It's looking like Just Us might somehow come out the winner of Father of Asahad - First out of the album on Spotify even after not starting that high, and second in the radio. It might be wishful thinking but this might be the big hit of the album after radio steamrolls in. i think it would've been smarter to go with wish wish. the high streams on spotify probably come from its TTH placement. wish wish right now is more stable apple music and imo should've received the TTH placement and radio push. this could also apply to jealous/higher/celebrate. although i'd be really happy for sza if this turned out to be a big hit!

Old Town Road is a monster hit, having that many points during its eight week at #1 is crazy. YouTube is holding up really well so the video should help keep it's points up during it's ninth frame.
Really the entire marketing of this song has been incredible, hats off to the label. Saving the video until later into it's run at #1 was a great idea.

Really makes you wonder why some artists still release snoozefest videos at random points on a song's chart run. In the streaming age, the right video can do wonders.

Ellie Goulding too. Huge radio hit "Close to Me" being one of the top 10 most played songs on the year when it didn't even get top 20? A damn shame.

So if despacito started its chart run now, would it dethrone OTR? Despacito peaked with less than 80k points and its main strength (YouTube) was downweighted last year, so it would've peaked with less than 70k this year. OTR has 75k+ points for seven consecutive weeks (counting this week).

Is this the lowest peaking song on the billboard 100 to reach Diamond? As far as I know, it very well could be. I've never seen such a massive song peak #8 like Congratulations. This song performed like it was #1 for 10 weeks.

So far this year 6 songs have peaked at #2 (Happier, BWYGIB, Wow, Me, IDC, and IICHY). It seems like OTR is also going to block a couple more songs. Will this year be one having the most #2 songs in recent times?
The year with the most #2 singles is 1969 with 16. Then it's a three-way tie: 1968,1989 and 1999 with 14 each.

They’re all in the second to last or last year of a decade, and if this year (2019) joins that list it’ll continue that trend.

I thought this was certified Diamond in January? Actually, last 9x platinum certification was on March 19, 2019. So, for it to certified diamond so quickly seems off.

I don’t want to look for the Maroon 5 thread so I’ll just do what everyone else does and dump this in here:
Adam has quit The Voice. Maroon 5 are gonna be finished!

"OTR" is back to having some kind of resurgence, too. For the past 7 days both versions are up a bit on Spotify. On iTunes the remix is back to having basically a 5:1 lead on the #10 song, and of course the other version is still getting a bit of sales.

Good riddance, after that bullshit he pulled last year on the show by letting Reagan pass even though she didn't perform, cuz he has "a very special relationship with her" and totally betrayed his entire team. Adam Levine needs to just go away honestly, I'm so sick of him. He's shown so many times over the course of his career that he has no tact, not only is he a huge sell out but he is a big douche. No matter how many videos of celebrity women he films dancing to his boring music. I hope we leave Maroon 5 in the 2010's.

So if despacito started its chart run now, would it dethrone OTR? Despacito started its chart run like 4 months before it got to #1, so if it started its chart run now it would probably (definitely) still get to #1, but too late to dethrone OTR. Another song will probably get to #1 before September. And it always annoyed me how people solely credited Justin Bieber to Despacito's success, because the original was doing remarkably well by itself, especially for a song that wasn't even in English, and wasn't on pop radio (yet). I think it could've been a good top 40 (maybe top 20) Hot 100 hit in the US even without Bieber.

No, everyone else DOES NOT just do this. If you hate him/them so much that you felt the need to just randomly stir up this discussion that is not only not related to this week's Hot 100 but the Hot 100 in general, I feel sorry for you. PLEASE move this discussion far away from here. I mean, there's a boatload of sh*t I could just randomly bring up about so many artists, so don't get me started!!

Is this the lowest peaking song on the billboard 100 to reach Diamond? It's too easy for songs to hit diamond imo. Especially with streaming.

Is this the lowest peaking song on the billboard 100 to reach Diamond? It's too easy for songs to hit diamond imo. Especially with streaming. It is really? Like 20 songs are Diamond. And there’s like an average of maybe 2 Diamond songs released per year. No different than how there is dozens upon dozens of albums from 70s-90s that are Diamond, but almost none today. Was it “easier” then or was album consumption by the public just at an all time high therefore certifications also were? Today consuming a song is done more than ever by the public. You don’t have physical singles released in limited quantities for limited times. Everyone consumes hundreds if not thousands of songs per year. So it makes sense song certifications would currently be reflected at higher rates than ever.
