She referred to French as "the language of love" during the Ellen interview in the most random and ordinary way and then confirmed that she dropped Easter eggs in the interview. It doesn't sound like an album title to me but she really dropped it during the conversation and it seemed rather casual than sneaky so the Easter egg might actually be there.

I am convinced it is going to be a double album based on easter eggs given up to this point. Her holding up the peace sign with two fingers, the first single being a duet with two perspectives, leaked merch that had "Me!" titled with a #1 (meaning there could be a #2), the Elle magazine spread being a double issue, the Entertainment Weekly spread being a double issue, her story on EW being on page 26 (which could mean 13 tracks on each disc), wore a Drake pin on the cover (his last album was a double disc), her saying it would have more tracks than any album released prior (22 with Red deluxe, which would give credance to the 26 track theory). I am also thinking one disc is filled with uptempos (pink, a bright, uplifting color) and the other with ballads (blue, as in when you are sad you are blue), which she is signaling in her hair colors. She also said the album would have both sad and happy songs covering the full spectrum. At the end of the "Me!" video she has blue-tipped hair, which if the theory is right, would mean single #2 could be a downtempo.
If this is true, it is smart. Double album = double sales figures (500k = 1 million). More tracks = higher sps numbers. She could best her previous first-week numbers with this strategy (she would just need to sell 650-700k albums). Smart af.

I find double albums too bloated, hard to digest and usually have a lot of filler. As much as it makes sense in the streaming world I hope it’s a regular album with a good set of songs

Oh, got it. But yeah, the tweet said "world's best selling album", so it's wrong lol. Well given it is an account on chart statistics, they probably naturally pull from the biggest reputable applicable publications (which would be Billboard), where Rep was highly publicized at #1 domestically in 2017. SPS isn't the same as actual sales and more importantly there aren't any true sources of official WW figures anyway (as it would be nearly impossible to track such)? All I have seen are sites with estimations at best (Media Traffic etc). Still, they should have put domestically regardless, but I digress.. |
