Also, man things are starting to get shocking!!!!! I figured recency bias would help boost "Dolly 1969" at least 10 positions higher than that. Like, I never even considered that it wouldn't make the top 20! "Rough And Tumble Heart" is SO catchy!!!!! What are we doing?!?!! We should NOT be eliminating songs from her first 3 albums while Thunder And Roses remains completely intact, as much as I enjoy all the songs from that album Although outside of RATH, we have at least lost the correct songs from her first three albums. "Draggin' My Chains" is the weak link on her debut album (although definitely deserved better here! Her debut could have remained unscathed until the top 20 and I would have been perfectly fine with it!). "Love Is Only Human" is one that I actively enjoy while listening, but I am never all that invested until the second half. I always want to skip it in my mind until I force myself to let it play. "'Til All The Lonely's Gone" is catchy, featuring a pretty strong vocal from Pam, but still just feels a little bit campy or something. The biggest problem with the Every Time album is still the production for me... I did find the song quality to be overall a little bit less memorable too, but songs like "Whiskey On The Wound" and "A Whisper And A Scream" are great songs that would potentially be even higher on my list if they were from Thunder & Roses or any of her early '90s albums...

At this point my fingers are crossed for "Someone Somewhere Tonight" to even make the top 20! I had initially predicted it to be a dark horse top 5 contender, but after seeing how y'all treated "Dolly 1969" I'm scared....... It being the lone holdout from her more "recent" albums does not bode well, lmao. Just 5 more positions!!!!

Given that "Til All The Lonely's Gone" was the first album track out in Sweetheart’s Dance, I’m actually kind of surprised that it managed to even make it this far. I had put it in the top 5 there myself, but for the most part y’all put it down in the bottom 2 lol. If anything, this probably just goes to show you the strength of that album overall though.
Glad to see “Rose In Paradise” slide into the top 30! As a huge fan of the original song by Waylon, so because of that I set the bar pretty high for Pam and Lorrie to woo me and they didn’t disappoint! This was definitely one of my favorite discoveries from Pam’s album series.
Speaking of favorite discoveries, “Whiskey on the Wound” was pretty much at the top of that list! I too thought that the album Every Time suffered a bit because of its production, but this was definitely one of the standouts from it. I thought this would’ve gotten a bit more support though other than two lone top 5s from myself and our host.
I knew I’d be one of the lowest ranking participants for “Dolly 1969” as I was also the lowest ranking participant in the album rankdown. While I like the premise of the song itself, I just have a hard time getting into it.

It really doesn’t surprise me to see her more recent albums get knocked out first.

I’m surprised that “Five Minutes” is out so early. It’s such a great song, and I think it would’ve been a big hit had Pam released her version first.

Fuuuuuck we literally let the Thunder & Roses album nearly make the top 20 completely intact, and then "Jagged Hearts" is the song that gets screwed out of the top 20?!??!!!?!!? Shameful. This is an epic power ballad worthy of Martina, Faith, Carrie, or Reba. I know things are ultra-competitive now because every song that's left is amazing, but this deserved the top 20 over most of the songs on its own album at the very least... Could have easily kept it instead of the "Say You Love Me" cover as well. "I Smile" is catchy, so I'm glad to see it make it as long as it did if it was bound to be the first song from the album to leave! It's not nearly as egregious of an omission from the top 20 as "Jagged Hearts" is, but I will echo what I said about how I wouldn't have minded seeing it outlast at least a couple of its peers on T&R that did make the top 20... "Someone Somewhere Tonight" goes without saying that I'm disappointed about. This is just such a nuanced and passionate vocal that I can't help but be moved by every time I hear it. Easily one of the best vocals of her career. Everyone who ranked it in their bottom half is just plain incorrect! Also at tim ranking this at #1 with me in the album rankdown and then ranking everything else on the album above it here!!!!!!

Something that I did realize while doing this rankdown is that the album Rhinestoned really left its mark on me as I lost quite a few high rankings from it. Those include a top 15 with “Something Burning Out”, a top 20 with “That Was a Heartache”, and a top 5 with “Train Without a Whistle”. Aside from “Down By the Water”, all three of those songs were amongst my favorite discovers from the album series overall and were songs that I kept wanting to come back around to revisit. I wish this album was available on streaming services because it also appears to be next to impossible to locate otherwise (a new audio cd on Amazon is going for almost $80!). But apparently not the one song on the album that actually matters!!!!!!

Also "Five Minutes" is Lorrie Morgan's song. I'm glad Pam's version didn't take up space in the top 20, because it is totally not essential in her hands. Definitely still a great song, but she has better! Edit: Wait I just realized this is ccarter's #1. Looks like "Someone Somewhere Tonight" and "Jagged Hearts" have already gotten their revenge!

This top 20 is going pretty well so far! Pam's cover of "Say You Love Me" is really strong!! I'm a little surprised to see it in the top 20 because it's just so random, but it's an excellent cover, and I kinda wish she had more material from the last ten years that sounded like this! Speaking of modern songs that are really strong, I am so happy that "New Set Of Wings" managed to do so well here!!! That was the only song from the "Extras" that I felt was absolutely essential to be in this top 20, and I'm glad it snuck in! Her voice may have lost a liiiittle bit of power through the years, but otherwise she still sounds so pure and clear, and this is an amazing song! Let's spend the rest of the 2020s doing more songs like this and less like Looking For A Feeling, please Pam! "Which Five Years" is a really good song, I just find it to be not among my favorites from the T&R album, hence my low rank for it. I would have loved to have "Off White", "Space", or ESPECIALLY "If I Didn't Love You" in this rankdown instead of it..... This is the one that should have missed the top 20 by one position, not "Jagged Hearts"... "It Isn't Just Raining" is beautiful, but I have no complaints about it leaving now. At least it made the top 20! (RIP to "Jagged Hearts") (I'm a broken record, buy y'all are the ones who broke me so you're going to have to deal with it!) "Ancient History" is the only song in these last 5 that I am surprised to see miss the top 15! This song SLAYS!!! The chorus flows so perfectly from the lower lines to the higher lines, and it's made even better by the same echoey '90s production that made songs like "Maybe It Was Memphis" and "One Of Those Things" so epic. What the hell is that flop ass rank in the 50s?!?!!?!! Like, anything in the bottom 20 shouldn't even be physically possible considering how many flimsy Lorrie Morgan duets, Mel Tillis covers, and Looking For A Feeling tracks there were in this rankdown....

It's definitely time to get rid of some of the Sweethearts Dance songs, but it continues to baffle me that the title track is the one that always gets the shaft. This literally sounds like a smash hit to my ears, while "Better Off Blue" and "They Don't Break 'Em Like They Used To" are very much just good-but-average '90s album tracks. At least it made the top 15, which it deserved!

I'm really not sure what I was thinking when I ranked this song, cause honestly I had forgotten I had ranked it that low lol. I really don't outright dislike anything so it was likely a case where it landed within songs that just blended in with other songs for me and didn't stick with me all.
