It should be very interesting to see how new Adele and The Weeknd will perform. They should release any day now. I've been waiting for these two to drop all year... 😔

Hmm, late October then for first single and late November for the album. That's not "any day now." But yeah I am super excited for when she does release! The Weeknd I'm not so sure about. I like him too, but he's not in the same league as Adele and doesn't really have the same chances of success.

The Weeknd will flop. Power is Power never charted despite Travis Scott, Lost in the Fire tumbled off the hot 100 in a few weeks, and nothing from his My Dear Melancholy EP caught on post debut week. Even Pray for Me is dismissed as a Starboy clone, despite being successful. He hasn’t had a well received smash since I Feel it Coming.

He also hasn't released an actual album since 2016. MDM was a gift to his fans who missed his older, less mainstream sound, it clearly wasn't designed to have smashes on it (and it still did 169k first week with six songs). Also, people liked Pray For Me otherwise it wouldn't have been a hit, so you pretty much undermined your entire argument by inserting your own opinion into it.

Artists rarely go from flopping to successful just because what they release is an official album single. Lost in the Fire and Power is Power are definitely valid comparisons for how a new Weeknd single might do.

The Weeknd won’t do sh*t unless the new single is truly great.

Lol thinking that an actual single of his will flop because a barely promoted soundtrack song and a producer collab didn't do well is crazy. I'd be surprised if his first real single doesn't debut top 4-5

No but number ones can have a very varied point tally. Will Adele have streaming on her side the way The Weeknd likely will? Will Adele have radio on her side instantly in week 1? Hello came out the same week as Bieber’s lead single to his last album and if I remember correctly, he had a higher radio total in that first week. A lot has changed since 25 came out. Granted, I was skeptical before that era as well and it was still massive but singles-wise I don’t think it’s a 100% sure bet.

You can't be serious. Thats kinda disrespectful to Abel lmao. Those songs debuted in the 60s... He's nowhere near as fallen off as Sean or Rocky. Just compare the social media activity those two get compared to him. An average tweet for him gets 100-300k likes. His album teaser pic had nearly 500k. Sean and Rocky struggle to get more than 50k likes on a tweet.

I'm sure Adele will debut high with her previous biggest sales and yes The Weeknd is a good question here, depends on what he will release. But what about Charlie Puth, why "I Warned Myself" and "Mother" are underperforming? 😐 What about OneRepublic, "Wanted" and "Somebody to Love" which are high on iTunes. Could they chart?

Not sure but it appears Most of the chartbeat articles have been locked down to just subscribers
I can get in because I am a subscriber but is anyone else having issues?

Random.
From observing the ‘Chart Beat - Hot 100’ records, I feel as though their are two of which won’t be surpassed (anytime soon) and they’re both currently set by Whitney Houston.
1) The most simultaneous weeks at number one on both the Hot 100 and BB200.
I Will Always Love You + The Bodygaurd OST: 12 consecutive weeks
2) The most consecutive number one singles.
Whitney Houston: 7.
It took almost 25 years for a song to finally surpass 16 weeks at number one... it’s been 30+ years & 25+ years respectively and still no artist has surpassed Houston’s.

Hello came out the same week as Bieber’s lead single to his last album and if I remember correctly, he had a higher radio total in that first week. Hello was #11 on the radio in just 7 days and already reached the top of the airplay chart in less than four weeks. Sorry was #50 after its first week.

Skyfall was released in digital era (2012) and we had no clue about Adele's streaming numbers. But...she scored 61 million streams and 1,1 million copies in 2015, where 25 million streams and 400k copies were huuuuge. Also, she entered top 10 on radio in its 11th day. We'll see, but I think she can score huge numbers again.

Not sure but it appears Most of the chartbeat articles have been locked down to just subscribers I can get in because I am a subscriber but is anyone else having issues? Yeah. Aside from the Hot 100, Billboard 200, and Artist 100 charts, all of the articles related to those charts, and all of the year-end charts, everything else relating to charts appears to be locked to only subscribers. That said, some of the current charts can still be accessed using bdsradiocharts.

They also still have yet to update the GOAT list on the "Greatest of All Time" chart while getting rid of the interactive 60th anniversary chart
