So are they counting the Airplay chart runs as if they were Hot 100 runs?

So are they counting the Airplay chart runs as if they were Hot 100 runs? See the description in post 1 - that is all I know so far If we compare the positions I just posted to Rockgolfs chart - there are likely between 15 and 20 radio songs that will make the list

Looking at figures in Joel Whitburn's Hot 100 Annual: www.recordresearch.com/pop/pop_annual_1955-2016.phpJoel lists songs by their peak position. Number of songs that peaked in the Top 10 during each individual year: 80 - 81 81 - 78 82 - 71 83 - 87 84 - 89 85 - 108 86 - 109 87 - 112 88 - 113 89 - 118 total = 966 Number of songs that peaked on the Hot 100 during each individual year: 80 - 470 81 - 408 82 - 424 83 - 452 84 - 434 85 - 404 86 - 397 87 - 400 88 - 388 89 - 392 total = 4,169 Billboard could compile a Top 4,000 countdown of the 1980s.

They probably do have a top 4000 In fact they probably have the entire database sorted by their point system
As I believe, Rockgolf does too (well his version anyway)

I'm sure they do. But, we'll never see the list or hear it. The Top 500 was more for chart geeks. 80s on 8 plays most of that music all the time. I really don't need to hear Billie Jean again.

Inspired by these shows I got a subscription. It's really worth the money so far. Also 70s on 7 runs Classic AT40, been meaning to get this for that show anyway.

^Yes, the weekly countdown shows on the 70s, 80s and 90s channels are so good. They really take you back.
I really like the New Wave (#34) and Old School R&B (#50) channels.

So "You Learn" was the dominant song in Alanis Morissette's "You Learn"/"You Oughta Know" double-A side? I figured it'd be "You Oughta Know", since it's the better-known song.

I wonder how they will handle songs for which their Hot 100 chart runs were abbreviated by the limited and/or delayed availability of a physical single. For example, a single was not released for "My Heart Will Go On" until long after it began to dominate radio. If the single had been released sooner and its quantity was not limited, it would have had a much longer run at No. 1 than just two mere weeks.

By the time the commercial single came out, "YOK" had peaked and "You Learn" was the single. 2. I could be wrong, but I think the "YOK" on that single was the live version from the Grammys. 3. "YOK" had more impact in a sense, but it's what broke Alanis and future singles actually did better on the charts ("YOK" peaked at #9 Top 40 and "YL" at #1).

So far it looks like Lullaby and As Long As You Love Me were elevated by partial or no Hot 100 runs

I expect You Oughta Know to be in the top 100 on this list. Why would it be top 100 on the list? It's technically just the b-side to "You Learn," and that single peaked at #6 on the Hot 100. Unless it had a really long chart run, I can't see it making the top 100. We're already seeing #1 hits being revealed well before the top 100. If you're thinking it will chart on its own as an airplay-only single, it didn't even make the top 5 in airplay so why would it chart in the overall 100? What am I missing?

They look like they are including radio songs with abbreviated chart runs on the Hot 100
They just played My Heart Will Go On at 349
Looks like they are not elevating songs that were big airplay hits but had limited Hot 100 runs because the single was limited

I think it's weird to know how to count radio-only songs in general since an airplay chart can't really be compared to the Hot 100, but something like "MHWGO" would be its own case. Even though they weren't limited to the same degree, Mariah's "I'll Be There" and "Fantasy" (among others) were limited/deleted singles and fell down the chart quicker than they would have otherwise. Do you account for that, too? If you start parsing things that specifically, it gets really complicated.
