Harry Styles’ latest North American arena tour is blowing up. This album has made me a STAN. I don't care about what came before it or after it, her personal life, creaky vocals, none of it matters. She and her producers really delivered with this album. I hope she is proud of it, no matter the outcome. As for her My Oh My performance...definitely her worst of the era, but it was still a solid B.

I thought her performance was dope. She showed such genuine personality. Her chemistry with DaBaby is fire, the kisses she blows during his verse were super cute. The performance was serving some Thriller vibes. I thought it was more her than anything else.

If I recall correctly it was added last minute as digital and streaming bonus track. The standard physical versions of the album were already completed by the time this decision was made and could only go on the alternate CDs that were put out later in the week.

That twitter thread is fascinating. I had no idea about all that mess with her manager, that Amber girl, and Halsey. And I’ve seen some Ariana stans attacking her because of some interview about her describing how God Is A Woman was originally hers. Pair that with backlash from the Shawn showmance and this is a disaster for a new female popstar.

Her music career is already secondary to being Shawn’s girlfriend at this point, his name is linked immediately when you say hers and the same isn’t necessarily true for him.

The difference between them as a couple and Britney/Justin, Selena/Justin is that both parties had successful careers and identities outside of their relationship. Camilla was not even established as a reliable female popstar during her debut era because the momentum after “Havana/NBTS” died really quickly. So now the relationship has engulfed her entire being ala Jessica Simpson. 2 hits is not safe territory to be publicly latching onto relationships, esp for the long run.

People even accuse Selena of using Justin a lot post-breakup but she has been faring a lot better because she’s been around for awhile, and selling a breakup is different than showmancing.

I don't get the logic of blaming her team for every misstep. From the start of her solo career, she has been doing dual releases. The "I Have Questions" intro in "Crying in the Club" video, then "OMG"/"Havana". Clearly, it's a strategy that worked perfectly fine for launching her. With this era, they were essentially implementing the same strategy. The only difference was that this time, she was an established artist, so they had more resources to maneuver -- in the past, they would simply release two songs at the same time; now, they could land those two songs at SNL. You could talk about how they should've done things differently, but that was the clear agenda and you wouldn't know it doesn't work anymore until it doesn't.

Her team mishandled everything. When something does not work as planned, you readjust or make changes as needed. What you don’t do is keep going even if it’s wrong. It’s ridiculous.
