Phew, I wonder if her back hurts from carrying the entire music industry Didn't you hear? She was hospitalized overnight from back injuries as a result of carrying the music industry. I've been praying for her; I'm worried. :'( In unrelated but perhaps WONDERFUL news...I heard "Cruel Summer" on my local pop station's radio yesterday.  |

Lover is still doing good biz so time for a new song. a Cruel Summer is upon us YASSSS!! May 8 and May 22 are the two biggest Twitter theories and I think the FBI might have something with at least one of them. I really have a good feeling either way that CS is next |

Taylor will definitely want some longevity this era, if only to send a big F.U. to Big Machine and Scooter. She doesn’t want her first album on the new label to be cut short.
Cruel Summer is definitely the Delicate of this era. It’s trendy and laidback and there’s nothing grating about it. Should do well!

Cruel Summer is the best song on Lover, and this is coming from someone who thoroughly enjoys every song on that album. I've just keep coming back to it, over and over again. That bridge is flawless.

(I'm one of the Swifties--@delicategrqnt on Twitter; just exposed myself lol) and one of the other Cruel Summer theories is that it could be announced as a single on May 22. Lots of "22" song references have gone on under our noses this era, including Taylor's recent post where she captioned "Not a lot going on at the moment" which is a reference to the song. Another conspiracy is that it could be remixed for radio by Marshmallo. I personally think it'd be perfect for radio as is, though. |

Death by a Thousand Cuts randomly came on my shuffle last night and I was reminded what a great album Lover is all over again. Not sure why this album hit me the way it did when it did since I’ve never cared for Taylor before really. I think sometimes you find the music you need for a particular moment in time that just cliques. Any other time I probably wouldn’t have given it a second listen. I’ll probably stop caring about it (outside of nostalgia) later this year but like many albums before, this one has become engrained as a chapter of my soundtrack.

It's always going to be hard to rank Taylor's songs because almost all of her songs are really good. Some of her songs are also very polarizing. Songs like YNTCD and LWYMD have huge amounts of people who think they're among Taylor's best and among Taylor's worst. It's interesting that they put 5 Lover songs in her top 20 and 8 Lover songs in her top 40. I don't necessarily disagree, Lover has some outstanding songs.

There's always going to be some songs on these lists that aren't as high as they should be, but as long as the songs that round out their top ranks are great, and they have some interesting things to say that can give you a newfound appreciation for certain songs, they can still be a good read. |
