"Goodbyes begins at No. 2 on both Streaming Songs (40.8 million) and Digital Song Sales (41,000)"
Is this typical of a new Post song? Not basing off of how the week went, just my gut feeling, but Streaming seems low and sales seem high. I would have thought Streaming would be around 50 million and sales 25,000.

I expected more streams because it had a video and he promoted the song, but the sales number is ok. Sunflower (November 3, 2018)Sales: 24k Streams: 24.2M Psycho (March 10, 2018)Sales: 80k Streams: 54.9M rockstar (October 7, 2017)Sales: 80k Streams: 44.1M I'm not using Wow because it was released mid-week and during Christmas and Better Now because it was just an album track in its first week.

It was a bad week for sales. Is it an "after Independence Day" effect?

Beyonce's 'Spirit' From 'The Lion King' Debuts at No. 1 on Kid Digital Song Sales Chart
7/15/2019 by Gary Trust
Plus, the all-star "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" bows at No. 5.
Songs from the new version of The Lion King, as well as the film's soundtrack, come roaring in on Billboard's charts.
Beyoncé's original song "Spirit," released July 10, launches at No. 1 on the Kid Digital Song Sales tally (dated July 20), with 7,000 downloads sold in the week ending July 11, according to Nielsen Music. The ballad marks the superstar's first entry on the survey, which ranks the most downloaded kid-centric songs and/or those from movies and TV shows geared toward children.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen's cover of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" starts at No. 5 on the chart with 1,000 sold. Elton John's original version hit No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994.
Beyoncé, Glover, Eichner and Rogen are among the voices in Disney's computer-animated The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau and due in theaters Friday (July 19). The film remakes the traditionally-animated 1994 original, which has grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide.
Concurrently, the new movie's soundtrack, which includes "Spirit" and the new version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," debuts at No. 2 on Kid Albums with 2,000 sold after its first day of release (July 11). The 19-song set, featuring nine score pieces by composer Hans Zimmer, also enters the Soundtracks chart at No. 16, with 4,000 equivalent album units earned.
"Spirit" will additionally appear on the Beyoncé-curated collection The Lion King: The Gift. Due Friday (July 19), the set features songs by global artists "steeped in the sounds of Africa," according to the official Instagram announcement.
All charts will update tomorrow (July 16) on Billboard.com and Billboard.com/biz.

At the time, "OSD" was the latest of only 3 songs to spend that many weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. I'm not sure what the other two are, tho. Boyz II Men - End Of The Road (Aug. 22, 1992-Nov. 11, 1992) Ace Of Base - The Sign (Feb. 26, 1994-May 21, 1994) Thanks to ry4n

Goodbyes is a first flop/misfire for Post Godlone since forever. Unless he wants to kill all the hype for the new album, it's probably time to quit Top 40 pop singer shit and make more Wows.

If it didn't debut at #1 then it is a "flop" , during the last few monhs, lots of songs can lay claim to that

When Sunflower barely debuted in the Top 10 and fell to 17 the week after everyone thought it would be Post's first "flop". Turns out it might be his best performing single chart-wise. Post singles take time to grow, the only exception is maybe Rockstar

No - just not a widely covered one Last time they wrote about it was earlier this year during the Baby Shark craze I wonder how many copies it takes to reach that chart... With the boom of Kids' YouTube, I imagine Kids Songs digital sales are taking the same beating as any other genre; I think it was a slower decline at first.

By flop/misfire, do you mean to imply that you think this song is going to plummet off the chart in a few weeks, or just that it didn't debut at #1 or #2? I was mainly thinking about how it is received among the fanbase and in some hip hop circles (where some people who root for Post like Akademiks called it almost Maroon 5 sounding). I guess you can include the charts too. A failure all around.

It doesn't belong on a new Post album, it screams old Post.
You can't expect to get hit after hit after hit with the same style of song and milk that forever and ever. We've seen this with many artists navigating the industry.
Overall this reminds me of Ariana Grande's "Focus" -- I hope this also ends up a standalone single, though its descent will likely be less steep considering how "Sunflower" and "Wow" are proving Posty as a longevity king.

Opinions of the song itself aside, if you had to put all your money on it as a chart watcher, how do you think it'll perform on the Hot 100? How many weeks in the top 10? Top 20? Top 50? It's hard to predict weeks, but it won't be nowhere near as successful as his 2017-19 singles. That much I can predict based on early fan feedback.

Written by Lennon and McCartney and originally recorded for the Beatles' "Rubber Soul" album in 1965.

Regarding Post Malone, I don't think he has a lots of credibility as a rap artist? Some of music critics I know consider him more like what Kid Rock was to rock in the late 90s: cartoonish character who uses the cliches in his advantage and becomes super popular for several years.

"Ocean Eyes" survives for a 20 week, and will go to recurrency next week. Very impressive for a song so old. "Talk You Out of It" spends a 21st week on the Hot 100, avoiding recurrency.

12th week on the chart. A new low for Taylor after "LWYMMD" fell below top 50 in its 15th week.
In comparison, "Shake It Off" took 50 weeks inside the upper half of the chart before going recurrent, and "WANEGBT" spent 24 weeks there.
"Mine" took a 50-52 fall in its 20th week, "Love Story" spent 49 weeks in the region.
So longevity wise, "Shake" > "Love Story" > "WANEGBT" > "Mine" > "LWYMMD" > "ME!"
(I am in no way suggesting her career is over because it is not. Just an observation.)
