It peaked at #6 on Billboard in February of 2010. The song was written entirely by Toby Keith.
"Cryin' for Me" was written for jazz musician and former NBA player, Wayman Tisdale. Tisdale was drafted second-overall in the 1985 NBA draft and played until 1997. He is from Toby's home state of Oklahoma and the two were good friends. Toby said he wanted to write a tribute to him soon after learning of his passing, which came as a shock since he left voicemails to Tisdale for two days before getting the news.
This is a great tribute song and it was a heartwarming move by Toby releasing it as the second single off the album.

#63. Stealing Angels - "He Better Be Dead"

The song peaked at #45 on Mediabase in September. Stealing Angels was comprised of Caroline Cutbirth, Tayla Lynn, and Jennifer Wayne. All three of them are descendants of famous people. Cutbirth is a descendant of Daniel Boone, while Lynn is Loretta Lynn's granddaughter and Wayne is the granddaughter of John Wayne. Jennifer of course, went on to be in Runaway June.
The trio signed to Skyville Records, which was founded by producers Paul Worley and Wally Wilson. Nine North was also a label for Stealing Angels. A second single, "Paper Heart" charted in 2011. They disbanded in 2012.
I like "He Better Be Dead" but I'm, not crazy about it. The song is definitely a throwback style, which I appreciate.

*sigh* This deserved way better than this. OTOH, it flopped so I guess landing right in the middle of the rankdown isn't too bad considering the low familiarity. It's an incredibly good song though.

Stealing Angels, the girl group who had two of the girls run The Amazing Race twice (they were actually really good at the Race, but the first time they were boring, and the second time they were not likable or they remained boring, but then again that season of The Amazing Race was such a mess, both route wise and team wise).
No reveals are shocking yet, very fun to follow might I say

Ugh no! Both "Cryin' For Me" and "He Better Be Dead" deserved so much better.
CFM is such a touching tribute, one of Toby's best moments imo.
And HBBD is so catchy and I loved the throw back vibe it had.

Well, I actually thought "He Better Be Dead" was gonna be my first top 10 loss but it wasn't. I also expected it out way sooner, but it actually deserved WAY better than this. But it's unknown and I could see where people might find the vocals and style grating.
It is AMAZING though. The instrumentation and melody are out of this world good, and the lyrics are fantastic as well. I adored this back when it was current and I adore it now, it's one I've always listened to throughout the years.

I always wanted to like "He Better Be Dead" because of the throwback style, but I just never could get into it. The vocal arrangement just doesn't work for me. "Paper Heart" was fantastic though.

Good song and the Randy Rogers Band usually delivers quality material. UMG never really went all out trying to promote their singles. They usually made the top 50 with Texas airplay significantly helping but this one was added to nearly 50 stations.

62 (63). Well I couldn't be happier that this went out here since it's only one off from my ranking lol. Darius' first country album delivered some solid singles, this may have been the most forgettable but it was still a good song.
61 (44). "Too Late For Goodbye" may not be my favorite from Randy Rogers Band, but they've always delivered some really great singles, they've never seemed to garner all that much support on Pulse but I'm a big fan.

This is among my least favorite songs from Dierks (along with "Sideways" and "Different for Girls"). The Feel that Fire singles were easily my least favorite of his albums in his career. It's just so damn boring. I also don't care for Dierks' vocal performance. The whole song is one big lullaby.

The song was originally off his debut, eight song album from 2011 (Frankie Ballard) but Frankie and Warner Music Nashville decided to also include it on Frankie's breakthrough Sunshine & Whiskey album in 2014.
This is without a doubt, Frankie Ballard's best single. The lyrics, melody, music and his raspy vocals all work so well together. I was shocked it couldn't even reach the top 30. I'm glad they put it on two albums. This didn't deserve +100 rankings.

60 (107). "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes" may be the most appropriately named song in the history of music, it's so boring I do want to close my eyes. I like to pretend the Feel That Fire era didn't happen for Dierks tbh.
59 (92). I don't hate "Come Back Song" so much as I found it was a let down after his debut showed promise.
58 (42). I absolutely love how Frankie sounds on "Tell Me You Get Lonely". His vocal, the melody and the production are so good. Lyrically it needed a little extra oomph to make it higher for me but this is still a song I love listening to.

It started off slow but after the new year, it caught on and eventually made it to #3 by September of 2010. The song charted for 56 weeks on Billboard Hot Country Songs (now Country Airplay). It broke the previous record by Eddy Arnold, "Bouquet of Roses." The record has since been tied by Dylan Scot ("Hooked") and broken by Rodney Atkins ("Caught Up In The Country"). At the time however, a 56-week chart run was unheard of.
The song was written by Tim James and Doug Johnson. It was off Lee's album of the same name and the song was his first-career top 10 hit.
This song is definitely overplayed but I think it's great. I knew it get tanked by a couple people since Lee isn't a popular name here but I think he sang the heck out of the track and the song's very well-written.

Lee Brice has a pretty mediocre voice, and it's especially intolerable on that song. One of his worst. Awful.
Darius Rucker has some great songs in his catalog, but "Come Back Song" has always been rather obnoxious to me. The overplay it has received has definitely made it worse, too.

The song was Jerrod's third-career single, the first two at Category 5 Records in 2007. The song was a country cover of a soul song by Sonia Dada, called "You Don't Treat Me No Good." The song was first released in 1992. It was the lead off Jerrod's Judge Jerrod & the Hung Jury album.
This one grew on me more with every listen when it first came out. It's just so fun and catchy. The arrangement was so unique. Jerrod recorded all the vocal layers himself, separately. The bass was the last one he recorded, aided by whiskey to help his tired and hoarse voice.

The re-recording was included on Loretta's tribute album.
I like the song and it was hard trying to find where to rank a re-recording version with Miranda and Sheryl. It's in the 80's but I enjoy it. The original is still the best but I think it's cool that it was able to chart in 2010.

Once upon a time I enjoyed this one but it's so blah lyrically and in its production. Joe's vocals are great but the song is lacking so much. I also still hear this one all the time and it makes me sad, that THIS of all songs is the one Joe Nichols song that's played the most...a lot of people love it, so I guess it makes sense but Joe's had so many better singles.

There are exactly 0 things I like about "Lover, Lover." Awful song. Jerrod is among my least favorite artists to grace the country genre. His voice sucks and I find his music pretty unlistenable at least 90% of the time.

"Cryin' For Me" is a very good song! It doesn't have the personality to make it as repeatably listenable as Toby's other hits though, so I am okay seeing it leave here. I am a bit surprised it was a single.
"History In The Making" is just plain boring. It's one of Darius' very few hits that haven't been overplayed past the point of listenability, but for that I am VERY thankful...
I really like "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes"! I can see why lots of people find it to be boring, but I can also see and appreciate what Dierks was going for. It would have been a boring song by a lot of vocalists, but I think Dierks is actually the right vocalist to make this song interesting.
"Come Back Song" – See earlier comment about how all of Darius' big hits have been overplayed past the point of listenability... That being said, I feel like this one is gone too soon! I actually still enjoy this one every now and then. Apparently I was feeling it when I made my list!
"Tell Me You Get Lonely" was pretty good. I'm still not one bit saddened to see Frankie Ballard fail to stick in the long-term, but he did a good job with this one.
"Love Like Crazy" is gone WAAAAAAY too soon! One of my favorite Lee Brice songs. He is definitely not my favorite artist, but I think his rough voice complements this song nicely. A smoother vocalist like Tim McGraw wouldn't have been able to make this song quite as interesting for me. I am shocked how high I ranked this though... Definitely didn't anticipate that happening when I started making my list!
"Lover, Lover" is a CATCHY JAM!!!!! Literally one of the only shining moments Jerrod Niemann ever had.
I am surprised that "Coal Miner's Daughter" peaked high enough to be included in this rankdown but "Not Ready To Make Nice" didn't peak high enough to be included in the 2006 rankdown... "Coal Miner's Daughter" is a good enough song for what it is, but it does not belong in this era. I am surprised it lasted this long, tbh! It was really hard to rank!
"Gimmie That Girl" is purely radio fodder, but it is an enjoyable listen. Joe Nichols has a way of making most things listenable.
"Anything Like Me" is one of my least-favorite Brad Paisley singles. His songs have always been known for clever lyrics, yes, but usually he has extremely creative instrumental arrangements and catchy melodies to back it up. This song has clever lyrics, but the song otherwise has no listenability. The arrangement and melody all fail to do anything noteworthy.

"Lover, Lover" was a nice breath of fresh air when it came out, and I loved the follow up single, he kinda lost me after that. "Coal Miner's Daughter" is an all time classic and I loved hearing Miranda and Sheryl take some of the song for themselves while still keeping Loretta the main focus, honestly would've loved to see this be an actual hit! (P.s. bboat11 "Good enough for what it is"?!?!?! Blasphemy) "Gimmie That Girl" Joe's weakest single still made my top 70 he's just that good. "Anything Like Me" I loved the idea of the song, but it doesn't stand up compared to Brad's best. Far from his worst though.
