Continuing from my post above, I really hope this doesn't end up being this year's "Lights". Although I do see Dua Lipa continuing to do well in the States, I can see her career trajectory here being similar to that of Ellie Goulding's in the US during the first half of the 2010s. With her being a powerful force on radio and getting another top three hit, but never a number one hit (or album, if 'Future Nostalgia' gets blocked by 'After Hours'' second week). Really hope she can somehow get that number one and be the first UK female artist in a while, to have a slow rising and organic number one hit!

Amazing to see this at #2 this week!! I wasn’t sure she was ever gonna make it. And of course also great to see her finally take over Post in the Radio chart. I’m wondering if the current coronavirus situation may lead stations to play more joyful songs like this...

I hope they're gonna try and keep this at pop #1 until the album drops (8 weeks at #1) so they can try to make a full push for Hot 100 #1 then

Not gonna happen. Her competition is too close and Harry is about to add to it in a couple weeks.

Too bad the #1 is still a bit strong, but this already outperformed so much. Happy for her.
I also wonder which one will be a bigger hit: this or NR. I’m thinking the latter now but if someone got stats to compare them that would good.

It would be After Hours' third week she'd be battling with, not the second. Oh okay, then she has a good chance then. Maybe, but she's also battling with a country album who debuted with like 180k with his last album. I don't know if Dua has that much power in the US yet.

Are you talking about Sam Hunt? Cause he did 70k with his previous album, Montevallo, in a different sales climate and with a hit song on the radio. "Don't Start Now" has pretty much outperformed everything he's put out. The Weeknd releasing two weeks earlier shouldn't be a threat. The same goes for 5 Seconds of Summer releasing the week before.

POP:1 1 DUA LIPA Don't Start Now 19088 19050 38 93.218 +14 Spins looks like Dua's holding on to this #1 for a lil bit longer as 'Hot Girl Bummer' replaces 'ROXANNE' at #2 today. hopefully she can go past this Sunday and into her album release week at the top of the all-genre radio charts. there, the rest of the top 5 is losing audience -- dua is #1 with 135.19M and gaining. #6 is 'Adore You' with 97.84M and is gaining twice as fast as 'Don't Start Now'.

That album has sold over 1.2 million copies since it was released, and he’s gained seven #1 country singles. It’s also not really fair to compare a pop #1 to a country #1, but he’s still held his own, and I’d argue Body like a Back Road may still be bigger overall than what “Don’t Start Now” has done. I’m not saying 180k is guaranteed, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

^ Sam Hunt has seen great success but none of that came after 2018. That’s why I think he’s not a big threat. He’s a country artist and he could get good pure sales. I just think that Dua will do better on streaming.
Edit: Just saw “Kinfolks” was #1 on Country radio. Oop

Body Like a Back Road was the biggest country hit since Cruise and probably about on par with Don't Stop Now in terms of the size of hit, but that long break really killed his momentum and i'm honestly surprised Kinfolks has done as well as it has after Downtown's Dead bombed. will she go #1? dunno, too early to tell, but if she misses it won't be because of Sam Hunt.

#1 on Today's Top Hits. Her team is still pushing this on streaming platforms.

I mean her first album never even made it to the top 20 of the BB200. Anything inside top 10 is a win, but obviously I hope it's a top three result at least.

#1 on Today's Top Hits. Her team is still pushing this on streaming platforms. It's her best shot, I doubt Physical is gonna do much in the US. But then again, I also had my doubts about this one. "Break My Heart" release on album release day would be a cute boost to this that could eventually make it go #1 if "Blinding Lights" isn't a monster by then.

If she wants to debut #1 with the album, just bundle it with "Future Nostalgia toilet paper" and "Future Nostalgia hand sanitizer"

I think around 100K for her first week would be a huge win, I hope she can reach that.
This is still smashing, predicted to hold at #2 on the Hot 100 this week.

Honestly I thought this would’ve been decreasing spins in pop at this time. But great to see it increasing! This is the type of upbeat music I’ll be playing more in lockout
