Do you guys think that Billboard changed the fomula again? 1. They would've announced if they did 2. They wouldn't, they already did not even 6 months ago

I told yβall not to underestimate the effect of those last 5 holiday days of sales/streams for Christmas songs, and I was totally proven right. Quite a few users who specifically said this would be the βdying breathβ type week for the songs now have egg on their face.

So I do a chart based on the year in which songs peak, and includes their entire chart run.
As of right now, the top 4 songs to peak in 2019 are:
1. All I Want For Christmas (Released 1994) 2. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (1958) 3. Jingle Bell Rock (1957) 4. A Holly Jolly Christmas (1964)
...which means all 4 of these will drop from the 2018 chart.
It also put Mariah within the possibility of reaching the top 100 of 2019, assuming she gets back on the charts in early to mid-November 2019.

^Indeed. Most likely did not expect to see four holiday songs in the top 10 this week.
I actually predicted that AIWFCIY would reach the top 3 and three songs the top 10 this season, which turned out to be too conservative on the latter point. Next year, they should do even better as people do seem to have embraced streamung for then at least at Spotify.

Why did It's the most wonderful time of the year drop all of a sudden when every other Christmas song rose?

fhas: If AIWFCIY charts in early November, does this put it within distance of making the top 100 of 2019?

fhas : If AIWFCIY charts in early November, does this put it within distance of making the top 100 of 2019? It would need two weeks at #7-10 (22k points/week).

Imagine the 2020s decade-end charts with a lot of Christmas songs. Good lord.

Unless BB changes the formula again, 2019 Xmas week will have 6 days of streaming (+20%) and 3 days of radio (+50%).
As I predicted in the AIWFCIY thread a couple of weeks ago, I figured things would be stable this week because last year AIWFCIY only dropped to 13 from 9 - and that was with 4 days of streaming and 1 day of radio. Sales are so low across the board that the point difference between the top songs is negligible and will be even less next year.
This Xmas season really made chart-watching fun again. This tracking week should be even crazier with all the titles that will drop off.

No features in the top 10 as the article said.

Two refreshing things about the top 10 mentioned in the article are the all female top 3 and all songs with no credited features.

So I do a chart based on the year in which songs peak, and includes their entire chart run.
As of right now, the top 4 songs to peak in 2019 are:
1. All I Want For Christmas (1997) 2.
Is the year when each song came out because Mariahβs is from 1994.

Well, AIWFCIY broke the daily record on Spotify so rightfully top 3, never thought it'd rise THAT high though, #4 or 5 max.

Why did It's the most wonderful time of the year drop all of a sudden when every other Christmas song rose? Probably got a "backward bullet". Increased in points, but others increased even more.
