I just noticed Pinkfong is South Korean... so this is technically the third Korean Top 40 hit on the Hot 100, following "MIC Drop" and "Fake Love". It would be 4th, no? Idol hit 11? |

Congrats Halsey! Why did Baby Shark debut? Did it just went viral in the US? Maybe it was gaining performance throughout the holiday season and Christmas just prevented it from being noticed? It may also have to do with it being #1 on Amazon Music, which seems to have had a boost during the holiday season that may still be enduring. |

The current #1 song is not #1 in any component. The chart is so bizarre these days. I think this is the first time since "Cheap Thrills"? I'm not sure. #2 "thank u, next" doesn't reign on any component either. "Sunflower" really doesn't have to do much to top the chart at this point tbh. Thank you next wasn't top 3 in any component last week and was #1 |

Seems odd the streaming for "Baby Shark" came out of nowhere like this. I thought it was very popular with kids and parents of young kids several months ago. Was it not available on some of the streaming outlets or something like that until now?

I'm assuming the youtube streams have also helped "Baby Shark"? It's at over 2.1 billion views. Not sure how many views per day it's doing (kworb isn't tracking it from what I can see) but the youtube views are the main reason it managed to go top 10 in the UK charts.
