This song is one of my favourites on "Lover" but unless there is a remix, this isn't going to do much at all. The Album is almost one year old at this point and this is a long shot to be a hit at the moment.

Is it though? New Romantics was pushed like 2 months after Out Of The Woods flopped New Romantics was pushed right after Out of the Woods peaked. I think there was only about 2 months between their adds dates. "Out Of The Woods" peaked on 2/14/16 and "New Romantics" was at #29 on 2/28/16 so sounds about right |

Cruel Summer is not being released as a single according to my sources. Wish I was allowed to say more. Not sure what's actually going on with this, but I'm inclined to believe this (^^) until there's an adds date tbh. Someone else pointed out that "I Did Something Bad" was serviced to pop similarly and that never really went anywhere. |

I stand by my original statement and trust the information I was given. If it turns out to be wrong and Cruel Summer has been officially sent to radio as a single then obviously the original plans changed.

I stand by my original statement and trust the information I was given. If it turns out to be wrong and Cruel Summer has been officially sent to radio as a single then obviously the original plans changed. So that means that the big news was a new song released as a single?  Here for Cruel Summer not being a single. |

Maybe it was added there by someone not affiliated with the label? There's not a lot of actual Cool New Music around this summer so maybe they just went for it with this song.

Would not surprise me if the label quietly sent this out as a "for your consideration" type deal since it was picking up on its own anyway, but they don't have any actual plans to push it past that.

I feel like sites like that don't always source their content directly from labels; the preview of the acappella for example is a PhonicMind filter and not the actual studio acappella, so those radio edits could just as easily be third party creations and not actually label-sanctioned.
TL;DR this means nothing.
EDIT: Also that site doesn't bill itself as a radio service so that Twitter account has misunderstood/misrepresented what it is.

They did their own edit for The Man and it was a travesty ("If I was out flashin' my dollars, I'd be a flashin' my dollars"), so maybe they pre-edited the 'drunk' line for them to avoid something as bad as that. |
