Life since wiki doesn't say) Taylor: 41m

On the Hot 100, I think Rihanna will end up ahead of Taylor. If she releases this year, she'll have enough time to have the whole campaign count. Taylor will have part of her next single and whatever Delicate and the followup(s) to it will do, which Rihanna should be able to outdo.

Not that it'd put her in contention for the title but I imagine Gaga's touring numbers are pretty huge as well, especially if Billboard counts all touring from the start of the decade.
For album sales (or better yet, consumption), do we have totals for these artists to evaluate? The lead that Taylor and Adele both have over everyone else there is going to be a lot to overcome, especially when Taylor also has had massive success with singles, touring, and social media. 2018 will be her 7th year in the year-end artist Top 10, likely her 6th in the Top 5. She *could* be #2 this with all of Reputation's sales and her massive touring, Post Malone be damned.
I'm guessing Billboard will be using raw sales and streaming data? Or is there any "leveling" to account for the fact that album sales figures in 2010 and 2019 are very different, same for streaming? Considering the advantage of 'early 00s' artists (Eminem, Usher, Nelly) on the 2000s decade-end list, I'm guessing it's just the straight numbers as-is.
Hot 100 1 Rihanna 2 Drake 3 Taylor Swift 4 Bruno Mars 5 Katy Perry
Billboard 200 1 Adele 2 Taylor Swift 3 Justin Bieber 4 Drake 5 Lady Gaga
Overall 1 Taylor Swift 2 Drake 3 Adele 4 Rihanna 5 Justin Bieber
