I mean, it is 2x Platinum... most of its chart points were based off radio if im not mistaken It was never a huge seller, but still made #15 on Digital Song Sales, and has over 200 million streams on Spotify. It's not like it had no sales/streams.

That would be 10 in the top 40 for Ariana. Is that a record for female artists?

lmao ppl thought she’d debut 7 songs in the top 10 Her fans on ATRL lost their minds because she managed two #1 debuts. People on there were saying she'd debut more than 7 songs in the top 10 and that she'd move more units in her first week than Drake did with Scorpion. I wonder why fans set themselves up like that. It did AMAZING numbers and I don't even think Rihanna will break the new streaming record she set with this new album. Over 360 million US streams in a debut week for a female album is REALLY good. Only rappers did those numbers before Ariana's album and she did it with only 12 songs. Really impressive.

All this just further puts it into perspective how crazy Scorpion's debut week was on the Hot 100 chart: 4 top 10 debuts, 7 total top 10 placements, 9 top 20 debuts, 12 total top 20 placements, 17 top 40 debuts, 21 total top 40 placements, 22 new Hot 100 entries and 27 total Hot 100 hits.
I also checked the eligibility for some of the songs he released all last year and here's how a couple of them stand currently:
God's Plan - 11x Platinum eligible. Diplomatic Immunity - .5 Platinum (Gold) eligible. Look Alive - 5x Platinum eligible. Lemon remix - .5 Platinum (Gold) eligible. Walk It Talk It - 4x Platinum eligible. Nice for What - 6x Platinum eligible. Yes Indeed - 4x Platinum eligible. I'm Upset - 2x Platinum eligible. Bigger Than You - 1x Platinum eligible. Don't Matter to Me - 1x Platinum eligible. In My Feelings - 6x Platinum eligible. Nonstop - 4x Platinum eligible. Mob Ties - 1x Platinum eligible. No Stylist - 1x Platinum eligible.
There's also songs that came out late in the year (MIA and Going Bad).
I don't know of any rapper that's ever had a year on the charts and just based on pure song success like Drake did last year. It's something we'll look back on one of these years and marvel at because I don't know that it'll be done anytime soon or ever again.

To be honest, I didn't see a lot of people having such high expectations for Ariana. hot100predictions predicted 7 rings debuting at #1 fairly early and I'll give them that, but that's the only person I remember having such high expectations for Ariana's debut week on here.

lmao ppl thought she’d debut 7 songs in the top 10 Female Drake hahaha... not even close. I think Ariana has proven herself as a streaming force in her own right, especially with this thank u, next era, I just wish people didn't throw that around. "Female Drake". Drake has done some downright mind-boggling things since the rise of the streaming era and when you step back and look at ALL he's done since 2015 till now, there really isn't ANY artist that comes close to doing the numbers he does on a consistent basis. It's really something else. Still, doesn't mean people can't give Ariana her flowers because she's held it down for women the past couple of months, I just think it's a stretch to compare what she's done in the streaming era to what Drake has done.

Drake SpotifyI don't deny Drake's streaming power, but this was pretty..............absurd. People were forced to listen to him. He pulled bigger streams on Apple Music than Spotify, that only lasted 2~ days out of his first week, and many of those just had a picture of him but no music on the playlist.

People in industry and fans put too much emphasis on debut week sales. Yeah, they're important, but not as much as staying power imo.
