Wait, I thought the bundles this week were from the Remix + Album. Are you telling me I missed yet another merch sale from Travis? he had over 20 pieces of new merch bundles.

Actually, jeng, I haven't purchased many physical products in recent times (and in any event, Album Sales isn't just physical product, just as it wasn't for a number of years pre-late 2014). I just like tracking album-sales rankings, which I'm sure more than 1.1% of chart watchers do.

As the audit goes on, at least it's not likely to affect who has the top-selling album this week. Yeah, you and the 1.1% of consumers left who buy physical music can rejoice. It's more than 1.1%. Physical still outsells digital. Through the 10/29 Billboard charts YTD: CD Sales - 47,383,000 (-18.8%) [LY: 58,321,000] Vinyl Sales - 10,450,000 ( +14.8%) [LY: 9,102,000] Other Sales - 290,000 ( +4.6%) [LY: 277,000] = cassettes Digital Sales - 38,983,000 (-20.3%) [LY: 48,919,000]

What makes you say/ask that? Because in the other thread Caution was 22 and MC was in the 50s or am I wrong? HDD didn't specify album but billboard has Caution ahead of MC The HITS chart was the SPS chart: -- 22 MARIAH CAREY | MERRY CHRISTMAS EPIC 21,875 - The Billboard chart was just album sales: 22 4 – 2 Caution - Mariah Carey 50 74 – 70 Merry Christmas - Mariah Carey

HDD kinda has some points with Billboard clearly trying to delay the chart to draw less attention to the issue though. It's now going to be Thursday, and they were aware of the issue Monday at the latest. It doesn't take 3+ days to add a retailer missing. During the whole Lana/Meek/Tyler the Creator fiasco when Spotify didn't submit streams on time, we even had the chart by now. But if Nielsen hasn't released updated data, what are they supposed to do? On top of that, I once again want to stress that Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle are supposed to be "first sources" of information. BuzzAngle, in fact, positions itself as more accurate than Nielsen. So shouldn't THEY be able to tell us who definitively won?

Billboard will drop this late Friday afternoon and bury it deep. And in order to distract will have 2 big articles: 1) AG’s ‘possible’ return to #1 and teasing AIWFCIY potential return to Top 10 (easy clickbait for those bases); and 2) Meek Mill ‘possiby’ debuting at #1, etc. blah, blah, blah.

Maybe they are waiting for the tracking week to end, which is today. Not sure why, but seems like it.

The tracking week for this chart ended a while ago I meant this tracking week, to compare sales drops or whatever they are looking into.

I feel you, and you may be totally right with this. I also think this is an opportunity for them to own the situation in the form of a rule change, assuming this has at least something to do with the merchandise bundle situation. It needs to be addressed//handled one way or another, sooner than later. This may explain the added time they are taking - finalizing the game plan going forward with all the labels included.

Maybe they are waiting for the tracking week to end, which is today. Not sure why, but seems like it. The tracking week ended last Thursday for the 12/8 charts. Billboard had Travis Scott at #1. 6ix9ine's label says he should be #1 so Nielsen Music is doing an audit. The news of who is #1 could break at any time.

The tracking week for this chart ended a while ago I meant this tracking week, to compare sales drops or whatever they are looking into. They are looking into merchandise sales. Buy a t-shirt, get a copy of the album. If a consumer buys 3 t-shirts, he/she gets 3 albums that are reported to Nielsen Music as album sales. You may know all of this...

THE BIBLE'S CHART BOTCH: SHITSHOW, PART 3Did Billboard go to print while the most recent chart controversy was ongoing? Has anyone checked? Inside sources at Nielsen say 6ix9ine took the top spot by less than 200 units, but we’re hearing the Bible went to print with Travis Scott at #1, despite having noted in an email exchange with interested parties that they’d be switching the winner to 6ix9ine. The Top 200 online still reflects the 12/1 chart, with Mumford & Sons at #1.
Clearly, advertisers came ahead of chart accuracy as the controversy raged on—in the midst of an editorial restructuring that puts Hannah Karp in charge of editorial. Karp, a former Wall Street Journal correspondent, certainly has some cred; we like her and wish her well. But she doesn’t know where a single body is buried. The fact remains that Billboard has structural problems that no amount of editorial reshuffling can resolve, mainly because they’ve eroded the credibility of their charts (which currently measure T-shirt and ticket sales above all else) and their editorial (those lists, that clickbait). The company leadership lost the plot so long ago that they’ll continue to be the laughingstock of the business. Not a great start for a new administration.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=314468&title=THE-BIBLEIt gets better and better. Can't wait for the next part!

Billboard still has a print edition? How 20th Century and environmentally backward.
If it’s Nielsen that’s reporting the sales numbers, aren’t they really to blame? Does Nielsen submit the raw #s - like 5000 t-shirts bundled with 5000 CDs? Unless they blantantly can’t interpret/analyze data, where is Billboard’s responsibly here? Doesn’t Nielsen filter out certain anomalies - like multiple purchases by same account, bots, etc.

Sicko Mode can take a seat I want to end this charade and just announce Travis Scott the rightful winner. He earned it.

The only value HDD has is to provide the midweek predictions tbh, because Billboard doesn't do it extensively very often.
Otherwise they are just advertising platform for industry, without journalistic approach to anything.

If they have not published a chart by now they probably aren't going to
They will probably post the 12/15 chart in a couple days and hope they can just bury the 12/8 chart

yes -you can buy it in the printed issue(if there is one for this week) or you can see it online, buried behind the 12/15 chart
I am only guessing of course - I would have thought this would have been fixed by now

I hope a rule change regarding these bundles is coming. I'm OK with Travis taking the #1 spot because he's playing the game well, but that doesn't mean they can't fix it in the near future and avoid these messes... even if it means someone like 69mess earns a #1 album.

If the chart isn’t published by the next chart, how will they go about marking Last Week positions/units?
This is so annoying too because this would’ve been Drake’s “Take Care” 300th week chatting. Thus, we could’ve possibly learned it’s units to date total on the Billboard 200 Chart Moves.

Thus, we could’ve possibly learned it’s units to date total on the Billboard 200 Chart Moves. I think it'll be resolved prior to the next chart being released. But I also think it's entirely possible that the next chart won't be revealed on Sunday as it normally is. If they're hammering out a rule change, there's a lot that goes into it, industry-wise. It'll have an effect on next week's chart, too. Plus, reportedly, there are lawyers involved on behalf of this week's chart. It's clearly not a quick data adjustment, which is why I'm thinking what I'm thinking. A lot of guessing and ifs, but it's kinda fun to speculate. I don't recall this ever happening before in my lifetime.

^^They won't publish the new chart until the 12/8 chart is completed.
It all depends on the lawsuits, if it did come to that.
