Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad song. But I'm sick of seeing it dominate the holiday charts every year. You'd think some other song can finally take its spot, but nope. The same song every year.
Maybe overexposure is part of it, but it's similar how one song sits at #1 forever. It gets kind of boring.
Like, is this the only Christmas song people listen to? Maybe if some other Christmas songs got anywhere near the traction this did, I wouldn't care too much.
But it really comes off as the only Christmas song people really care about (aside from those who buy holiday albums).
I think only two songs have ever led the Holiday 100 that wasn't this song and that's insane.

The asshole in the room next to me in my apartment building is always blasting his music at odd hours and, at least around Christmas time, this is one of the songs he plays. So no, I'm not a fan of it either.

Oh, and by the way, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only three songs to be #1 besides this on the Holiday 100 was "Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber, "Little Drummer Boy", and "Mary, Did You Know?", both by Pentatonix.
I'll just say it's #overrated.

I'm not a fan of Mariah at all, but I'll never get tired of this song. A modern classic!

Nah it's one of Mariah Carey's worst songs IMO. One of my least favorite Christmas songs. Can't stand it.

No Christmas song has come out since that is better. IMO Santa Tell Me is way better. Imagine enjoying a knockoff made of lesser quality more than the pristinely stitched original. π Couldnβt be me.

AIWFCIY is an example of the perfect song. Anyone who disagrees is simply wrong. And this coming from a non-stan.

There are a lot of Christmas songs that get played more, but they're all older. And there have been some successful holiday songs in the 24 years since this was released that get yearly replay, but none seems to be as omnipresent.
I'll say that I love this particular song (and a lot of Mariah's others), but I can see someone getting tired of it. Particularly if they work in or are otherwise frequently in some place that plays Christmas music nonstop for most of November and December.

Outside of the classics from the 40's, 50's and 60's, I'm not a fan of Christmas music at all. And even I can't deny this song. Hands-down the best Christmas song released in my lifetime. There's a reason it comes back every year. The same way those 60 and 70 year old songs come back as well. Undeniable classic.

I think you're just jealous Pentatonix doesn't have a classic as big as AIWFCIY.

I think you're just jealous Pentatonix doesn't have a classic as big as AIWFCIY. Their version of "Hallelujah" is actually the only other holiday song currently in the Top 100 on iTunes (aside from Adam Sandler), so... There's that. Also, their Christmas albums sell a ton of copies in today's climate, without being forced down the throats of the populace as heavy. Wait - is the only reason why you donβt like it is because of charts? Overplay plays a factor in my (and a lot of people's liking of a song). I hate "Shape of You" for similar reasons. I hated "Call Me Maybe" for a bit till the excessive overplay stopped.

But none of their songs are classics like AIWFCIY How do define "classics"? Whether you like it or not? I mean, "The Thanksgiving Song" is almost as old as "All I Want For Christmas is You".

Come back when Pentatonix actually writes an original hit of their own.

Come back when Pentatonix actually writes an original hit of their own. "That's Christmas to Me" returns to the Holiday charts every year. So there's that. But that has no relevancy to the discussion at hand. Especially since the majority of their discography is covers and a cappella as a genre rarely makes original tracks, pointing out they are covers is stupid.

The Pentatonix version of the song is not a classic. Yet... It's charted better than most other versions. And still sells a lot during the holidays. Same with "Mary, Did You Know?".
