"Maybe, Maybe Not" was released as the second single in 2002 from her self-titled album and ended up being her last top 50 hit at country radio.

Although Tanya Tucker wasn't featured for this series she just released her first studio album in over ten years so I wanted to make sure to highlight a song from her. "A Memory Like I'm Gonna Be" was released in 2002 as the lead single to her album Tanya and peaked at #34 that same year. I wouldn't be surprised to see her featured for the next series though!

Well here is your THREE WEEK REMINDER as the due date is slowly approaching on Tuesday, October 1st! Thanks to ClevelandRox we are now up six participants (including myself of course) and I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to double that!!

Lorrie Morgan is the next artist I wanted to feature as she released a handful of singles during this time including the top 40 Sammy Kershaw duet "He Drinks Tequila" which was the lead single for their I Finally Found Someone studio album. Lorrie's final top 50 hit "Do You Still Want to Buy Me That Drink (Frank)" was released in late 2003 and was the lead single for her ninth studio album Show Me How. Thanks to austin 's submission we are now sitting at 7 lists including myself. While I had the due date set for October 1st (which is only a week and a half away!) I'd really like to double the amount of participants, so since there are currently no rankdowns due for the upcoming month I'd like to give everyone time to complete this and am going to extend the deadline for this to Friday, November 1st!

Amy Dalley is another artist I considered highlighting for this series as she signed to Curb Records in 2003 and released seven singles of which five have entered the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts despite never releasing an album. Her highest-peaking single, "Men Don't Change", reached a peak of No. 23 in 2004. In addition to her own music, Dalley co-wrote Reba McEntire's single "My Sister".

The last time I updated y'all it was to let you know that I had extended this out so now is the time to remind everyone that this is your ONE MONTH REMINDER to complete this as it is due on Friday, November 1st! The next artist I wanted to highlight is Mallary Hope who debuted onto the country music scene in 2009 with her single "Love Lives On" which was released from a digital EP of the same name. It peaked at #42 and while it became her highest charting single she did go on to see success as a songwriter including co-writing Lauren Alaina's "Georgia Peaches". She most recently released her first full-length project, Out of My Hands, which included the single "Me" where it was a top 50 hit on Christian radio.

Since I most recently saw singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters in concert last week I wanted to make sure to feature her here as she was also previously showcased in the 90's Women of Country rankdown for her song "When You Are Old". Gretchen's songwriting credits for the 2000's include such songs as "If Heaven" by Andy Griggs and multiple Bryan Adams hits such as "Inside Out", "This Side of Paradise", "You've Been a Friend to Me", and the Golden Globe nominated "Here I Am" from the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Gretchen also released several albums of her own during this time including a self-titled album in 2001, 2005's Halcyon, and 2007's Burnt Toast & Offerings which includes one of my favorite album tracks "Sunday Morning (Up and Down My Street)". As of the last update I haven't received any new lists so as it stands now we are currently still at 8 participants and while I'm dialing back my expectations for the turnout I still hope we can get close to 15. Showcased next is the Marie Sisters which was a duo composed of sisters Chaz and Kessie Marie. They moved to Nashville in 1997 as songwriters and before long were singing backing vocals for LeAnn Rimes. The duo was signed to Universal/Republic Records and released their self-titled debut album in 2002. "Real Bad Mood" would be their only charting single which was a Top 50 hit and pretty much sums up my current state of mind after a very long week!

The last female artist I wanted to make sure and showcase is the great Emmylou Harris. Although featured in the 80's Women of Country rankdown I believe her to be quite underrated here on Pulse as I consider Emmylou to be one of the truly distinctive and prolific American female singers of the last 50 years. During the 2000's she joined the all-star group of artists in the soundtrack for the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? and released four studio albums including the Mark Knopfler collaborated album All The Roadrunning and Red Dirt Girl which won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 2001. Known for covering other songwriters' work this album was a departure for Emmylou as eleven of the twelve tracks were written or co-written by her including the title track.
