gurl we already had this discussion so I'm not going to do this again. their totals are very similar despite "ME" peaking at #6, "YNTCD" at #9 (for 6 weeks!) and "Lover" stalling at #14. Which means "Lover" had more longevity. 

either way, the Taylor Swift single my friends and I put on our hangout playlist was "Lover." not the remix. the solo one. it's one of the best examples of Taylor's legendary songwriting on the album.

Yeah to me Lover felt bigger then both its predecessors despite the peak. The other two felt bigger out of the gate of course but Lover just like refused to die and then the remix came out. It may be because the other two songs are awful and Lover is fantastic though.

From my POV, YNTCD is the biggest hit on Lover. I heard it the most by far.

Yeah YNTCD was by far the biggest hit if we are going by personal anecdotes. No one even knows Lover around me unless they are a huge Shawn Mendez fan and then they think it was just a one off Shawn Mendez song and not a Taylor Swift single lol.

I guess it depends on your circle though.

It’s criminal that YNTCD didn’t hit harder. Should haven been song of the summer, multiple weeks at #1, and been her Shake It Off moment. It performed like a non-event and I think it was a victim of the tragedy that was Me!

That song belonged on a Trolls soundtrack and poorly rolled out the project. I don’t hate it, but it’s not a song I need to ever hear again. M

...will you though? "Lover" is beautifully written, but I think you're overestimating how much impact the song actually had. I heard it on the radio a grand total of one time, the only friend I have that knows it is a hardcore Swiftie. Lover's first two singles had way more cultural impact.

This might be my favorite Taylor song ever. Still loving it a year later, and with a solid video I could see this being THE song of the summer.

I am a little confused about why they have waited so long on this one. Wouldn't it have made more since to release it a month ago? Being a 5th single from an album that's been out almost a year, I can't see it taking off quickly unless she has a high-profile remix very soon. It seems like summer will be nearly over by the time this takes off (if it takes off).

They might've thought releasing a song called Cruel Summer during a worldwide pandemic where the summer will actually be cruel to a lot of people would be in poor taste, also the line "fever dream high in the quiet of the night, you know that I caught it" is also a little too on the nose.

However it seems radio was spinning the track anyways and nobody really seems to care about the virus anyways in the US currently, so why not send it? Lol.

Great video, remix with a hot artist and a tik tok trend could make this a hit. I really hope this can do well against the odds.

I don't understand the adoration for Lover - to me, it is one of the worst songs of the last 5 years, along with Me!
YNTCD is not good but it's better, and so is this, by far.

Yup, it's under Cool New Music on AllAccess. It hasn't received an adds date, though. The rollout for this is bizarre.

If a remix is actually coming I could see them waiting to push it until that drops, but made the original available in the meantime.

New Romantics was pushed right after Out of the Woods peaked. I think there was only about 2 months between their adds dates.
