I still don't get how that song wasn't massive tbh. It had so much going for it in terms of just being a home run song vocally and lyrically. And I kept your favorite t-shirtYou know, the one I used to hateAin't it funny howIt's the one thing nowI just can't throw awayThis part is soooo amazing, like she nails the emotions and there's so much said in just these simple lyrics, love it! SAME. This part always struck me. That and the bridge where we find out that she has a daughter to help keep his memory alive.

And Terri's "No Fear" from the last group is my favorite! I know I had you in mind when I selected that ... but it has also long been one of my favorites from her!

That's what you get for tanking She Didn't Have Time which deserved the top spot Or at least a Top 5 finish You crushed my hopes and dreams I mean, you also kinda tanked “She Didn’t Have Time”, so you also kinda deserved it 😬

I thought Because Of You would be top 10 because of familiarity and it actually works as a contemporary country song. Cannot believe there are so many bottom ranks...

I thought Because Of You would be top 10 because of familiarity and it actually works as a contemporary country song. Cannot believe there are so many bottom ranks... Love how they sound, but honestly the song doesn't work as a duet for me. I've been hoping for years the original they recorded for the album would leak!

Now that I'm over my food coma from Thanksgiving I'm ready to jump into the Top 10! The first song to leave garnered three top 5's and a trio of top 10's while an all too familiar participant finds themselves down in the bottom 10 and probably wishes they had put this one spot lower considering this is the song that beat out "Don't 'bout a Thing" by one point...

“Mississippi Girl” was released in May 2005 as the lead single to Faith’s sixth studio album Fireflies and was written specifically for her by John Rich and Adam Shoenfeld. The song was a number one single on the country charts which became her first number one hit since 2000. This jumped right into the top 20 early on where it remained for most of its run before finally easing into the top 10. someguy , George Strait Junkie , and Cody Wants Out... all lose a top 5 while three more depart with a top 10. This had widespread support across the board as it also garnered two top 15’s and a handful of top 20’s. Everyone but LBTrocks put this in their top 40 as he is the lone participant to place this in his bottom 10.

Our next song sees our first #1 loss of the top 10 which also comes in as the fifth most polarizing song of the rankdown if only because everyone placed this in their top 30...everyone that is except three participants who put this way down in their bottom 5!

“Forever and for Always” was released as the third single to Shania’s fourth studio album Up!. The song was a Top 5 hit in 2003 and was also nominated for two Grammy Awards including Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Troublemaker is our first participant to lose their top-ranking song just as we jump into the top 10. Never falling outside of the top 20, this also had widespread support across the board as it garnered four additional top 5’s from toomuchboy , BackwoodsBarbie , .indulgecountry , and taylor is terrified while three others placed this in their top 10. While almost everyone put this in their top 30 this ended up coming in as the fifth most polarizing song if only due to the three bottom 5’s it received from castleoblivion26 , Darkest Hour , and George Strait Junkie .

"Mississippi Girl" is one of those songs I always enjoy more whenever I hear it than I remembered. I always think of it as one of her lesser songs, but it is pretty fun to sing along with.

“Baby Girl” was the debut song of the country music group Sugarland feature Jennifer Nettles as the lead vocalist. While it was originally released in 2003, it was re-released in July 2004 as the first single from their album Twice the Speed of Life and peaked at number 2 on the country charts becoming the highest-peaking debut single for a country music group in 14 years. The song spent a total of 46 weeks on the country music charts which at the time set a new record for the longest chart run since the inception of digital chart tabulation in 1990. This was a song many of you had picked as a top 5 if not top 2 contender and while it did spend some time there it ended up getting pushed out as the final lists came in. It reached its peak position of #3 early on thanks to the first top 5 ranking from someguy as well as a top 10 from yours truly. With additional top 5’s from d3vin44 and top 10’s from taylor is terrified and BackwoodsBarbie rolling in this was able to hold off a lone bottom 5 from gardyfan and certainly looked like it might ease into the top 5 but it just wasn’t able to recover in time from two last minute top 40’s from Troublemaker and SHOOTER .

While I enjoyed this well enough back during its release it's one of Faith's songs that not until recently have I started to appreciate more. I actually had another one of her songs picked for this series and only switched it out during my final round of song edits and I'm really glad that I ended up including this.

I know I ranked "Mississippi Girl" pretty low but it's actually a Faith Hill song that I don't mind, I liked it fine back in the day when CMT would play it. Nothing I'd go out of my way to listen to, but it's good. It was destined to be lower for me tho since there were so many songs and artists that I LOVED in this.
"Baby Girl" remains my favorite Sugarland song. It's fantastic.

9. "Forever and for Always" ~ Shania Twain did we hear the same song you three? Right?! Like I literally had to do a double take when I saw those and even went back to triple check them before posting because surely no one in their right mind would put this in their bottom 5... I think I'm going to keep y'all in suspense for a bit longer and wait until tomorrow to reveal the Top 5! I will say one of the two songs leaving beforehand was an early #1 contender and was actually only one of three songs that held onto that position.

I just don't like the flow and theme of Forever and For Always at all. She seems to sing too slowly comparing to the instrumentals.

I have a feeling that the top 10 is going to begin better than it ends. #10, #9 and #8 could have very happily been #3, #2 and #1 for me.

“The Long Way Around” was released as the third single from the Dixie Chicks’ seventh studio album Taking the Long Way. While the song did not chart at country radio it received widespread critical acclaim and was picked by Rolling Stone magazine as the 20th best song of 2006. After initially having “Not Ready to Make Nice” selected I decided that this would be a better option and I’m really glad I made the switch as it really exceeded my expectations and likely many of yours as well. This was an early #1 contender and only one of three songs to hold onto that position as it was boosted by the early support from yours truly who put it as their second highest ranking song along with someguy ’s top-ranking. This slowly began to fall back as it began to rack up some lower-end top 45 rankings from Darkest Hour, George Strait Junkie and LBTrocks along with a top 40 from d3vin44 which put this outside of the top 10 for the first time. As the final lists began to trickle in this was given an extra boost from shooter ’s near top 10 placement as well as a third top 5 from Troublemaker and a final top 10 fro nickd which was enough to pull it up another two spots.

“Who I Am” was released as the first single and title track from Jessica Andrew’s breakthrough second studio album. The song became her only Number One hit on the country charts and was also one of the top 10 most played songs of 2001. This was a song that many of you had predicted was a #1 contender and would likely finish in the top 5 as well. This was, however, one of the few songs to remain a top 10 contender for its entire run as it racked up a whopping seven top 10 placements along with three top 5’s from austin , toomuchboy , and Kanenrá:ke . And despite a near bottom 5 from Darkest Hour and a bottom 10 from Troublemaker this still was on par to finish in the top 5 until the final list came in which put this just outside of that.
