What a perfect record. Why aren’t more people talking about “Hope It’s Something Good”? That chorus is gutwrenching.
Start to finish, they crushed it.

I gave my thoughts on the album in the country forum the other day, so I'll just quote it here: I think the album is fantastic and not really that far removed stylistically than their fourth record was. It's not noticeably any less country than that one in sound to me, though it obviously isn't as country as their first few records. But they'd kinda already morphed their sound after the controversy, and this feels like a continuation of what they started with Taking the Long Way. It's definitely not quite as much of a home run for me as that record was (which is my fave project of theirs), but I think they did a great job here. A few of the songs aren't clicking with me fully yet, but so far I love all of these: Gaslighter Sleep at Night Texas Man Everybody Loves You My Best Friend's Weddings Tights on My Boat The title track is a f**king JAM. "Sleep at Night" and "Everybody Loves You" are both beautiful songs and Natalie's delivery on both is so perfect and emotional (especially on the later). "Tights on My Boat" is f**king savage. "March March" isn't a real 'standout' for me, but I must note that the last minute or so of instrumental work is GORGEOUS, so it gets brownie points for that. "Julianna Calm Down" is also very overhated imo and I think it's a really pleasant, soothing song. The few songs at the end kinda blend together for me so far after just a couple listens; I'll need more time to figure out my thoughts on them. Marvelous comeback album. I've missed them so much and it's great to have them finally release something new as a full band.

I have this album on repeat. It’s gorgeous. I think it could have benefited from a track list reshuffle to switch up the tempos, but that’s about it and not a big deal in the era of playlists. They’re so talented and I love their style so much. Strong songwriting here. Natalie really kills the vocals and the girls playing add a lot here. I hope they release more frequently and we don’t have to wait so long until the next project.

Everybody Loves You is such a beautiful song (better than the original IMO). And the chorus to Gaslighter is so infectious even after all of these months.

I think the album is fantastic and not really that far removed stylistically than their fourth record was. It's interesting that you say that, because the feelings, atmosphere, and soundscape this album evokes feels more like the Home album to me. Production-wise, I agree because Rick Rubin brought them away from a full-out "typical" country sound on TTLW and this is def a continuation of that.

“My Best Friend’s Weddings” is so Lorde-y. As these are 2 of my fave artists I’m all about it. Good work Jack 🙌🏽

Those numbers are pretty strong, especially during a pandemic. I was hoping to see them take the #1 spot though. #3 ain't bad! Will be interesting to see how far it drops with Taylor coming through.

Fantastic album. I am sad to see the lack of love for Set Me Free, I thought that was the clear standout on the album. The lyrics and emotions and vocal delivery is on a whole other level.

Set Me Free is a definite stand out. Great lyrics. They have a lot to love on this album. I'm hoping that radio will pick up on Sleep at Night. Great all the way around.

The more I listen, the more I love this. They’ve done amazing work and the more I listen to interviews and do deep dives into songs, the more impressed I am with this.

My thoughts from the Country forum: This album is so, so good. I'm glad that they opened well, all things considered (global pandemic, lack of radio support, album delay, 14 year hiatus, etc.). My initial favourites are "Gaslighter", "Sleep At Night", "Texas Man", "March March", "My Best Friend's Wedding", "Tights On My Boat" and "Young Man", but there is not a weak link on here. I agree with others in saying that a bit of a tracklist reshuffle would be nice to space out the slower songs at the end of the album, but that's a minor complaint with this great album. I'm so glad that The Chicks are back! This album is easily a 2020 favourite from me. Crappy year, but we are getting some great music!

Really random question that perhaps there isn't an answer for. Why do they pay "Without You" so much dust? It was one of their six country #1's and, less importantly, is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I don't think they've included it any of their set lists since the tour for Fly, but it was a pretty big hit back in the day. That bridge into the final chorus is great too.

I don’t see a thread? Am I blind? If so, please merge.
Spotify put on Gaslighter (song) today, and I checked out the entire record. While 2020 has been a dumpster fire of a year, the music has been monumental. I haven’t listened to these women since I was a kid, and now it’s competing with Folklore and Fiona as my top 2020 record? I
What does everyone else think?

The fact that Fly ranked above Home and Taking The Long Way for Rolling Stone is a bit absurd. lol

"Young Man" and "Sleep at Night" are probably my favorites, but none of the songs are weak to me. There are no skips and the delivery on each song is devastating in all the right ways.
