I've only liked "My Favorite Things" in The Sound of Music. Even Martina couldn't make me like the song. Glad it is finally out.

"My Night to Howl" was robbed! War Paint is so good. I still can't @ it being her random flop album during her prime. I hope the other 3 songs from it make it much further.
OTOH, wow @ how much "I Can Count on You" overstayed. That song was awful, lol.
Lorrie's rendition of "My Favorite Things" is great and I'm glad it didn't get tanked super early, but it also got about as far in this as it needed to.

I remember always seeing the "My Favorite Things" video and it seemed like a big hit because of that. Felt like a flashier version of Something in Red when I was little and for how much nostalgia it brings, I actually probably underranked it a bit.

I was hoping "My Favorite Things" would just sneak into the top 30. Still, it made it about as far as the best Christmas songs do.
For some reason, "I Can Count on You" reminds me of Sheena Easton's "Almost Over You."

“He Talks to Me” was released as the fifth and final single from Lorrie’s debut album Leave the Light On. Written by Mike Reid and Rory Bourke, the song reached #4 on the country charts in August 1990. This becomes the second song to leave from Lorrie’s debut record and along with it taylor is terrified become’s our second participant to depart with their top ranking song. With most of the rankings coming somewhere within the top 40 this ended up settling just inside top 30 thanks to the additional support it received from RobbyFlorida ’s top 10 and @xfer top 15.

We're really going to start chipping away going forward as the next song to leave takes a pair of top 10's with it along with a top 15 and two top 20's...and a lone bottom 5!

“Do You Still Wanna Buy Me That Drink (Frank)" was released as the lead single to Lorrie’s ninth studio album Show Me How. This clocks in as the 12th most polarizing song as it takes two top 10’s from someguy and George Strait Junkie along with @xfer ’s top 15. This bounced around quite a bit during its run and even briefly managed to sneak inside the top 15, but it began its downward trend once castleoblivion26 delivered the lone bottom 5 which it was never quite able to recover from.

“War Paint” is the title track to Lorrie’s fourth studio album that was released in 1994. This somehow comes in as the second most polarizing song as we see a wide swath of rankings from toomuchboy ’s near last place all the way up to the top with .indulgecountry who becomes our third participant to depart with their #1 song. Two others say goodbye to a top 15 while three more including myself lose a top 20. I had personally selected this to include in the rankdown as it has long been a favorite of mine so I was hoping it would do a bit better than just barely making it into the top 30. This era was a bit of a disappointment overall and I again trace that back to “My Night to Howl” being selected as its lead single. Nonetheless, I'm glad that there seemed to be quite a few of you that enjoyed this one as much as myself!

“Slow” is an album track from 2016’s Letting Go…Slow[ which was Lorrie’s first solo album in five years. This more or less jumped up and down just inside the top 30 for most of its run as it garnered quite a bit of support including a top 10 from @xfer , two top 15’s from ClevelandRox and Kanenrá:ke , and a top 20 placement from taylor is terrified . Quite a handful of the the rankings fell just within the top 30 and not a single participant put this in their bottom 5.

Ugh, I knew "War Paint" would get unfairly shafted. It's just sooooo good. There was no competition for my #1 as "War Paint" is my favorite thing she's done period. That epic & eerie instrumental woodwind intro (and outro) with the gradual progression as the drums and strings come in is just masterful. I also love her vocal performance here so much. She absolutely killed it on the seductiveness of the verses and also the climactic way she launches into that anthemic chorus that is so melodically pleasing. Perfect song.

“I Just Might Be” was released as the third and final single from Lorrie’s fifth studio album Greater Need and is the first song to exit from it. Missing the top 25 by a mere two points, this seemed to be a well-liked song overall as everyone put this inside their top 40 including a handful of top 30 placements. After just departing with his #1 our dearest Kanenrá:ke now loses his second top ranking song. Both toomuchboy and bboat11 lose a top 20 while someguy see’s a top 15 loss.

My mom had gotten this album back in the day and I remember listening to it quite a bit...this song was always a standout from it and one that I still wish had been released as a single. I was thrilled to see this get the #1 treatment and you kept this one alive for a top 30 showing!

Catching up! I WANT to like "The Color Of Roses", because it is a very pretty song for the most part. However, wtf is wrong with this studio recording??!?!! That series of skips at the start of the song are absolutely unacceptable, and completely take me out of the song. I thought Apple Music's file was faulty or something, but the link to the YouTube video proves that the song is just plain messed up to begin with... If it was an intentional choice, it was an awful one, and if it was unintentional, that is ridiculous that nobody caught it before putting out the song. "Us Girls" is quite catchy on the surface, but I couldn't quite get over the really weird musical arrangement. It sounds incredibly clunky when the entire band stops between every single measure in the intro and every time it gets replicated throughout the song. Something about it just sounds incredibly cheap rather than innovative. "I Am A Woman" is a fantastic song celebrating womanhood. Literally the only thing wrong with it is that Lorrie's vocals have noticeably aged so much that it sounds like Pam is singing with an old lady Also their voices are kinda processed in a weird way that sounds really electronic and not organic. The way the song builds, however, is really good! I bet this one will do well on the album rankdown when we get to it for the Pam album series! Oh no, "Don't Worry Baby" was robbed!!!! This song might be a little bit odd compared to Lorrie's usual material, but I think that gives it character that helps it to stand out. She absolutely nails this one vocally! I love the fact that her voice sounds a little higher than normal for basically this entire song. She basically sings this in a mezzo range, whereas her normal output is much more alto. I guess maybe that's why some people found it to sound off? She totally nails it though. If anything is weird, it is The Beach Boys' vocals bouncing around in the background... For the most part, the duets with Sammy were incredibly boring and unnecessary. "Maybe Not Tonight" is the only good one. I am glad to see that one still in. "I Finally Found Someone", however, was really boring and it is leaving in a good place. A lot of the magic is diminished greatly by the fact that they split, of course, so now it literally IS a pointless song.

"Leavin' On Your Mind" is a good song, but ultimately is always hard to rank because it is such a common cover. Lorrie does a great job with it, but her original material is better. "Come See Me And Come Lonely" has a really catchy arrangement. However, the vocals don't quite carry the song the way that they would have when Lorrie and Pam were younger. This is probably a good spot for it, because it is not as bad as the worst stuff in this list, but also is nowhere near Lorrie's best work. Oooop, "To Get To You" is another painful loss for me. Looks like I underranked it, but I guess that's just how strong this list is! Lorrie had a very small window of material that still sounds modern but was vocally still in her prime, and this is one of the few songs to fit the bill. She sounds absolutely AMAZING with this more modern arrangement!!! (Of course by modern I mean '00s. Lol) That verse melody is incredibly strong, and her voice perfectly carries the chorus. Idk, I can see why this isn't among her classics, but it definitely should have made a run at the top half! To echo what indulge said about "Leaving' On Your Mind", "Crying Time" is a dreary song no matter who sings it... Not even Martina made this song good. The melody is just so drab. It had no business escaping the bottom 10 in this rankdown. "My Night To Howl" is a VERY odd song to see get any top 10s, let alone a #1 rank Personally I think the song is pretty good, but judging by my rank I think this one is leaving in a good place. It feels like a bit of a cult classic, but I can absolutely see why it kinda caused her career to stall, and is not remembered among the other songs in her prime. But also, the animal metaphors in this song also make no sense. She's singing about herself like she's a wildcat on the prowl, but also cats don't howl, so....

"I Know What You Did Last Night" should not be the highest Lorrie/Pam duet. The melody to this one is annoying. And it doesn't have any great vocals which is where "I Am A Woman" gets some of its redeeming qualities. "Trainwreck Of Emotion" is a great song, and a fantastic major-label debut with radio, but ultimately the rest of her career ended up being so amazing that this one has pretty much started to sound like safe '90s fodder by comparison. It's leaving in a good place. Lmao "He Drinks Tequila" is trash. Forgive me, but I have a lot of trouble taking two aging white people singing about drinking tequila, talking dirty in Spanish, dancing with mariachis, etc. even slightly seriously... "I Can Count On You" was surprisingly good to me! The loooooow notes she hits in the verses (C3) are impressive enough on their own. Pair it with the insanely catchy and well-sung "You'll break my heart in two just like you always do" line in the chorus that jumps up to a C5, and suddenly we have a song where Lorrie, who usually seems to have a pretty limited vocal range, is easily singing 2 entire octaves!! 2-octave songs are rare enough for people like Martina and Faith and Carrie, who are known for their high belting. Of course those ladies hit C5s all the time, but they are different vocal types from Lorrie. And Lorrie has the advantage of being able to start at a C3, whereas the other ladies usually can't go lower than E3 or so, which means they have to go all the way up to E5 if they want to hit 2 octaves. It doesn't rival her all-time greats or anything, so I probably overranked it, but I am still happy to see it not get tanked too severely! Hers is easily the best version of "My Favorite Things"!!! SO impressive that this managed to do so well, and almost escape the bottom 20! Now, why isn't this song available on streaming anywhere, considering that it is one of the most classic versions of the song??
