Taykor getting number one isn't a forgone conclusion but its more likely than not imo. She'll be following a song that silently made the top 30 on the year end charts and nearly topped Airplay after 3 pretty hard flops. And her last two debut singles are 2 of the very few songs to top 100k points week one, so I'd say its likely. But it depends on how fast OTR peaks too Shake It Off peaked with less than 90k. She could debut at #1 just with the hype that she always had, but we're just remembering Delicate being top 3 on radio and forgetting that song peaked at #12 for a reason: it was a huge flop on streaming.

Fair but her being backed by the streaming kings Republic will certainly help her streaming. It getting pretty solid airplay shows that the GP is still stanning, at least her pop songs

Travis and The Weeknd’s current single hasn’t done shit, why would the new single be huge?

Will likely have two singles debut in the top 10 on the May 11 chart. TS obviously and The Weeknd and Travis Scott.

Old Town Road just had the biggest streaming week of all time, without no music video. 83.3M on-demand streams; 52.4M YT streams and an unknown amount of other streams, will contribute 135.6M streams alone, with that number only likely to trend up as HDD's on-demand streams chart were called early, I'd say 86M on-demand streams. Likely 140M streams this week.

And I see Lil Nas X just pissing off TS's team when he drops the video for OTR the same day as she drops her new stuff. Not good timing for Taylor. Her team should most definitely move the release date to mid-May or after summer because I'm sure Drake will be releasing new music and she won't be able to beat any of his solo songs.

Why should artists care what songs are hits on any given date? It doesn't work that way.

If Taylor’s songs are as big as we think. It won’t matter when it is released or how big Old Town Road or Drake is. It will hit #1 anyway

I mean it's unfair to compare a song that was just released as a single from a 8 month old album that has yet to receive a music video, to a song that is going to be newly released from a highly anticipated soundtrack.

I hate Swifties.

I hate Swifties. Two important things you should know before you open your mouth next time: 1. I have never said anything bad about Old Town Road, I like the song and its success. But Lil Nas X is nothing compared to Taylor. 2. Swiftie? Never once have I expressed those feelings because they aren't there. xo

Also, this is a songs chart, not the "most popular artist" chart. Mark Ronson and LMFAO have the two biggest hits of the century so I don't give a f... about Lil Nas X vs. TS. If you're a Swiftie or no, I don't care but you're certainly as annoying as most Swifties. Bye!

i don't want to jinx it, but i think taylor will be able to get her #1. old town road is an obvious obstacle, but it won't be at 900~ points forever. i see lil nas x's label try to compete against taylor and release the billy ray cyrus remix the same day to block her. even if it doesn't debut at #1, there's a good chance it might be able to climb there.
plus taylor is following up the success of "delicate", which was a huge radio smash sleeper hit that was liked a lot more than the previous three singles. i don't think streaming will be much of an issue considering she's with republic.... but we'll have to see in two weeks to know for sure what happens lol.
edit: meant to mention the remix music video instead of the remix itself

New Taylor/folks wishing OTR to go away now that the meme is dead/New controversial JB song in a week/Travis Scott + The Weeknd same day release as Taylor. where’s the news about Justin Bieber? And about Travis Scott and The Weeknd? I’d love it if they released new stuff to make the year more interesting I just haven’t seen anything about them I heard the Travis Scott/weekend song the other day on my local chr.

If Taylor’s songs are as big as we think. It won’t matter when it is released or how big Old Town Road or Drake is. It will hit #1 anyway That's exactly it. Taylor's songs are not as big as we think. Not anymore. And of course it'll matter, if the current #1 is pulling over 100 million streams when she drops, it won't be enough for her to debut at #1, yet alone stay there. Taylor's songs don't typically spend a lot of time at #1 so there's no assurance that her new single could spend some time at #2 and then eventually get to #1.

I hate Swifties. I love the denial Taylor's fans have. I also love the delusion her fans on ATRL have, thinking that because she's now signed to Republic, she'll automatically become this massive streaming artist because Drake, Ariana and Post Malone are all signed to Republic and are massive streaming acts. It doesn't work that way.
