Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel that the hype for the forthcoming Adele album will be enough to pull those sort of numbers.

25 was following the release of 21, her best, most well-received and best-performing album. The anticipation was unrealistic for 25. I don't feel like people are that hype for a new album. They want one, but I'm not seeing anyone yearning for new Adele music or a new Adele album.

With that being said, I have no doubt that her fans will show up and they'll show out and she'll put up massive first week figures. I just don't think it'll be that high. I'll leave my projections at 1.2-1.6 million units first week. iTunes will be dead whenever she drops and that'll cut deep into her digital sales figures which made up a bulk of her first week sales back in 2015. Physical sales are also down. There aren't enough stores that still sell CDs in the US for her to move enough units to amount to anywhere near 2 million and I doubt she'll be down with doing as many bundles as Taylor Swift had to do to get her first week pure sale figures that high. There's also the talk of just how well she'll do on the streaming end of things in that first week.

I hope she announces a stadium tour, though. That will sell like crazy. I've never seen her on tour and I can't wait to experience those vocals live and direct.

So I'm sure people who LOVE Adele will have access to a physical album when it comes out. iTunes will be dead by the time she drops her album and her digital sales the next time around would be far less than what she put up with 25. Digital sales also made up over 1 million units of the 3 million + units she ended up moving in the US in 25's debut week.

Vinyl sales are still steady, but do you really see Adele moving that many units in vinyls? And that depends on if she even makes vinyls available for purchase in the first week.

I also don't see her going all out with numerous bundles like Taylor Swift did. Adele doesn't strike me as someone who cares as much about first week numbers. Her label, however, is another thing. I don't believe they'll hold back millions of dollars in promoting the album any way they can.

Midland Scores First Top Country Albums No. 1, Tanya Tucker and Vince Gill Return to Top 10

Tucker tallies her first top 10 since 1992.
Midland earns its first No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, as the trio's sophomore LP, Let It Roll, launches atop the Sept. 7-dated list with 22,000 equivalent album units (16,000 in album sales), according to Nielsen Music.

The act, which consists of Mark Wystrach, Jess Carson and Cameron Duddy, follows first album On the Rocks, which entered at its No. 2 peak in October 2017. The set followed Midland's self-titled EP (No. 38, June 2017).


Tanya Tucker's While I'm Livin' arrives at No. 9 on Top Country Albums (10,000 units; almost all in album sales), marking her 10th top 10, and first top 10 start. Produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings, the set is Tucker's first top 10 since What Do I Do With Me, which reached No. 6 in 1992. The new album is Tucker's first of all-new material since Tanya, which peaked at No. 39 in 2002.

Plus, Vince Gill notches his 16th Top Country Albums top 10, as Okie bows at No. 10 (10,000 units; 9,000 sold). The LP is the first from Gill, originally from Norman, Okla., since Down to My Last Bad Habit, which debuted at its No. 4 peak in March 2016.

It is either 2 or 3 as the highest position to fall off.

The record was a Spotify playlist (can't remember what it was called at the moment) that was at I think #3 the week before Billboard changed the rules to disallow playlists from charting unless they were formally released

It seems to me that chartdata's numbers for Young Thug's and Brockhampton's new albums are close. It remains to be seen if they will even refresh the Billboard 200 chart tomorrow. Otherwise, we might have another fiasco ...
