This is the longest stretch I can recall where the component charts have all been so mismatched.
Do we know that Rihanna is actually releasing new music soon? She’s honestly the only person I can think of that stands a chance at having a #1 that actually does well across all metrics.

The number 1 song in America is #19 on streaming .... Seems nice to me, given streaming pretty much dominates otherwise. Nice to see a song can be #1 without needing huge streaming numbers, pop or not.

Radio is slowly starting to play big streaming hits but they are not there yet The digital sales market and the streaming market do not contain the same people

Girls Like You is not the biggest song in America, just because it gets a lot of radio play doesn't mean it's actually the biggest song. The weight that radio has needs to be hella dropped tbh . Sorry but according to Billboard it is. Imo, billboard isn't correct in telling us what the most popular don't in the US is

Maroon 5 & Cardi B's 'Girls Like You' Leads Hot 100 for Third Week, Lil Wayne Is First to Debut Two Songs in Top Five
10/8/2018 by Gary Trust"Girls" drops 3-8 on Digital Song Sales (18,000 downloads sold, down 26 percent, in the week ending Oct. 4), after leading for six weeks, and 13-19 on Streaming Songs (23.3 million U.S. streams, up 2 percent, in the week ending Oct. 4), where it reached No. 5. MESS at how airplay is fueling "Girls Like You" power at #1! I know Lil Wayne's album bomb played a role, but #19 in Streaming songs, and still #1 on the Hot 100...

I wouldn´t mind

Of course Shallow should be #1, it's the best SELLING song in the country.
Just as valid as your streaming argument.

The number 1 song in America is #19 on streaming .... The modern equivalent of the #1 song being #19 in sales 5 years ago.

LMAO. Old Pulsers, do you remember all the members 12 years ago who were CERTAIN that Billboard was wrong and the top digital sellers should have been the #1 on the Hot 100? Now it's the streamers... With Radio still reaching millions every week.

Imo, billboard isn't correct in telling us what the most popular don't in the US is They are correct, you just don't like it Radio, like it or not still matters Not necessarily. They just have their own way to factor and measure popularity so the results this week are correct using their own methods but that’s about it. People might disagree with it if they believe the numbers aren’t distributed properly. (As long as they aren’t doing so only because their favs aren’t doing well).

One common theme in 12 years "Billboard is screwed up because song <whatever> is not #1, I will never follow this chart again" - but... they keep coming back In 12 years this thread has actually grown and they are bringing friends, in that sense good to see.

That is what I meant, just got lazy in typing. They are correct based on the formula they are using. Others are free to follow different charts to get a different answer

My only issue with radio is... I know not that many people are listening to the radio anymore. And I know the “older folks” argument but still let’s be real here there’s no way it’s pulling in that much audience impressions

I'm so happy for Lil Wayne. Amazing to see Tha Carter V, an album that was delayed because of label issues and complications, finally get released and still perform this well commercially.

And I know the “older folks” argument but still let’s be real here there’s no way it’s pulling in that much audience impressions That's my issue with it, too. The audience impressions are largely exaggerated and all that for a metric that isn't controlled in any way by the listener. Listeners get to choose which songs/albums/artists they get to stream. They get to choose which songs they get to download digitally. They get to choose which artists they pay to see on tour. All of this is controlled by the fan/listener. All but radio.
