Speaking of done dirty...
3 = Lil Nas X - Old Town Road (feat. Billy Ray Cyrus) [Remix] 47 3 (x8) 119.60 -0.06
It's already falling on radio??!
After 2 weeks it'll become the second 10+ week Hot 100 #1 in Soundscan era to peak this low in audience impression (not even 100m in BDS AI). The first's Candle in the Wind, right? But that's an event single.
Even In My Feelings did better than this. Feels pretty flat, sales and streaming going incredible and beyond, but the third metric just ain't there. i thought you've been creaming yourself over "OT Road" for the past 2 months.. I still really like it. That’s why I was gonna say, it deserves dominant airplay performance too. You didn’t read my tone. People never do.

It was going to happen soon (10+ weeks at #1 with less than 100M AI) because radio is dying but I get your point: a song as dominant as OTR has been should've reached at least 130M AI (GLY/High Hopes peak)...

By that logic then something as dominant on radio as "Girls Like You" should have gone #1 on streaming (it didn't even come close).
There's no need for all the components to line up perfectly.

I can't imagine how much bigger TLC's "Fanmail" era would've been if TLC never rejected "Where My Girls At?". I think it would have done better than "Unpretty" and possibly almost as big as "No Scrubs" Fanmail was done dirty. That album was jam packed with smashes. Omg yes! I remember when "No Scrubs" premiered after almost a 5 year absence, and that was such a moment. Breaking airplay records left and right, and then "Unpretty" hits #1 and they seemed unstoppable. But then the album just flopped :(

^ Actually Silly Ho charted first, which I thought was kind of fun, but it flopped, only reaching #59. Not quite sure what happened with that, whether it was just a buzz single, or maybe it was too edgy for radio.

Silly Ho was planned as the first official single, but was quickly relegated to "Buzz Single" when it underperformed. The whole concept of "Buzz Singles" was very new back in late 1998, and were called "Teaser Tracks" by Billboard.
"Dear Lie", the fourth single, did not light up Rhythmic or Urban after "Unpretty".
"Shout" was remixed, re-recorded and turned into a duet with the then-red hot Enrique Iglesias, but was later pulled, possibly because it would be the third straight single that wouldn't completely fit with the 2000 Urban landscape. I also heard the whole era was abandoned due to in-fighting between Left Eye and the others.

"Sweet But Psycho" getting to Top 10 should hopefully calm A.V.A M.A.X down and make him/her cheer in joy. But actually, I've been waiting for it to enter too. But eek, the DJ Khaled songs being lower than I thought it would, with Wish Wish the only one inside Top 40.

I'm talking about smash hits that spend 10+ weeks at #1. They're usually songs the carry an era, lining all the stars. It feels like A game when a song can top every component chart for 10 or more weeks, that's what Uptown Funk and Closer did to win the entire game. Despacito's not even in English but it topped airplay. Only God's Plan and In My Feelings this decade in that category to fail to reach top 2 peak in all 3 component charts (both peaked #3 on radio, GP peaked at 116m in BDS airplay, IMF 109m). Old Town Road isn't even reaching 100m is looking like it's missing out on sh*ts. If it's because it's too hardcore urban and not AC-friendly, then explain Blurred Lines, Irreplaceable, Gold Digger, Yeah!, One Dance, etc. None of these looks like they can cross over to anything either, they don't have cross-genre appeal. How did they get to peak 160m+?

May 30, 196401 02 Love Me Do - The Beatles (1st and only week at #1)02 04 Chapel Of Love - The Dixie Cups 03 01 My Guy - Mary Wells 04 05 Love Me With All Your Heart - The Ray Charles Singers 05 03 Hello, Dolly! - Louis Armstrong 06 07 (Just Like) Romeo And Juliet - The Reflections 07 10 A World Without Love - Peter & Gordon 08 11 Little Children - Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas 09 09 It's Over - Roy Orbison 10 16 Walk On By - Dionne Warwick The Beatles' 4th #1 hit in just 4 months. Surely some kind of record, then and now. In addition, the early British Invasion had arrived; the London based Dave Clark Five had already made a splash in the top 10, and now they were joined by both London based singing duo Peter & Gordon, and fellow Liverpool based, Brian Epstein managed, Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas in the Billboard Top 10. And that was only a taste of what was to come.

I've been collecting recent Hot 100 charts, the airplay number a decade ago looked just about the same. 60-70m for #10. By that logic everything's "dying". Remember how low the Hot 100 points for weekly top 10 still are other than OT Road?

The points are low on the Hot 100 because they keep decreasing streaming to "help" sales and radio and the differences between radio's top 10/20 and streaming's top 10/20 are significant. If you look only at #10 for the Radio Songs chart, you'll see a 5-10% decrease from 3-4 years ago, but when you look at the top five it's much bigger. DWAS, Sucker and 7 rings' peaks are just terrible for multi-week #1s. It's been two years since a song reached 160M (That's What I Like) and more than a year without a 150M song (Perfect).

01 01 Old Town Road 02 02 I Don't Care 03 03 Sucker 04 05 Wow. 05 09 Talk 06 04 Bad Guy 07 06 Sunflower 08 07 Dancing With a Stranger 09 10 Without Me 10 12 Sweet But Psycho I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be off-base big time because these margins are just *way* too tight and because of it some really bonkers things happen (Talk jumping to the top 5, Bad Guy slipping out of it).

DWAS, Sucker and 7 rings' peaks are just terrible for multi-week #1s. It's been two years since a song reached 160M (That's What I Like) and more than a year without a 150M song (Perfect). Depends on how you weigh the numbers and what approach you take. It takes a true mathematician and philosopher to figure out all the era variations and numbers pattern from these charts. I don't know if there's any mathematician in this forum. What the universe is telling us from these charts. I just browsed a little through the charts of early decade, spring of 2011, winter of 2012 or something, the #5 for the Radio Songs chart pulled 80-90m in weaker weeks. That's just slightly higher than the current radio situation (70-80m). One obvious thing is that this era has that on-edge and moderate energy, it feels like non-action on Hot 100 other than the buzz of OT Road, streaming #1s stalled at 2017 level (35m-60m) before OT Road came along. Urban's still going strong but it's hard to pull off Drake's numbers. Pop is gonna soften and rebalance the metric balance. Streaming's big number is not gonna keep going easily, look at youtube, most viewed video chart: kworb.net/youtube/topvideos2018.htmlkworb.net/youtube/topvideos2017.htmlLook at top 5/20/50/100, etc, 2018 views was actually lower than 2017. It could either be after numbers are smaller across-the-board after 2017 or streaming is as good as it gets. These weeks sales #1s have been incredibly dominate proportionately to #10 though as I pointed out so many times. But I know raw number game is a thing too and now 1 (million) is the new target for smash hits and it makes the world really feel like, there's nothing there to begin with. Hot 100's not gonna generate big numbers at this era. Things are turning into nihilism.

Billboard Top 10 from 35, 30, 25, and 20 years ago: May 29, 199902 02 No Scrubs - TLC 05 09 Where My Girls At? - 702 I can't imagine how much bigger TLC's "Fanmail" era would've been if TLC never rejected "Where My Girls At?". I also heard the whole era was abandoned due to in-fighting between Left Eye and the others. "Baby One More Time" was also originally recorded for TLC. Then ofcourse it went to Britney. I doubt it would've been nearly as big if they released it, would've alienated the Urban/Rhythmic radio and sounded a bit drastic for them at Pop. Seems like they didn't have any direction with Fanmail. It was just about staying relevant after an absence in a changing climate. My mom said she didn't like the era awhile back because it was 'too Pop' lol. I don't think they would've had much success after that era even Left Eye was alive considering there was also group drama.

I could so hear TLC singing "Baby One More Time". Yes it's a pop song when Britney sings it but they could of added a few more rhythmic elements to it for TLC. It's not like "Unpretty" is an RnB jam??
On a side note I can see why "Old Town Road" isn't burning up some of the genre's airplay chart. It has a parody element to it and that probably turn some people off. I used to feel the same way about radio. Play what's selling and now streaming best but that doesn't always work for everyone. Look at "Harlem Shake". I can't imagine people who just want to flip on the radio to do house cleaning or have a long drive wanting to hear that a few times. "Old Town Road" is very Urban in my opinion especially if you don't listen to the lyrics. I could see some people thinking it was "Ridin (dirty) by Chamilionaire and finding that a turn off. Though it did peak at num.3 back in the day at pop.

AllAccess continues to experience glitches in both its charts and the recurrent lists so Kworb's radio estimates continue to have wild inaccuracies.

As in, I can tell the original "Speechless" they meant is a different song - I still don't know what that song is though. Google suggested Dan + Shay, whoever they are.
