The song is fine but the vocals aren't it. (I like the breathy verses though)

"Beautiful Ghosts" remains a hauntingly beautiful, wonderfully written track. Had it not been attached to that disastrous film and overshadowed by the Scooter mess, it wpuld be much more appreciated as the gem it is IMO. Vocals being her best is questionable, but the song is solid.

It's a no from me. The track is a snooze.
When it comes to soundtracks, her only good tracks are the ones from The Hunger Games.

It's been four months and I'm still thinking about this: RE: Taylor Swift - "Beautiful Ghosts"This is probably her best vocal performance ever on a recorded song. The last note is incredible. I stand by my statement! The song is beautiful, the floppage doesn't erase that.

Beautiful Ghosts is a stunning song and really just highlights how incredibly versatile Taylor is as a songwriter. I can imagine you would t like it if you’re not a fan of musical theater, however, since the song is very much a musical theater song and not a pop song.

It's a no from me. The track is a snooze. When it comes to soundtracks, her only good tracks are the ones from The Hunger Games. I unabashedly love "Today Was a Fairytale" too because it relishes in its cheesiness, which perfectly fits the film and holiday it's connected to. (Also it's catchy AF.) But yeah, the Cats song just isn't good. Boring melodic writing, perhaps her worst vocal performance on a studio recording to date, and lyrics filled with clichés that are either tired or done better in other songs in her discography. "Safe & Sound" is already a damn masterpiece, but "Beautiful Ghosts" makes "Safe & Sound" look like a Beethoven magnum opus. It's a shame too because Taylor writing a theatrical song sounds like a match made in Heaven. But instead we got... well, not that.

Has there been any mention of her re-recording her older albums since last year? Hope it’s still happening!

I've decided to make "Daylight" the next single from Lover. I can't wait to see how it does on my personal charts.

I give a small percentage of a chance Taylor ends up recording new material for a new album during this quarantine and that the devastation it caused will influence her song writing.
Artists’ work is going to be reflecting this soon.

I can safely say now that "False God", "Afterglow" and "Cornelia Street" is the trinity of this album. Anyone who says otherwise is a blasphemous hater.

I don’t think she can legally begin to re-record until November, right?
I imagine her quarantine is a lot like pre-reputation where she is constantly wine drunk and boning her bf constantly.

Does anyone think Loverfest East/West will end up happening? Some states are already extending closures into June at this point, and the Loverfest dates aren't far off from that. I don't know how it works with contracts for the international festivals, but given that the US "tour" is only 4 dates in two cities, I could see it being scrapped completely. I hope I'm wrong though.

Also Loverfest West is supposed to take place in a stadium that is under construction. For now, the stadium's construction is somewhat dubiously considered "essential", but I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't get finished in time.

I have tickets for Gillette on 7/31, so I'm hoping she just cancels soon so I can make my peace with it. Wasn't there a rumor that a full tour would happen in 2021? If that ends up being true, then Loverfest will probably not be postponed. There is a limited window for stadium shows on the East Coast.

No way they will allow so many people packed in a stadium in the midst of a pandemic. I also think the virus isn't going anywhere this summer unless they find a quick and miraculous cure/vaccine.

What are the chances that Cruel Summer gets pushed as a single in time for the summer? I know The Man is flopping pretty hard, but maybe they feel like using one of the songs from the album that’s actually, you know, good, will help them get more mileage out of the album.

For various factors: coronavirus situation, "The Man" flopping, Lover Fest probably being canceled/delayed.

Don't bother with Cruel Summer. The time was single #1 or #2. It's too late now.
I think the "problem" with this album was the production was too light and indie-popish. It is not trendy and there was no way it was gonna do well with the young streaming crowd. Her goodwill at radio carried the singes further than it probably should have gone. This was not 1989 level production which was louder and more commercial. I personally think this is a good sound for her going froward if she's willing to stay in her own lane and make music for her fans (yet still selling a shit load of albums) but I feel her days of Hot 100 hits may be over.
The biggest production was sadly "Me" which may be why it was chosen despite it's terribleness. Even Cruel Summer feels very light compared to the 1989 singles.
Still Lover is her third best album to me and I still listen to it regular. During my walks I just alternate between After Hours and Lover for albums.
My current album ranking has changed from when it first came out:
1. The Archer 2. Corneilia St 3. Death By A Thousand Cuts 4. Cruel Summer 5. Lover 6. Afterglow 7. I Think He Knows (This was at the bottom before but it grew on me like crazy) 8. Miss Americana 9. False God 10. Daylight 11. Soon You'll Get Better 12. A bunch that weren't listed are tied here 13. Me

I think Lover is very similar to Speak Now in its commercial viability - an overall very high quality album with excellent songwriting, but sonically not groundbreaking and without an obvious smash hit (maybe "Cruel Summer" could've been - exceptional song, but I'm not as convinced as others that it would've been a massive hit). I think Lover is an amazing addition to Taylor's already stellar catalog, and I think it's different enough from her previous efforts to feel fresh for her, although it doesn't exactly push her into new territory the way that Red, 1989, and reputation did. I hope her next album does sonically challenge her more, but honestly another album as good as Lover would be very welcome considering how high quality it is. The commercial success of Lover just shows how dedicated her fanbase is. Every track has gotten a lot of love from a significant amount of fans, and despite not having a smash hit is still one of the most successful albums of the past several years. Also, this does not just come down to sales - in the US, the album has over 1.3m in streaming activity which is already a pretty big success by today's standards.

Me I can’t agree with her hot 100 hits days being over. Me and you need to calm down both went to number 2 and sold over 300k (a totally respectable number for the current digital age) and went top 10 on pop radio. Taylor is able to get a ton of momentum before a new era and i don’t think we are at the point where that will stop happening yet. 4th singles are hardly released these days without some type of rerelease, they just don’t have a huge path to success in the streaming age.
