The fact that "Heartless" started picking back up on pop after slowing down a bit right outside the top 10 isn't helping either - both are rising at a pretty good pace (not the fastest, but still healthy spin gains). On rhythmic, the rhythmic-friendlier "Heartless" is currently #1 so that plus "Blinding Lights" sounding less rhythmic-friendly is putting a damper on things currently. HAC isn't really his core format so the slower spin gain makes sense.

Rhythmic has played way more pop-oriented tracks than this. I am a little shocked it's moving so slow there. Maybe the add date will help. We also have to remember The Weeknd had an inconsistent couple of years after his "Starboy" album, with everything after "I Feel It Coming" never meeting the heights of his hey-day in 2015-2017. We shouldn't expect radio to give him Drake or Bruno Mars treatment, who at this point are bulletproof, whereas he has a little bit more to prove.

A very bizarre and random comparison. Surely you didn't need to go all the way back to the 2000s to reference a Dance song that was a #1 hit all over Europe, yet only went top 10 in the U.S. You could've said Dua Lipa's "New Rules" for example. Or, heck even as recent as "Dance Monkey." Or many other Dance hits in the 2000s and 2010s. Dance music historically has always done better in Europe than in the U.S. Sounds like you just wanted to name drop Madonna for some reason.

I guess so, can you further explain. The Weeknd and Madonna could not have any more different chart histories. Madonna already had like what, 10 or 12 #1s in Europe before “Hung Up.” And this is The Weeknd’s first #1 there. I was lost by this comparison. It came off as you being bitter at American’s for not making Madonna’s music more popular in the 2000s, but maybe I’m wrong.

I literally bullet pointed all the similarities between them. I can't see any other songs comparing with what I said. Both songs you enumerated (New Rules and Dance Monkey) are not disco, one is tropical pop and I don't know what the hell the second is. But the artists aren't even American and aren't as huge as Madonna and Weeknd in the US. The monkey girl is literally unknown.


I'm not being bitter against anything, I was 7 when "Hung Up" was released lol
I'm not an old hag bummed about Madonna's career, but if I was it would be justified because Americans payed dust to one of the greatest pop eras of all time.
