Having listened to this album over the past week, Melodrama and Pure Heroine are much better albums. It's always tough to followup an great album and while the already released singles are the highlight of the album, there is a few good album tracks there with "Secrets from a Girl (Who's Seen It All)","California" & "Fallen Fruit", all coming from the great first half of the album. I usually like longer tracks but "Oceanic Feeling" just isn't that great of a song.I don't think I will be coming back to this album like "Melodrama" or "Pure Heroine",hopefully this album will be a grower for sure in the future. When you are a pop star like Lorde and with the long wait,There is always going to be lots of expectations for her albums but I feel this one falls short.

#2 in the UK. Her highest charting album there. Her debut peaked at #4 and the second at #5.

#2 in the UK. Her highest charting album there. Her debut peaked at #4 and the second at #5. UK tasteless as always. "Bad Habits" is a 10-week #1 and Lorde's lowest-peaking record is Melodrama... happy to see this album is resonating more with consumers overseas.

The Man With The Axe, Dominoes, Big Star, and even Leader Of A New Regime have grown on me exceedingly!!
I never thought they would, they were quite boring at first. But now, this album is SKIPLESS.
Only thing I will say is that listening to Oceanic Feeling is a slight chore bc of its length, it hasn't proven yet that it's worthy of its duration.

Weird. Anyway, Stoned...is now one of my favorite from her. That cute little break in the chorus with just Jack on guitar is such a cute moment. Also, I love Fallen Fruit so much as a vibe overall, but I wish she continued with that Melodrama-like breakdown. I liked where that was going.

I guess the era is over.
Maybe she'll release a darker album and call it Lunar Power. :kii:

I still cannot get myself to listen to this. I've tried, but after a few minutes I'm either bored or get distracted or forget about it and the album goes to the background. Perhaps one day I go out for a walk with headphones so I can for once really focus on this.

She's been killing it with all the covers and performances this era. I hope she keeps dropping more of these.

TE AO MĀRAMA vinyl is available for pre-order on her website. $30 for the vinyl, $4.99 for the digital album.
100% OF ARTIST NET PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED* TO TWO AMAZING NZ-BASED CHARITIES— FOREST AND BIRD AND TE HUA KAWARIKI CHARITABLE TRUST.
I listened to it all the way through, and I really liked how she invited Māori artists to be included in the new versions. (though I wish she gave them credit—their names are not included anywhere on Spotify.) this isn't something I see myself playing on Spotify a lot, since understanding the lyrics is vital to my enjoyment of Lorde's music, but I am intending to pre-order/purchase the vinyl closer to or after the shipping date (Jan 21, 2022). I also feel like this would be a great listen after some 🍃 enters your system and you need something familiar enough to feel comforting, but still somewhat fresh each time you listen.

Sometimes when you listen to a whole album it can sound samey, I prefer to listen to 3-4 tracks at a time and then move on to someone else. "Mood Ring" amd "Secrets..." are probably my faves from this.

I love Lorde, and I like this album. She made a good album with some really nice songs. But it's just not the type of music that I want from her. My faves are "The Path," "SP," "Fallen Fruit," "Secrets," "MR," "Oceanic Feeling," and the infectious "Dominoes." If the other half of the album were at the level of these songs, it would have been better received, regardless of the change in sound.
My favourite moment on the entire album is in "Fallen Fruit," when she goes into the Melodrama sound for a moment.
Ugh, Melodrama was impossible to follow. How she totally created a masterpiece with that one. I look forward to seeing her a couple of times on this tour and I hope she has a nice balanced setlist between her three albums (but lean into Melodrama please).

Tbh I feel like her performance at the VMA would feel totally out of place, given how the show leans towards "big" performances. So I'm not too bothered by her withdrawal. She's clearly past her pop superstar phase. I have no problem just paying to catch her on tours.

Yeah I still remember digging my feet in the ocean, hands in the sand, evening sun beating down on me as the sky looks like a watercolor palette over the crystal blue water - while listening to this album. It's magical & a summer staple of mine forever now.

Lana being her extra self...I feel like Lorde was only being nice for saying she inspired her. (And of course, they share the same producer Jack Antonoff)

"The Sun reported" and "An insider claims" are two reasons to not believe a word that article says. Hardly the first time they've had a slight overlap in sound/themes.
