I don’t think it’s in my bottom 2 but I also don’t think it’s that high up for me. Well it's probably mostly because I adore the album so much haha! To be honest, I think The Man would also be in my bottom 3 too :/ The Man is not only my favorite on the album but it’s my favorite Taylor song so I just have no words to it being in your bottom three.

This suddenly took a turn for the worst. I appreciate the lyrical aspect of The Man, it's the sound that lets it down for me. I don't really like the production and the melodies seem weaker than Taylor's usual. The post-chorus is also kinda grating haha, but that's just me.

I'd prefer for the era to end than the man as a single

Loved the trailer! The documentary looks really promising and it seems to be revealing a facet of Taylor that most of us are not too familiar with, especially the casual followers. I also hope we get some nice behind the scenes footage of the songwriting and production process behind "Lover".
On another note, am I the only one really cringing at those stans hyping the fact she said a curse word on the trailer? Like, so what? She's nearly thirty and she has sworn plenty of times before, dating back to her MySpace days. 🙄

I was more embarrassed that billboard highlighted it in an article headline Taylor Swift Rejects the 'Nice Girl' Tag, Drops an F-Bomb in Electrifying 'Miss Americana' Trailer: Watch
Oh my goodness, that's so cringe-worthy! 😬 Still, it was to be expected from an article that misspells Brendon Urie's name - but definitely not the level of professionalism I was expecting from Billboard. There was so much in the trailer to use as a headline: her nearly breaking down when mentioning the events of 2016, her perspective of her political coming-out... yet they had to go for the most predictable, attention-grabbing 'event', if you can even call it that.

Billboard has turned into a cheap ass tabloid. It used to have fewer articles that actually had a... point. Never thought they'd resort to forced headlines and filler material.

That is such a forced and overdone headline... seems like they rethought it like 20 times before deciding it was the "right" one. Got news for you Billboard, it most definitely was not the right one lmao.

Billboard has turned into a cheap ass tabloid. It used to have fewer articles that actually had a... point. Never thought they'd resort to forced headlines and filler material. They write articles about purposely joking tweets artists share in a semi-serious context. This one is steps above those at least.

My updated ranking of the album:
1. Cruel Summer ~ My favorite on first listen and that hasn't changed. 2. The Man ~ I couldn't help thinking how nice a song like this being performed by a man would actually be. That's one of the reasons I liked Keith Urban's "Female," even though its lyrics were mocked. I guess I had that thought because sometimes I change lyrics to fit me so I can sing along to songs. I just think it would be powerful for a male artist to sing about the sexism their female contemporaries face and how people go after them, and at the very end of the song when "She'd be the man" is repeated 4x, have the final two change to "She is the man." The thing is the song could be so cheesy with those lyrics, but it's all in the delivery, imo. She gave it a melancholy, hopeless, bitter quality that makes it powerful. 3. Death by a Thousand Cuts ~ Just gorgeous, every part of it (although I feel the same about all of my top 4, I guess). 4. Afterglow ~ I've been listening to this one a lot the past few days. It took a while to grow on me, and now it's one of my favorites by her. 5. Me! 6. You Need to Calm Down 7. The Archer ~ I actually hated this when I first heard it (and it was the first thing revealed from the album, wasn't it?). My opinion's shifted pretty drastically. I think this and "Afterglow" have similar ideas going on, as far as self-examination. I love some of the lyrics here and it's all in the delivery of some of them. Particularly the "Who could leave me, darling? But who could stay..." 8. Daylight 9. Soon You'll Get Better ~ Beautiful. I still can't help wishing the Dixie Chicks had a bigger role in the vocals though, either on this or another song altogether. 10. It's Nice to Have a Friend ~ This is the song I most associate with the album cover randomly enough, lol. For me, the song kind of has an insane feeling and the cover always gave me apocalyptic "Left Behind" vibes for whatever reason, which is why I associate them. The audio YouTube vids I used for my first listen months ago where the clouds moved behind her might have played a part in that, too. 11. Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince ~ My favorite line, and it saves the whole thing, imo, is "The whole school is rolling fake dice. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes." 12. Lover ~ This is the reverse of a grower. First listen, I loved this until the very end of the chorus, "myah, myah, myah...lover." That sounds great once, but by the end of the song when you've heard it around three more times it's kind of annoying, and so is the way she says lover. And by the time you've listened to the song 10 or more times, you don't want to hear that again. I wonder why she didn't think to save this one for around Valentine's Day, btw. 13. London Boy 14. I Think He Knows 15. Cornelia Street 16. Paper Rings 17. I Forgot That You Existed 18. False God
I love the top 10. I like 11-14 (London Boy and ITHK have risen), but I have to listen to them sparingly or they'll get on my nerves. Going through those last 4 songs again to rank them, I realized even those songs are growing on me.

www.metacritic.com/movie/miss-americana67 out of 9 professional reviews. Not exactly the slam dunk I was hoping for or expecting but still gonna watch. It doesn't sound like it goes as deep as people might expect.

I still can't get over "I Think He Knows". The production during the chorus gets me every time. Love it!

She's likely not attending the Grammys because of the health issues with her mom.

I still can't get over "I Think He Knows". The production during the chorus gets me every time. Love it! SAME OVER HERE! After this, I play the Delicate-esque vibe of Cornelia Street, which is then followed by Death By A Thousand Cuts (I love this song so much!!!) Then I'll let London Boy play. After that, I skip to Afterglow and go back to the start of the album and play the first four tracks.

I'm relistening to Lover again, and I forgot how many highlights there were. It's still so difficult to decide favorites since it changes all the time. My top 3 was previous "Cruel Summer", "Afterglow", "I Think He Knows", "Cornelia Street", and "The Man". Today it's "Cruel Summer", "Miss Americana", "Afterglow", "False God" and "The Man". I fell back in love with "Miss Americana" after the documentary trailer, and "False God" is easily just... superior.
This is like the 5th time my ranking has changed. It's crazy. It's really a great album. Not her best, but one of for sure.

"I Think He Knows", while being one of my least played tracks, has the biggest "Taylor Swift hit" energy. I can see the hook parallels between this and her early hits like "You Belong With Me". Now, I don't know how it would perform as a single but it's very Swift-esque.

Unless Taylor herself comes out and says she backed out of the Grammy's performance/attending, I'm not going to believe it because right now it's just unnamed sources.
