I’ve loved Break Down Here every since the first time I heard it but it’s always been a polarizing tune to me so I’m surprised it got this far. Pleasantly surprised though. Julie’s career deserved better! I'm just as surprised to see those such as yourself and LBTrocks that had this ranked higher on their list as I was with those that didn't (especially .indulgecountry and bboat11 !). I can't quite remember where or when I first heard this song but all I know is that I loved it from the first time I did.

One thing that kept bringing it down for me was that it was out when I was really getting into CMT music videos, and the video was quite overplayed on there... It put this song in the same category as a lot of the huge hits from this time period for me, in that I still like it, but can't listen to it as much as some songs that were not as overplayed.

I love 95% of this list, so competition made some stuff fall low naturally. It wasn't a rankdown where I could have a buffer to rank actual bad songs lower, because almost everything was high quality! Really the only songs I had issues with were my like bottom 5 or so being more 'listenable but not great.'

Let's get to the top 20 shall we! Up next is the 9th most polarizing song which finds two participants saying goodbye to their top-ranked song while someone finds themselves alone down in the bottom 5...

“Red High Heels” was released as the lead single to Kellie Pickler’s debut album Small Town Girl and was a Top 15 hit in 2006. This had a rather yin and yang run early on bouncing around from the lower 40’s all the way up to the top 20 before sliding back again into the lower 30’s when austin came in with a bottom 5 placement. It finally began to level off, however, and remained inside the top 25 thanks to a strong showing of support as the rankdown began to wind down. Both ClevelandRox and .indulgecountry have to say goodbye to their top-ranked song while toomuchboy and SHOOTER lose a top 5. This looked like it might wind up in the top 20 but BackwoodsBarbie ’s bottom 10 placement knocked it out and it just wasn’t able to recover in time to make it back in.

While no one loses their top-ranked song with the next reveal we do find one top 5 exiting along with a trio of top 10's. Two more participants lose a bottom 5 just before we enter into the top 20...

“Johnny & June” was released as Heidi Newfield’s solo debut song and was the lead single to her debut album What Am I Waiting For. The song peaked at #11 in late September 2008. This had a rather rough start where it hovered in the lower 40’s but slowly began it’s run into the top 30 as it continued to gain traction along the way. This song really exceeded my expectations as I wouldn’t have predicted it to be a top 25 contender, but obviously a majority disagree with me as this received a lot of top 30 support as well as two top 15’s and a trio of top 10’s. taylor is terrified departs with a top 5 while at the other end LBTrocks and Darkest Hour lose a bottom 5.

Not too shocked at Heidi's finish, although I would've loved to see it sneak into the Top 20. Speaking of: this is where I'm worried about the seven ( ) Top 10 songs I have left. I'm especially hoping for She Didn't Have Time to make it as far as possible. At least Top 5? Top 10? Top 2?!

I'm sad to see "Johnny & June" and (especially) "Red High Heels" just miss out on the top 20. Kellie Pickler is one of my all-time favorite country singers, right behind Sara Evans and Miranda Lambert, and RHH is my favorite song of her's. It is just such a fun jam and she delivers it with so much personality. It's something of a go-to song for me if I'm wanting something that will put me in a better mood, because it always does.
"I Wonder" is also incredible. The 1-2 punch of RHH followed by that song to start off her career was so strong imo. It's such a heartbreakingly beautiful song, especially knowing that it's a true story for Kellie. I'll never forget seeing her break down by the end of her CMA Awards performance of it in 2007. Still one of the most memorable TV performances I've ever seen and it sticks with me to this day.

Honorable Mentions The following five artists were previously highlighted during the reminders; however, I wanted to come back around and showcase them one more time. I'll highlight another five artists and songs prior to revealing the top 10 as well.
Miley Cyrus "The Climb" There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be a uphill battle Sometimes you gonna have to lose
Mindy McCready "Maybe, Maybe Not" Maybe it's a sign, maybe I should call To see if everything's alright back in Omaha Maybe you were right, maybe I'm to blame Maybe if I try real hard baby I can change
Lorrie Morgan "Us Girls" We got legendary stories, we're anything but boring We've got letdowns and hang-ups, laugh lines and break-ups And all the grace the world will allow, us girls
Amy Dalley "Men Don't Change" You know sex is usually good yeah but it ain't always right Chocolate is a bandaid no matter what they say Shoes don't stretch, and men don't change
Tanya Tucker "A Memory Like I'm Gonna Be" When it all comes back someday, You'll be surprised on some lonely night. When you close your eyes. Just surrender, 'cause you can't get away

I wasn't planning on jumping into the top 20 quite yet, but I have a BIG concert to attend tomorrow night and with Thanksgiving right around the corner I doubt I'll be able to get to anymore reveals until Friday. So without further ado here is the first song to exit the top 20 and with a trio of #1's and two bottom 5's it comes in as the most polarizing song of the rankdown...

“Forgive” was released as the only single and title track from Rebecca Lynn Howard’s second studio album. The song became her only Top 40 country hit and it peaked at #12 in 2002. The song was also nominated for Song of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2003. While this didn’t have a stellar start as yours truly put this in his bottom 5 it quickly rebounded thanks to the first top-ranked placement from castleoblivion26 where it jumped over twenty spots into the top 20. This trend continued as it received plenty of love from everyone and was bolstered again by two more top-rankings from gardyfan and Cody Wants Out... . This briefly flirted with the top 10 but near the end was hit with a top 50 from Troublemaker and a last minute bottom 5 from nickd .

20. "Forgive" ~ Rebecca Lynn Howard Ok but maybe LBTrocks delivered with the good taste? Meanwhile I'm shocked at you other two. I can understand her vocal sounds a bit grating at times but imagine putting this song that low. I kid, no hard feelings! I'm glad (and kinda shocked) this made it as far as it did, and in the Top 20!

Speaking of the next song we have our third and final tie! While I would usually give the song with the most top 5's the edge in this case I gave it to the one that came in as the 8th least polarizing song of the rankdown. Someone that just lost their top-ranked song gets some revenge this time around as they lose a bottom 5 while three others depart with a top 5.

I'm glad (and kinda shocked) this made it as far as it did, and in the Top 20! I've always had very mixed feelings about this song. While I don't dislike it nearly as much as I used to it still feels very much like a love-hate kind of thing. It's just never been one that I've been all that inclined to revisit much and was actually surprised by how well-regarded the song was when it just missed the top 20 in the 2002 YE Rankdown from earlier this year.

“What I Really Meant to Say” was the lead single from Cyndi Thomson’s debut album My World. Released in March 2001, it reached the top of the country charts and also made her the third country artist that year to reach Number One with a debut single (the others being “Austin” by Blake Shelton and “There Is No Arizona” by Jamie O’Neal). This briefly shot up into the top 15 thanks to the early support from myself and Kanenrá:ke but was quickly relegated to the top 40 as it received back-to-back bottom 5’s from bboat11 and castleoblivion26 . And while Darkest Hour put another dent in its run with a third bottom 5 it was able to rebound, however, thanks to multiple top 5’s from shooter , ClevelandRox , and gardyfan as well as a top 10 from d3vin44 .
