I wouldn't use the LOUD singles "bad" longevity against them because Rih was releasing new ones at a faster than usual rate, much like Ariana is, still getting significant radio play for five different tracks still.
I don't think Ariana can quite match Rih yet popularity wise but she is on the right track.

Something happening 50% of the time, which is what you said, is "often." Ah I see, so semantics confused you, "often" would be >50%. Maybe to you, but it's actual definition is "many times" or "frequently." That is subjective.

The singles from TD, Loud, and GGGB were good. The singles from TYN have been bad.

Well since we're talking about Adele. HDD has all but confirmed new Adele music is coming in about a month. So she's definitely releasing the album in spring.
If this has a regular album release with Day 1 spotify then RIP every streaming record tbh

If this has a regular album release with Day 1 spotify then RIP every streaming record tbh I'm not so sure. Even though the 25 era was a big success, most of it was about the momentum from 21 and "Hello." The rest of the singles underperformed, and I don't think the hype for new Adele will be massive.

Adele's name alone would bring the hype. Will it be the same as Hello hype? Probably not but the hype will be there to some extent. If we wanna look at Ari's first album, only hit being The Way then Problem as of debuted at one. Ari and Iggy's combined hype was enough.

HDD did this same kinda teasing when Hello was a month out too. Much earlier than Adele officially revealed the release date.
I also very clearly remember seeing an article that said Adele's album would be moved into spring if Sony had any say.
If they only included Adele for clicks, why not use the biggest pop star on Spotify instead? Regardless we'll see in the coming weeks 🤷🏾♂️

I'm sure Adele wrote a mega-hit. Expect over 300k pure copies and over 100M streams in the first week. Everybody from 7 to 77 is listening to her, and that's the main difference between her and the other female artists.

With Adele, there's mystery and suspense, which makes for far more clicks than "Hey, this album we all know about that's getting released in two weeks? Yup, it's getting released."

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying the article was baiting for clicks. I was just making a point on why any article might use Adele over Ariana (who I thought you were referring to since she's the top streamed pop artist right now) for click bait.

It's crazy how "The Way You Move" got stuck behind "Hey Ya!" for 8 weeks, and managed to sneak in a week at #1 after. Outkast was on fire that era!
And No Doubt hitting top 10 with "It's My Life" in an urban/R&B centric era is crazy!

40. (+3) GESAFFELSTEIN & THE WEEKND - Lost In The Fire (40.851) (+1.678)
How on earth has this turd been able to collect this much airplay already? My God, radio is so out of touch/corrupt.

Ariana is somewhere below where Rihanna was during Loud, but higher than during GGGB. Still well below Katy's peak, let alone Gaga's and Taylor's (the latter is still well above her too). “GGGB” was a far bigger era than “LOUD”, objectively speaking. Aside from its grand commercial success, the album/era produced defining cultural moments. Moreover, “Umbrella” is still a bigger hit and is more iconic than anything Grande has released. I think "GGGB" was Rihanna's commercial peak, but "Loud" was her celebrity peak. She was everywhere during that time, and the red hair was iconic.

Wow, "Thank u next" is peaking on airplay at #3, the same peak as "Breathin" and "no tears left to cry".
I wonder if these could've had higher radio peaks if she didn't churn out songs so fast.

Ariana's 2018 telenovela with Pete has strengthened her star power to the point where she can drop pretty much anything right now and do massive numbers.
But will a turd song like 7 Rings stand the test of time and age like big pop classics such as Teenage Dream? I wouldn't bet on it.
