We kick things off in the Real Fine Place reveals with one of the Target edition bonus tracks, "You," being the decisive last place. It flirted with escaping last during a few lists near the onset, but never made it out of the bottom 2, and ultimately finishes here with an over 25-point deficit. Most who did predictions correctly suggested this one would be ill-fated, and it wipes out a whopping six last place rankings right off the bat! Only two posters propped this one up with top-half ranks, with nearly everyone else putting it in their bottom 3. This sleepy love ballad was imo an easy cushion for last on her magnum opus, but from here on out things get interesting. "can't find lyrics for this one online and I don't like it enough to write them myself"

We take back-to-back losses from the Target bonus tracks as "Caged" flies in the footsteps of its predecessor right out of this rankdown. A much better and livelier song than the previous reveal, this uptempo fiddle-laden track has a very bluegrassy throwback feel to it and the bridge instrumental is gorgeous. It received minimal support on a record as strong as Real Fine Place, however, and was a consistent presence in the bottom 3 as submissions rolled in. It too only received top-half ranks from a mere two posters (and poor d3vin44 is one of them, again), instead weighed down by a majority of low ranks that surprisingly included only two last place placements as well, but the overwhelming amount of ranks in the 11-15 range did it no favors to allow it to fly here. "Ooh, when the black crow flies Cries out a warning to my soul Lift above your sorrow and Don't let it take control, take control And let your spirit rise"

I’ve always loved “You”. Was it a bonus on Born To Fly? I can’t remember anymore but it sounds more along the lines of that album. I really like the different things she does with her voice on it.

Not surprised or disappointed to see "Caged" leave. I just know it's gonna get ugly very quickly tho.

Up next we deviate as the final bonus track standing does not round out our bottom 3, but instead we lose our first track from the standard edition of the album that most are familiar with!

Yep. It was randomly cherry-picked over for this album five years later after being an international bonus track on Born to Fly. bboat11 was initially upset I didn't include it on that album as a result, but I've always owned the Target edition of RFP so for me "You" has always been apart of this album.

"Momma's Night Out," a very raucuous jazzy/swampy number with horns and charismatic backing vocals that feels like a more refined sister to "Big Cry" of Restless, was met with some of the most polarizing rankings of anything on the album and thus is the first standard edition track to go out. Despite triple the top 10 support than either of the previous two reveals, this one also racked up a damning six last place rankings that ultimately did momma in. Personally I find this song to be a total jam, but it is an outlier on the record and for some it proved to be a style that was not their preference from Sara Evans. "Now take a good look, darlin' At the smile on my face It's been a long, hard week and I'm ready to play"

We took a slight departure from taking out the bonus tracks, but we quickly snap back to eliminate "Best Days Are Coming" before diving any deeper into the standard edition of the record. The sunny optimism in the lyrics and delivery of this song are always fun and it feels a bit more commercial and like a natural fit for the album proper than the other two bonus tracks did, so that likely contributed to it getting quite a bit more mileage than the others. Still, the album is STACKED and despite our first top 5 losses from George Strait Junkie and castleoblivion26 and another sizable pocket of top 10 support, the majority of participants slotted this one somewhere closer to the bottom and never stood a chance of outlasting anything else on the album aside from 'Momma.' bboat11 finally loses his #16 here. "Ain't it something how the kids are growing I wish we could keep 'em young But it's fun to watch and wonder What they'll become A few years they'll up and move on With luck, we'll still have our health Along with a few grandbabies And the house to ourselves "

I almost forgot this song existed. She teased it as a lead single at some point to very little excitement.

I saw her with Alan Jackson around 2005ish before the album came out and Momma's Night Out was one of the three new songs she performed so I've always had a soft spot for it!

Hahaha there's no "initially" about it... The fact is, it was recorded for and released on the Born To Fly album, regardless of how you choose to perceive it. Poor "Four-Thirty" is the real victim here though, settling for a last place finish that it did NOT deserve :'( But honestly we're arguing about which album it should have finished in last place for, which just goes to show how little this debate actually matters 😂

It was not released here until 2005, regardless of our ability to dig up obscure songs with limited releases, and even then it was buried on a Target edition of the record that came out long before those were regular things. The only way you even know it was originally on BTF would be because of the Internet not because you were jamming to the song back in 2001.

Anyway, "You" is an obvious and fitting last place, mostly because it doesn't even slightly match this album sonically, and was not recorded to be a part of this album. I do like it a lot, but it definitely did not deserve to do well here.
"Caged" is easily the best of the bonus tracks. However, the melody is very weird and does take a few tries to really get into, so I am not all that surprised to see it perform the way it did here.
"Momma's Night Out" is definitely in the bottom half of the album, but only because the album is so strong. It did NOT deserve to be the lowest of the regular tracks though!! What a travesty. This song is fun and catchy and unlike anything else Sara has ever really done, but she does the style so well. And yes, it was a definite JAM to hear live around the time the album was released!
Glad to see "Best Days Are Coming" leave before we took out any more regular tracks. To me this has always just sounded like a cheap demo recording. It doesn't help that the song itself is just super generic and bland. On an album this strong, there was no room for it to go any further.

This entire argument is ignoring the fact that we were only 7-8 years old in 2001. You act like the only reason we didn't discover it back then is because we didn't live internationally, when in reality the bigger factor is that we were too young to care about anything but toys and friends We could have literally lived in Europe and still not realized what was happening. By the time RFP came out, we were 12, by which age we were old enough to have fully started actively stanning. Our ability to care and seek out information was not even remotely similar for the two eras. But anyway, none of that changes when it was literally recorded and released.

And I was actively stanning Carrie during Carnival Ride, at which time I was 7-8! (and that's old enough to process what was happening. I remember when I literally forced the whole family to watch the CMT Awards in 2008 so that I could see her perform "All-American Girl." Introduced by Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus, and as she finished singing confetti was raining down. Applause was thunderous. She was wearing a pink dress.) By age 12, I owned every album and "Blown Away" and "Two Black Cadillacs" were my new jams! Wore the CD out every day just to constantly go over those two tracks then again i didn't have friends so i had to find something to do with my time and i guess that was it.
