Look for the Lady Gaga-Bradley Cooper A Star Is Born ST to repeat at #1 next week, with early reads pointing to a total north of 125k. Here's what we have so far for the two key new releases of the week:
Quavo (Quality Control/Motown/Capitol) 100-110k total activity, 5-7k album Ella Mai (10 Summers/Interscope) 50-55k, 13-15k
Also due to be in five or six figures this week: bong hits by our editorial staff. Stay tuned for updates, as well as more weed jokes.

Ouch at Ella. Hopefully she can get to 80k.

Right. Ouch at Ella. I'd assume she would be the first R&B female singer (whose name isn't Beyonce) in a while to hit 100K SPS especially with a top 5 hit and almost top 10 hit too. But damn!

Not surprised at Ella's number tbh. Boo'd Up and Trip are big hits but she's pretty much another faceless R&B hitmaker.

Did Ella beat Sza?

About what I expected for Quavo, although wouldn't be surprised if his numbers went down.
Okay numbers for Ella, expected her to do better.

No, but Ella's projections aren't too far off from that. Ctrl opened with 60k SPS (25k pure sales). Ella is a new star (so r&b fans are still waiting for her to prove herself) with no crossover hits (so pop fans aren't checking for her). She has previous material, but unlike SZA virtually no one in the US had heard them before Boo'd Up, so she didn't have a cult following to give her a bit of a boost. With all that in mind, I think 50-55k is fine for what is essentially her major label debut. The important thing for her is to have a long era so people will be more immediately interested in her when album #2 comes.

I’m just glad Quavo isn’t gonna be #1 with that trash can of an albums.

That's not bad for Ella, it could trend upward if she has any late night performances this week. Interscope could've done worse smh. Quavo, sis. 5-7k?

I'm trying to remember if any of Gaga's other #1 albums got more than a week at #1?

Oh right, Born This Way debuted at #1, stayed there for week 2 despite a then-record 84% drop and fell to #2 in its third week.
Artpop went 1-8-7 for its first three weeks
Not sure about Cheek To Cheek
Joanne went 1-5

Good for ASIB.
OK for Ella. Boo'd Up is bigger than any of SZA's singles so far, but I still feel like Ella is way more faceless to the GP than SZA.
ZZzZ @ Quavo. Boring ass album.

Quavo (and Lil Wayne's poor longevity so far) point out that not all rap is automatically embraced by streaming audience.

Boo'd Up is definitely bigger than even All the Stars. I do think some people do recognize Ella given that the videos for Boo'd Up and Trip have been in the weekly top 10 of YouTube. But yeah, it is quite possible the GP doesn't what she looks like. That said, her song have even been more overlooked in her native UK.

I think so, considering it opened with almost 500k, but it's probably down to lack of real hits so far.

"Uproar" is getting the most steam so far(as a single). Another 100k for a 3rd week isn't bad, but consistent.

TobyMac is supposedly selling well and he’s still not even top 20? These are scary times...

^Mostly pure sales and minimal track sales and streaming of album songs have done to a lot of albums this year.

The quality of music aside, 53 year old Christian rapper is hardly in great demand in any era, not to mention streaming heavy one.

I don't think Christian music in general is in decline, For King & Country reached #7 just last week, Lauren Daigle crossed 100k and NF is getting pop radio success. It's just tobyMac himself and what's his position in the field.

This new generation of musicians will really find it hard to match yet alone surpass the numbers the Rihanna's, Drake's and Bruno's have put up in their careers. They can barely move any album or single units, lol. It's crazy. Ella Mai, despite blowing the hell up this year, can't even move 70k units first week?

^Numbers are on average down for most artists. There have been few established artists beating their previous career highs or even last album numbers. So, it makes sense that the newer artists will tend to do worse unless they have already a certain level of success.
